Finally I was able to film another Crosswind video at Düsseldorf. Almost two years after I made the last crosswind video the wind conditions were perfect for lots of crosswind action again. Check out the amazing skills of the pilots. Some of them realy had a hard time trying to land during these stormy conditions. We had wind speeds up to 55kts. I spend 7 hours at the airport and I was able to see 15 go arounds. Not all of them are shown in this video cause most of them already made a go around far before reaching the runway.

While approaching Frankfurt's 25L, our captain had the idea to perform a swing to 25C, because the parking position was at the end of the airport, and so we could roll all the way down the runway and save a lot of time.
The tower gave the permission to do so, and we landed without reversers and speedbrakes. I sat on the jumpseat and captured it all for you guys ;-)
I hope you enjoy this video nearly as much as I enjoyed the landing!

Antonio Nariño Airport (IATA: PSO, ICAO: SKPS) is located in the town of Chachagüí and serves the city of Pasto, which is located 35km away from the airport. The airport only handles domestic flights in addition to military operations and private charters
Elevation AMSL: 5.951 ft
The airport's runway was built on a plateau of 50 meters because of the surrounding terrain. Due to this, many pilots refer to the airport as an aircraft carrier. The runway is also relatively short for the altitude at which the airport is at.
The position of the runway means that it is often rendered useless since, in the presence of crosswinds, it prevents aircraft making a safe take off and landing. Crosswinds are common during the summer, particularly during the month of August.
Since 2007, the runway has been equipped with an Localizer, which permits airport operations during the night and when there is low visibility. However, a suitable place is being sought for to build a new airport due to the big increase in passengers and cargo and also since the current airport is often closed due to poor weather conditions.

Landing is the last part of a flight, where a flying animal, aircraft, or spacecraft returns to the ground. When the flying object returns to water, the process is called alighting, although it is commonly called "landing," "touchdown" or "splashdown" as well. A normal aircraft flight would include several parts of flight including taxi, takeoff, climb, cruise, descent and landing.
Aircraft usually land at an airport on a firm runway or helicopter landing pad, generally constructed of asphalt concrete, concrete, gravel or grass. Aircraft equipped with pontoons (floatplane) or with a boat hull-shaped fuselage (a flying boat) are able to land on water. Aircraft also sometimes use skis to land on snow or ice.
To land, the airspeed and the rate of descent are reduced such that the object descends at a slow enough rate to allow for a gentle touch down. Landing is accomplished by slowing down and descending to the runway. This speed reduction is accomplished by reducing thrust and/or inducing a greater amount of drag using flaps, landing gear or speed brakes. When a fixed wing aircraft approaches the ground, the pilot will move the control column back to execute a flare or round-out. This increases the angle of attack. Progressive movement of the control column back will allow the aircraft to settle onto the runway at minimum speed, landing on its main wheels first in the case of a tricycle gear aircraft or on all three wheels simultaneously in the case of a conventional landing gear-equipped aircraft, commonly referred to as a "taildragger". This is known as flaring.

This video is property of Train_PlaneHub, "RachaelMatt" 1080p HD! One of the most intense moments I've ever experienced in aviation. Arriving at London Heathrow Airport (RWY27L) during #StormImogen Over 60mph winds battering southern England clearly took its toll on my flight. This was Swiss Air Airbus A321 (HB-IOK) flight LX332 from Zurich, was scheduled to arrive at 13:00 but due to ATC restrictions in the extreme weather was delayed by just short of 2 hours. If I said I wasn't hoping for the flight to make an aborted landing I'd be lying because it is exciting. However I wasn't quite expecting to be thrown violently left & right just above the runway, before slamming down, bouncing and then climbing away again. Got a bit more than I bargained for, was absolutely terrifying for everyone onboard. The captain did announce that the Missed Approach was due to a "sudden gust of wind". Must take my hat off to them both in the flight deck for displaying some incredible skill and their fantastic quick reactions at getting the plane back off the ground & into safety immediately. We did then circle for a few minutes and re-entered the approach and landed safely the second time around without further incident. I wasn't even booked onto this flight. Was due to fly to London City but that flight was cancelled because of the storm and I was rebooked onto this one. Dangerous Crosswind Landings during a Storm at Düsseldorf - Multiple Aborted Landings
Finally I was able to film another Crosswind video at Düsseldorf. Almost two years after I made the last crosswind video the wind conditions were perfect for lots of crosswind action again. Check out the amazing skills of the pilots. Some of them realy had a hard time trying to land during these stormy conditions. We had wind speeds up to 55kts. I spend 7 hours at the airport and I was able to see 15 go arounds. Not all of them are shown in this video cause most of them already made a go around far before reaching the runway. Very Unusual but Awesome Landing in Frankfurt - Cockpit View!
While approaching Frankfurt's 25L, our captain had the idea to perform a swing to 25C, because the parking position was at the end of the airport, and so we could roll all the way down the runway and save a lot of time. The tower gave the permission to do so, and we landed without reversers and speedbrakes. STORM !! Airbus A380 CROSSWIND Landing at Düsseldorf
I have filmed lots of crosswind landings within the past four years but this was the first time I was able to film an A380 crosswind Landing. All crosswind Landings are amazing but seeing an A380 fighting against the wind was something special. In addition to that the runway was very wet and the A380 touched down a little late. Emirates started using the A380 on the Düsseldorf - Dubai service four months ago. It replaced the Boeing 777-300. SUPER HARD Boeing 737 Landing
This Boeing 737 of Sun Express made a pretty hard Landing at Düsseldorf during a storm. The pilots had to fight with severe crosswinds from the north which led to a go around during the first approach. I have never seen such a hugh amount of smoke coming from the wheels. It even created a smal "Smike tornado". Interesting effect. The Boeing 737-800 impacted on runway 05L after a flight from Antalya. This was not the only hard landing that day. Finally I was able to film another Crosswind video at Düsseldorf. Almost two years after I made the last crosswind video the wind conditions were perfect for lots of crosswind action again. Check out the amazing skills of the pilots. Some of them realy had a hard time trying to land during these stormy conditions. We had wind speeds up to 55kts. I spend 7 hours at the airport and I was able to see 15 go arounds. Not all of them are shown in this video cause most of them already made a go around far before reaching the runway.

