Jared Lee Loughner (/ˈlɒfnər/; born September 10, 1988) is an American citizen who pleaded guilty to 19 charges of murder and attempted murder in connection with the January 8, 2011 Tucson shooting, in which he shot and severely injured U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords, his target, and killed 6 people, including Chief U.S. District Court Judge John Roll, as well as a 9-year-old bystander Christina-Taylor Green. Loughner shot and injured 13 other people, and one man was injured while subduing him.
Acquaintances said that Loughner's personality had changed markedly in the years prior to the shooting, a period when he was also abusing alcohol and drugs. He had been suspended from Pima Community College in September 2010 because of his bizarre behavior and disruptions in classes and the library. After his arrest, two medical evaluations diagnosed him as paranoid schizophrenic and incompetent to stand trial. He was medicated while in jail as part of his treatment. He was again judged incompetent in May 2012.

Lee also creates and produces a humorous line of T-shirts and gift items featuring horses, sold throughout the United States and abroad. His lifelong interest and involvement with horses and ponies alike led to the collaboration with actor/model/author Carson Kressley on the book You're Different and That's Super.
Jared, /ˈdʒæɹəd/, is a proper name of Biblical derivation that is a common first name, mostly in North American English-speaking countries.
In the Biblical Book of Genesis, Jared was the sixth link in the ten pre-flood generations between Adam and Noah; he was the son of Mahalaleel and the father of Enoch, and lived 962 years (per Genesis 5:18).
The meaning of the name is "he who descended" (Hebrew root YRD). In the Book of Enoch it is explained that Mahalaleel named Jared because during his lifetime the angels of the Lord descended to earth. The name could also be understood as "he who shall rule" (future tense of the Hebrew root RDH, as found for example in Psalms 72:8).

The college was originally named Pima College but the name was changed to Pima Community College in 1972 to better reflect the mission of the College.
Gabrielle Dee "Gabby" Giffords (born June 8, 1970) is an American politician from the U.S. state of Arizona. As a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives, she represented Arizona's 8th congressional district from January 3, 2007 until her resignation on January 25, 2012, after surviving an assassination attempt that left her with a severe brain injury. She is the third woman in Arizona's history to be elected to the U.S. Congress. Considered a "Blue Dog" Democrat, her focus on health care reform and illegal immigration were sources of attention for those opposed to her candidacy and made her a recipient of criticism from various conservative groups.
Giffords is a native of Tucson, Arizona, and a graduate of Scripps College and Cornell University. Prior to her election to the United States Congress, Giffords served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2001 until 2003 and the Arizona State Senate from 2003 until 2005, when she resigned to run for the house seat held by then-Congressman Jim Kolbe. She also worked as an associate for regional economic development for Price Waterhouse in New York City, and as CEO of El Campo Tire Warehouses, a local automotive chain owned by her grandfather. She is married to former astronaut and Space Shuttle Commander Mark E. Kelly.

The latest on the man police identified as the alleged shooter, Jared Loughner.
"Get down, get down love Henry", she cried
"And stay all night with me
I have gold chains and the finest I have
I'll apply them all to thee"
I can't get down and I shan't get down
Or stay all night with thee
Some pretty little girl in Cornersville
I love far better than thee
He layed his head on a pillow of down
Kisses, she gave him three
With a penny knife that she held in her hand
She murdered mortal he
"Get well, get well love Henry", she cried
"Get well, get well", said she
"Oh don't you see my own heart's blood
Come flowin' down so free?"
She took him by his long yellow hair
And also by his feet
She plunged him into well water where
It runs both cold and deep
"Lie there, lie there, love Henry", she cried
"'Til the flesh rots off your bones
Some pretty little girl in Cornersville
Will mourn for your return"
"Hush up, hush up, my parrot", she cried
"Don't tell no news on me
Or these costly beads around my neck
I'll apply them all to thee"
"Fly down, fly down pretty bird", she cried
"And light on my right knee
The doors to your cage shall be decked with gold
And hung on a willow tree"
I won't fly down, I can't fly down
And light on your right knee
A girl who would murder her own true love
