Marcus Miller
Marcus Miller (born William Henry Marcus Miller, Jr.; June 14, 1959) is an American jazz composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist, best known as a bass guitarist. Throughout his career, Miller worked with trumpeter Miles Davis, pianist Herbie Hancock, singer Luther Vandross, and saxophonist David Sanborn, as well as maintaining a successful solo career. Miller is classically trained as a clarinetist and also plays keyboards, saxophone and guitar.
Life and career
Early life
Miller was born in Brooklyn, New York City, in 1959 and raised in a musical family that includes his father, William Miller (a church organist and choir director) and jazz pianist Wynton Kelly. By 13, Marcus was proficient on clarinet, piano and bass guitar, and already writing songs. Two years later he was working regularly in New York City, eventually playing bass and writing music for jazz flutist Bobbi Humphrey and keyboardist Lonnie Liston Smith. Miller soon became a first call session musician, appearing on over 500 albums by such artists as Michael Jackson, Herbie Hancock, Mariah Carey, Wayne Shorter, McCoy Tyner, Frank Sinatra, George Benson, Dr. John, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Grover Washington, Jr., Donald Fagen, Bill Withers, Chaka Khan, LL Cool J and Flavio Sala.

Allmusic awarded the album with 3 stars and its review by Ed Hogan states: "Marcus Miller followed his debut LP, Suddenly, with this self-titled PRA/Warner Bros. album released during summer 1984. His fusion of funk/R&B/jazz is well-balanced on this effort and better represents his formidable talents as a bassist/songwriter/producer/vocalist/multi-instrumentalist."

Sacco
Sacco is a town and comune in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. As of 2011, its population was 582.
Geography
Located in the central-eastern area of Cilento and near the Alburni mountain range, the municipality borders with Corleto Monforte, Laurino, Piaggine, Roscigno and Teggiano. It has no hamlets (frazioni). The town is located near the spring of the river Sammaro.

Sacco (river)
The Sacco is a river of central Italy, a right tributary of the Liri.
The river is formed by the confluence of two streams of the Monti Simbruini in the Apennines of Abruzzo. It flows towards south-east for a total of 87 kilometres (54 mi), crossing Ciociaria between the mountain ranges of the Ernici to the north-east, and of the Lepini to the south-west. It flows into the Liri in Isoletta di Arce, in the Lazio.
The Sacco's main tributaries are the Cosa and the Alabro.
In the Frosinone area it is known also the Tolero, from its ancient name Tolerus or Trerus.
The Sacco river valley is a vast territory between the provinces of Rome and Frosinone in the central-southern Italy. The intensive exploitation that for decades affected of this valley due to no-scruple companies and crooked public administration offices, produced an unprecedented environmental and social disaster.

Since his heady introduction to the New York studio scene in the mid-70s, Marcus has been landing dream gigs with the likes of Luther Vandross, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Aretha Franklin, Paul Simon, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, Jay Z and Chaka Khan.
He’s also forged a solid solo career, formed a bass supergroup with Stanley Clarke and Victor Wooten, and made a name for himself as one of the greatest slap bass players of all-time.

In memorandum to Bruno Sacco (1933-2024), one of the greatest Mercedes-Benz designers of all times. He was the leading chief designer behind the W123, W126, W201, W124, R129 up to the W220 and C215. His most loved designs were: W126, W201 & R129 according to him. He started his career at Daimler-Benz in January 1958. In 1975 he took over the design department (back then called "Stilistikabteilung") from Friedrich Geiger. He was leading every design activity as design chief until 1999 when he retired. Bruno Sacco remains one of the industry’s most impactful designers nearly 25 years after his time at Mercedes-Benz ended. During his tenure, the company adapted to a changing industry, successfully pushed downmarket, and established an unmistakable familial look. Later on, it shook that formula up and challenged the idea of what a Mercedes could look like.
Sacco earned an internship at Ghia in 1955 after training at Turin’s Technical University of Engineering Science. The young designer also did some work for Pininfarina in 1957. Although the city was becoming a mecca for automotive styling, Sacco had his sights on working abroad. More specifically, he wanted to be employed by Mercedes-Benz. According to a 1998 New York Times article, this desire was twofold. Their racing cars of 1954 and 1955 made quite an impression on him. He was also captivated by the 300SL Gullwing.
Sacco began working in their Sindelfingen design center on January 13, 1958. He was just the second designer that the company had brought on. The first, Paul Bracq, was hired in March of 1957. Sacco only anticipated staying in Germany for a few years, but these plans changed after he met his future wife and had a child with her. Early on, he contributed to the W100-generation 600 and the W113-generation 230 SL Pagoda. While these were impressive projects to be involved in, Sacco believed that his way forward within the company was unclear. In an effort to advance his career, he left the styling section and took a position in the safety department under Bela Barenyi.
The C111 broke cover at the 1969 Frankfurt Motor Show. It was internally referred to as the C101 but this changed after Peugeot complained that it might be mistaken for one of its own cars. Mercedes, like many other automakers at the time, was exploring the viability of rotary engines. As such, the C111 is equipped with a 3-rotor Wankel unit that made 276 HP. It also featured a wedge-shaped fiberglass body and a striking orange paint job called Weissherbst. It referenced a popular type of wine.
Bruno Sacco quickly ascended the Mercedes-Benz hierarchy. After his return to styling, he was named the head of the body and dimensional design department in 1970. Four years later, the company appointed him as chief engineer. Just a year after that, he succeeded Friedrich Geiger as the head of the Mercedes Styling Department. Design was already becoming an increasingly important consideration for the company. The department had come a long way since his hiring in the late 50s. By the time he assumed the top post, it was 130-strong.
Horizontal homogeneity refers to the visual link between all models in a lineup. Vertical affinity refers to the connection that a new model shares with the old model. This would ensure that a Mercedes would always look like a Mercedes, regardless of its market positioning or model year.

