If you want to know how good simple French bistro cooking can be, stop in at Toulouse Cafe and Bar and order a house salad ... There’s a well-executed steak frites (good fries!) and a very likable dish of confit duck legs — crisp-skinned, tasty and served on braised green lentils and carrots, with soft, sweet roasted shallots and Armagnac-poached prunes to round out the plate and a spoonful of thyme-flecked aigre-doux (sour-sweet) sauce....
