IES exam
The union public service commission conducts the IES or
Engineering service exam usually during the month of June. The technical and management functions of
Government of India are what IES refers to. IES is a most demanded exam to become IES officers, where these officers are appointed railways, roads, manufacturing, telecommunication, public work and lot more
.
Marks and exam pattern
The total marks for IES exam is for 1200, where the exam is comprised of a test followed by an interview. The written test is of
1000 marks which have questions of both descriptive and objective type question. The exam is usually conducted for three days for engineering graduates. For day one, paper I with general ability test and general
English test for
200 marks is conducted.
Paper II is an objective type paper for engineering grads which is also for 2 hours. On the same day the other session will have another objective type paper of 200 marks. Paper IV will be a general ability test for 200 marks. Paper V will be a conventional subjective type paper for 200 marks. And finally a conventional subjective type paper for 200 marks is conducted.
Specialized books for each engineering stream
IES has separate books for each stream of engineering available online, apart from books solved papers; previous year question papers, mock test and more can be glimpsed through. Few books would be principles of communication system by Taub & Schiling, electric power system by
C.L.Wadha, concrete structures by Punamia, engineering thermodynamics by PK Nag, and plenty more books are available. The nest IES is scheduled to be on 27th of May 2016, which will be conducted for 3 days.
Preparation tips
When you consider English subject the candidates should be clear about parts of sentences, tenses, antonyms, synonyms and words.
Reading everyday newspaper would elevate vocabulary and also update you with GK.
The general ability is another section which must be concentrated every day. To reap success in IES exam the candidate needs to have strong fundamentals in core subjects along with updated
General awareness and current affairs. The candidates should know the latest exam pattern and syllabus. Collect more of previous years papers prepare and excel in each section of the exam.
Practice papers by setting time for each paper. Make a note of the questions that are repeated each year. Make short notes of technical subject matters and keep revising.
Managing time for preparation
Managing time and maintaining a schedule for all the subjects is important. Refer one best book instead of going for a number of books. Dedicate at least three hours a day for each subject and read them thoroughly
. Allot 1 hour every day for English and general studies. After completing your studies make sure to solve and practice more of papers to judge yourself.
Read more of newspapers and magazines and watch bulletin and browse the net more to get updated with current affairs.
The students should concentrate more on studies and be cool and confident. The candidates should make use of tips and tricks to apply to the questions that are tricky.