Marcus Miller (born William Henry Marcus Miller, Jr.; June 14, 1959) is an American jazz composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist, best known as a bass guitarist. Throughout his career, Miller worked with trumpeter Miles Davis, pianist Herbie Hancock, singer Luther Vandross, and saxophonist David Sanborn, as well as maintaining a successful solo career. Miller is classically trained as a clarinetist and also plays keyboards, saxophone and guitar.
Life and career
Early life
Miller was born in Brooklyn, New York City, in 1959 and raised in a musical family that includes his father, William Miller (a church organist and choir director) and jazz pianist Wynton Kelly. By 13, Marcus was proficient on clarinet, piano and bass guitar, and already writing songs. Two years later he was working regularly in New York City, eventually playing bass and writing music for jazz flutist Bobbi Humphrey and keyboardist Lonnie Liston Smith. Miller soon became a first call session musician, appearing on over 500 albums by such artists as Michael Jackson, Herbie Hancock, Mariah Carey, Wayne Shorter, McCoy Tyner, Frank Sinatra, George Benson, Dr. John, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Grover Washington, Jr., Donald Fagen, Bill Withers, Chaka Khan, LL Cool J and Flavio Sala.

Bruno Sacco remains one of the industry’s most impactful designers nearly 25 years after his time at Mercedes-Benz ended. During his tenure, the company adapted to a changing industry, successfully pushed downmarket, and established an unmistakable familial look. Later on, it shook that formula up and challenged the idea of what a Mercedes could look like.
Sacco earned an internship at Ghia in 1955 after training at Turin’s Technical University of Engineering Science. The young designer also did some work for Pininfarina in 1957. Although the city was becoming a mecca for automotive styling, Sacco had his sights on working abroad. More specifically, he wanted to be employed by Mercedes-Benz. According to a 1998 New York Times article, this desire was twofold. Their racing cars of 1954 and 1955 made quite an impression on him. He was also captivated by the 300SL Gullwing.
Sacco began working in their Sindelfingen design center on January 13, 1958. He was just the second designer that the company had brought on. The first, Paul Bracq, was hired in March of 1957. Sacco only anticipated staying in Germany for a few years, but these plans changed after he met his future wife and had a child with her. Early on, he contributed to the W100-generation 600 and the W113-generation 230 SL Pagoda. While these were impressive projects to be involved in, Sacco believed that his way forward within the company was unclear. In an effort to advance his career, he left the styling section and took a position in the safety department under Bela Barenyi.
The C111 broke cover at the 1969 Frankfurt Motor Show. It was internally referred to as the C101 but this changed after Peugeot complained that it might be mistaken for one of its own cars. Mercedes, like many other automakers at the time, was exploring the viability of rotary engines. As such, the C111 is equipped with a 3-rotor Wankel unit that made 276 HP. It also featured a wedge-shaped fiberglass body and a striking orange paint job called Weissherbst. It referenced a popular type of wine.
Bruno Sacco quickly ascended the Mercedes-Benz hierarchy. After his return to styling, he was named the head of the body and dimensional design department in 1970. Four years later, the company appointed him as chief engineer. Just a year after that, he succeeded Friedrich Geiger as the head of the Mercedes Styling Department. Design was already becoming an increasingly important consideration for the company. The department had come a long way since his hiring in the late 50s. By the time he assumed the top post, it was 130-strong.
Horizontal homogeneity refers to the visual link between all models in a lineup. Vertical affinity refers to the connection that a new model shares with the old model. This would ensure that a Mercedes would always look like a Mercedes, regardless of its market positioning or model year.

In memorandum to Bruno Sacco (1933-2024), one of the greatest Mercedes-Benz designers of all times.
He was the leading chief designer behind the W123, W126, W201, W124, R129 up to the W220 and C215.
His most loved designs were: W126, W201 & R129 according to him.
He started his career at Daimler-Benz in January 1958.
In 1975 he took over the design department (back then called "Stilistikabteilung") from Friedrich Geiger.
He was leading every design activity as design chief until 1999 when he retired. His successor was Peter Pfeiffer took over and then Gordon Wagener.
