The reason is, my first handgun was an M&P; full size, chambered in .40. Throughout thousands of rounds, seldom cleanings, and use in a variety of harsh conditions, my M&P; never let me down nor failed in any way. The full size 9mm in this video works the same... At the time that I bought my M&P;, it's main striker-fired contenders were Glock and Springfield. Although all three brands are known for incredible reliability and simplistic design, the M&P; held my attention due to the ergonomics...they are fantastic! Having an ambidextrous slide lock/release, as well as a reversible magazine release, helps accommodate the M&P; for both right and left handed shooters, and serves as a big positive should the gun be shared between two people of opposite hand dominance. The three dot sights on the M&P; are robust and easy to pick up, but I would recommend changing them over to night sights if the gun will be used for defense. The biggest downfall of the M&P; is the trigger. Ask enough people who have shot an M&P; before what their opinion is and typically the response includes "(the gun)...was great, but the trigger...(negative)". Although I certainly learned to use the stock M&P;'s trigger to a decent degree, it's great to see companies like Apex Tactical offering replacement kits. The Apex Tactical Forward Set Sear kits are competitively priced and completely change the behavior of the M&P;'s otherwise soft trigger...it is a must-have for all M&P; owners!
