SEMA'S BIO:
Sema was found orphaned, wandering the jungle in Mondulkiri Province. Her mother had been shot by hunters. She was only one year old at the time she was rescued by the Department of Forestry and Wildlife in Cambodia and brought to Phnom Tamao Rescue Center in Phnom Penh. Sema was too young to paint when we first met her, but had begun painting lessons about two years ago. With the help of her mahouts, Mr. Tam and Mr. Rah, Sema was already developing her own style
In these developmental years, Sema and Lucky became best mates and were almost inseperable. Like most young elephants, Sema was a little curious and even quite mischievious at times. She was very good natured and happy with her new family at the Rescue Center. Unfortunately, and perhaps due to her rough start in life, Sema passed away this past year after falling very ill. She will always hold a special place in all our hearts and is missed dearly by everyone at Tamao. May she live on through her work.
