Second Saturdays Benefit Concert Series – for a better world

Corvallis, Oregon

The impetus for Second Saturdays Benefit Concert Series came in January 2007, as a way to raise money for the legal defense of Lt. Ehren Watada, the first military officer to publicly refuse deployment to Iraq.  We are peace activists from Corvallis, Oregon.  We strongly opposed the war on Iraq and other wars. That first concert was a huge success, raising $800 for Lt Watada.  We realized then that we could keep doing this, raising funds for other worthy causes  –  groups and organizations dedicated to creating a healthier, greener, more peaceful and just world. Most Second Saturdays’ beneficiaries are local and non-profit, although we sometimes make exceptions.  January 2017 marks Second Saturdays’ 10th year anniversary.

Concert organizers are: Leah Bolger, Ruth Roberts, Laurie Childers, Gretchen Newlin, and with much assistance from Bart Bolger. Our organizing group handles all publicity and other details.
