Located in Western Ghats surrounded by dense forest, creates breathtaking scenes with deluge rushing down from 300 ft. One can spend several hours appreciating the sheer beauty of falls and natural surroundings. A must visit during monsoons and while in Goa. Best mode of transportation is through cargo trains; trekking through jungle (or bikes/jeeps) is arduous and time consuming. The Shahrukh Khan Deepika movie Chennai Express was shot here.

12779 Goa express going from Kulem to Castle rock, pushed along by two helper locomotives. The train passed the picturesque Bhagwan Mahavir national park where the famed Dudhsagar falls is situated. This was heaven for me. I had never before seen a broad gauge train go through such beautiful terrain before. This route makes Konkan railways look like overrated. It took me more than 18 hours to upload this high quality file. Enjoy it!!

A mind-blowing experience and an outstanding one to visit Dudhsagar Waterfalls on bikes. You can get a complete idea as to how to reach the waterfalls when there are no jeeps available.
Saw on internet that one must visit Dudhsagar Waterfalls situated near Goa and Karnataka Border in mansoon season so i decided to go there & i went alone. Trekked 8 kms for 3 hours with only 1 waterbottle and some chocolates and my DSLR camera. This is the 5th largest waterfall in India. If you are planning to go there then must read everything about it. There are some laws and punishments as well. And make your proper schedule bcoz u don't wanna stay there at night and face panthers. There are rumours about them. But ignoring all these stuff...this place is heaven, trip to this place is worth taking risk.
Dudhsagar falls is a spectacular waterfall, one amongst the 100 highest in the world. It is situated on the border between the Indian states of Goa and Karnataka. The falls cascades down a height of about 310 metres.
Presenting a full journey from Goa to Hyderabad, through the magnificent Dudhsagar waterfalls. Enjoy the journey aboard the Amaravati Express, departing from Goa early in the morning, powered by a pair of beautiful Gooty WDG3As. We have a quick sighting of a sea beach and quickly reach Kulem, where the train climbs 2,000 feet through the Western Ghats. We are assisted in our climb by 2 bankers from Gooty which power the train up the steep gradients and the lush green forests of the Ghats. Enroute, we pass through the magnificent Dudhsagar falls, tumbling forth from the heavens. We also encounter a wonderful mist, and some sharp showers. After the ghats, the Amaravati maintains a rapid pace as it moves eastwards towards the twin cities of Hubli and Dharwad and we meet our counterpart -...
Video No.- 1478 Braganza Ghats are a stretch of hill section at the Goa – Karnataka border. This 26 km ghat section rail road connecting coastal Goa to the hinterlands of Karnataka and other parts. It starts from Castle rock in Karnataka and ends up at Kulem in Goa. Prior to the Konkan Railways this was the only way one could have reached Goa via rail. Both the uphill as well as the downhill trains have commercial halts at Castle Rock and Kulem, which also serve as the stations for attachment and detachment of brakers/ bankers. The Ghat's fame is mostly derived from the wonderful waterfalls which slide down gracefully in its midst, somewhere in the middle of the ghat with the name Dudhsagar Falls or Sea of Milk. The speciality of this location is it is only connected by the rail road. Th...
This video of Goods train in Braganza Ghat starting from Castlerock, Karnataka to Kulem, Goa. The goods train passes through the beautiful greenary ghat section of Dudhsagar water falls and many tunnels and bridges hauled by three WDG4 Diesel locos going down the ghatsection. I have took the vdeo from the third diesel engine. What a fantastic view and it's heaven on the earth. Actually soon after the rainy season travelling on this route is more fantastic, since you find lot of water in the falls. Dudhsagar falls is the 4 th tallest fall in India and 21st in the world. You can reach this fall only by train. I don't think I will be able to take a better video of the falls if I could have traveled by a train on both sides. Here you find long and close view of Dudhsagar falls. Dudhsagar...

This was an exciting day!
this 1985 journey on a scheduled goa to bombay railway train was the highlight of my nostalgic trip to Goa. at that time, the trains still rode on narrow guage track, and this particular one was pulled by diesel engine and pushed by steam engine, probably one of the last times that steam engines and marooned-coloured cars were used. the beautiful lullaby of the rail sounds, the horn of the diesel engine, the whistle and steaming of the steam loco ( at 15:33 ), riding over narrow bridges, through hand-dug tunnels, on the edge of the mountains climbing to the top....., and after Londa, the return journey equally pleasurable, although at higher down-speed. the scenery, the vendors plying their tea and pepsi, all take me down memory lane.