While approaching Frankfurt's 25L, our captain had the idea to perform a swing to 25C, because the parking position was at the end of the airport, and so we could roll all the way down the runway and save a lot of time.
The tower gave the permission to do so, and we landed without reversers and speedbrakes. I sat on the jumpseat and captured it all for you guys ;-)
I hope you enjoy this video nearly as much as I enjoyed the landing!

One of the most intense moments I've ever experienced in aviation. Arriving at London Heathrow Airport (RWY27L) during #StormImogen Over 60mph winds battering southern England clearly took its toll on my flight. This was Swiss Air Airbus A321 (HB-IOK) flight LX332 from Zurich, was scheduled to arrive at 13:00 but due to ATC restrictions in the extreme weather was delayed by just short of 2 hours. If I said I wasn't hoping for the flight to make an aborted landing I'd be lying because it is exciting. However I wasn't quite expecting to be thrown violently left & right just above the runway, before slamming down, bouncing and then climbing away again. Got a bit more than I bargained for, was absolutely terrifying for everyone onboard. The captain did announce that the Missed Approach was due to a "sudden gust of wind". Must take my hat off to them both in the flight deck for displaying some incredible skill and their fantastic quick reactions at getting the plane back off the ground & into safety immediately.
We did then circle for a few minutes and re-entered the approach and landed safely the second time around without further incident.
I wasn't even booked onto this flight. Was due to fly to London City but that flight was cancelled because of the storm and I was rebooked onto this one.

This Boeing 737 of Sun Express made a pretty hard Landing at Düsseldorf during a storm. The pilots had to fight with severe crosswinds from the north which led to a go around during the first approach. I have never seen such a hugh amount of smoke coming from the wheels. It even created a smal "Smike tornado". Interesting effect.
The Boeing 737-800 impacted on runway 05L after a flight from Antalya. This was not the only hard landing that day. Check out the rubber marks on the runway.

Many people have said that it was the LOWEST LANDING they had ever seen at Skiathos and it is definitely one of the lowest landings in the world itself. After touchdown, two clear marks from the landing gear were drawn before the runway threshold!

Swiss Airbus A330-300 - Massive thunderstorms upon landing in Miami
Flight LX 64 from Zurich to Miami / July 31 2015 HB-JHE After a 9 hour 45 minute flight from Zurich Switzerland, Miami welcomed us with a front of severe thunderstorms, hail and high wind gusts, prompting Miami International Airport to close for more than 2 hours. Many flights were diverted to Tampa or Orlando that afternoon - we were lucky given the circumstances and just vectored around Florida towards the Florida Keys, Cuba and than upwards the Florida Gulf Coast before final vectors for a landing on RWY26R. Look at the amazing waterspray caused by the reversers, giving in impression about the amount of water on the runway. Total airborne time was 10 hours and 50 minutes and then another hour of hold and taxi on the ground until we reached the gate. Kudos to the pilots really - manual ... -

Die ersten 5 Minuten des Films siehst du ein paar ausgelesene Szenen vom stürmischen Tag in Zürich. Gefilmt habe ich von 9.30 Uhr bis etwa 17.00 Uhr. Als ich danach nach Hause kam, ging ich grad schlafen. Den ganzen Tag bei dem Wetter, da ist man einfach erledigt.
Bilanz: Zweimal Kamera fortgeflogen, aber nichts passiert. Allerdings ist ein Stativ danach unbrauchbar geworden.

After a 9 hour 45 minute flight from Zurich Switzerland, Miami welcomed us with a front of severe thunderstorms, hail and high wind gusts, prompting Miami International Airport to close for more than 2 hours. Many flights were diverted to Tampa or Orlando that afternoon - we were lucky given the circumstances and just vectored around Florida towards the Florida Keys, Cuba and than upwards the Florida Gulf Coast before final vectors for a landing on RWY26R. Look at the amazing waterspray caused by the reversers, giving in impression about the amount of water on the runway.
Total airborne time was 10 hours and 50 minutes and then another hour of hold and taxi on the ground until we reached the gate.
Kudos to the pilots really - manual landing / autopilot disconnect sound at 21:48, and then nicely correcting a strong windgust / nose-up pitch at 22:34 - great flight and amazing landing

By varying engine thrust, the pilots manage to crash-land the aircraft at Sioux City, Iowa, saving the lives of 185 of the 296 people on board.
