Ford F-Series

The Ford F-Series is a series of full-size pickup trucks from Ford which has been sold continuously since 1948. The most popular variant of the F-Series is the F-150. It has been the best-selling vehicle in the United States for the past 32 years, and the best-selling pickup for 43 years, and the best selling vehicle in Canada. In the tenth generation of the F-series, the F-250 and F-350 changed body style in 1998 and joined the Super Duty series.

During the post-World War II era, smaller Canadian towns had access to either a Ford dealer or a Lincoln-Mercury-Meteor dealer, but not both; a Mercury-badged version was sold at Lincoln-Mercury-Meteor dealers there from 1946 to 1968. Other than the grilles, trim, and badging, these pickups are identical to their Ford counterparts.

First generation (1948–52)

The first-generation F-Series pickup (known as the Ford Bonus-Built) was introduced in 1948 as a replacement for the previous car-based pickup line introduced in 1942. The F-Series was sold in eight different weight ratings, with pickup, panel truck, cab-over engine (COE), conventional truck, and school bus chassis body styles.

Ford Super Duty

The Ford Super Duty is a line of trucks (over 8,500 lb (3,900 kg) GVWR) that were launched by Ford in early 1998 for the 1999 model year. The F-250 to F-550 Super Duties are assembled at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky. The F-650 and F-750 Super Duties were assembled at the Blue Diamond Truck plant in Mexico prior to 2014, when production was shifted to Avon Lake, Ohio.

The Super Duty trucks are larger, heavier built series pickup trucks with heavier-duty body-on-frame steel ladder frames, axles, springs, brakes, transmissions, more powerful engines, and all other heavier/bigger components (with much higher payload and towing capacities) than the older traditional equivalent F-250, F-250HD (Heavy Duty), and F-350 Ford truck lines (where from 1987 to 1997 the F-250, F250HD, F-350, and F-Super Duty were all chassis cab models only). The two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive model frames are the same in the F-250 and F-350 series, making conversion from a two-wheel-drive model to a four-wheel-drive model less difficult than in other truck models. F-350 chassis cab, F-450 and F-550 frames and suspension are the same between the two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive models. The trucks were once under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for steering failures, but the investigation revealed the failures were driver error and had nothing to do with design.

Trademark

A trademark, trade mark, or trade-mark is a recognizable sign, design, or expression which identifies products or services of a particular source from those of others, although trademarks used to identify services are usually called service marks. The trademark owner can be an individual, business organization, or any legal entity. A trademark may be located on a package, a label, a voucher, or on the product itself. For the sake of corporate identity, trademarks are being displayed on company buildings.

Usage

A trademark identifies the brand owner of a particular product or service. Trademarks can be licensed to others; for example, Bullyland obtained a license to produce Smurf figurines; the Lego Group purchased a license from Lucasfilm in order to be allowed to launch Lego Star Wars; TT Toys Toys is a manufacturer of licensed ride-on replica cars for children. The unauthorized usage of trademarks by producing and trading counterfeit consumer goods is known as brand piracy.

The owner of a trademark may pursue legal action against trademark infringement. Most countries require formal registration of a trademark as a precondition for pursuing this type of action. The United States, Canada and other countries also recognize common law trademark rights, which means action can be taken to protect an unregistered trademark if it is in use. Still common law trademarks offer the holder in general less legal protection than registered trademarks.

Ford Power Stroke engine

Power Stroke is a line of diesel engines found in Ford Diesel trucks, Ford Excursion SUVs, Ford Econoline vans, Ford LCF commercial vehicles and the Brazilian Ford Ranger. The V8 engines were produced by Navistar International Corp. until 2010 when Ford decided to build their diesel engine completely in-house. The Power Stroke engines compete primarily in the United States full-size pickup truck market with the Duramax V8 from General Motors/Isuzu and the B series straight 6 from Cummins.

7.3 powerstroke

The 7.3L Power Stroke diesel was available from September 1994 Until April 2003 in Ford Econoline vans, the SUV Ford Excursion and Ford heavy duty pickups. It effectively replaced the 7.3 IDI with which it shared nothing other than displacement size.

The Power Stroke is an electronically controlled, direct injection engine with a 4.11 in (104 mm) bore and 4.18 in (106 mm) stroke creating a displacement of 444 cu in (7.3 L). It has a 17.5:1 compression ratio, and has a dry weight of approximately 920 lb (420 kg). This engine produced up to 250 hp (190 kW) and 505 lb·ft (685 N·m) of torque in automatic-transmission trucks during the last years of production, and 275 hp (205 kW) and 525 lb·ft (712 N·m) of torque in manual-transmission trucks. The oil capacity is 18 quarts. The oil pan holds 15 quarts while the top end holds an additional 3 quarts.
