I come in here, and the first thing I'm doing is I'm catching the sightlines and looking for an exit.::Marie: I see the exit sign, too, I'm not worried. I mean, you were shot. People do all kinds of weird and amazing stuff when they are scared.::Jason Bourne: I can tell you the license plate numbers of all six cars outside. I can tell you that our waitress is left-handed and the guy sitting up at the counter weighs two hundred fifteen pounds and knows how to handle himself. I know the best place to look for a gun is the cab or the gray truck outside, and at this altitude, I can run flat out for a half mile before my hands start shaking. Now why would I know that? How can I know that and not know who I am?

Pause]::Jason Bourne: And what?::Marie: What do you mean, what. Listen to me; I, I've been speed talking for about sixty kilometers now. Brian Davies - ‘Aquinas On What God Is Not’ (06/02/2015)
Thomas Aquinas bluntly says that we do not know what God is. In this lecture I try to explain what he means by this conclusion and how he arrives at it.
Aquinas’s position on human knowledge of God sharply contrasts with that of many authors working in the area of philosophy of religion, so I draw attention to this fact and defend Aquinas to some extent.

Long established as a classic of music-theatre, the work is an extravagant, disturbing and poignant portrayal of madness. The king is
George III of England - or maybe another madman who believes himself to be that monarch - vocalizing weirdly as he bemoans his fate and tries to teach his instrumentalist-birds to sing. The string and woodwind players are the captives of his insanity, intended to play from within giant cages, while the percussionist is his keeper, holding him within the confines of a maddened musical sensibility. But all the musicians are essentially projections from within his own mind. The focus is always on him, and on his wild vocal performances, which include various kinds of Sprechgesang, chords and a range of over four octaves. The virtuosity of the instrumentalists is no less, nor that of the composer in playing spikily over a range of eighteenth-century references.

Paul Davies on time travel: Can it really be done?
Paul Davies, author of the popular best-seller "How to
Build a
Time Machine" discussed time travel when he presented the annual
Sci-fi Meets Sci-Fact lecture on Jan. 31,
2012, at
Arizona State University.
Time travel is a favorite science fiction theme, but can it really be done? "Well, maybe," says
Davies, the internationally acclaimed cosmologist, astrobiologist and theoretical physicist at Arizona State University, where he is a
Regents' Professor in the
Department of Physics.
The London native also directs the BEYOND
Center for
Fundamental Concepts in
Science, a cosmic think tank he established at
ASU in
2007. More about Paul Davies and his research at beyond.asu.edu.
