One of the finest Arbuckle Keaton comedies, The Cook was released 1918 by Comique Films. Lost for decades, the nitrate was discovered in the basement of a Dutch museum. Filmed entirely along the Pike and on the Silver Spray Pier in Long Beach, California. Most of the music in the soundtrack was generated by a Fotoplayer. a special kind of player piano/orchestrion used in movie houses in the World War I era. A faithful attempt was made to give the viewer of this old film a taste of the same music that the audience in 1918 would have heard if you were in one of the 24000 theaters that owned a Fotoplayer.

The guys are heading to Fish the heart of Sydney the Cooks River once regarded as one of Sydneys most polluted water ways flowing into Botany Bay.
Over the last 20 years this little river and all river have now turn the corner and bounced back and the water quality today is at its best and the sea life has return in abundance.
Boy spend the day motoring up the river cast small lures and soft plastics at bridge pylons, Rock walls and any structure along the river looking for Bream & Flathead, great way to spend the day.

The Cook
The Cook is a 1918 American silent film starring Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle and Buster Keaton. The movie is a slapstick comedy and focuses on goings-on at a high-end restaurant with Arbuckle as the Cook and Keaton as the Waiter.
The film is notable for a scene spoofing the 1918 Theda Bara film Salomé, with Arbuckle dancing around with a length of sausage links and pots and pans. It also contains many of Arbuckle's favorite food gags and some great work by Keaton.
Preservation status
The movie was believed to be a lost film for several decades before a damaged nitrate print was uncovered in the Norwegian Film Archive in 1998 in an unmarked canister with A Reckless Romeo (1917). More footage was found in The Netherlands in 2002. The film is currently available on DVD as The Cook and Other Treasures.

The Cook Islands (
i/ˈkʊk ˈaɪləndz/; Cook Islands Māori: Kūki 'Āirani) is an island country in the South Pacific Ocean in free association with New Zealand. It comprises 15 islands whose total land area is 240 square kilometres (92.7 sq mi). The Cook Islands' Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), however, covers 1,800,000 square kilometres (690,000 sq mi) of ocean.
The Cook Islands' defence and foreign affairs are the responsibility of New Zealand, but they are exercised in consultation with the Cook Islands. In recent times, the Cook Islands have adopted an increasingly independent foreign policy. Although Cook Islanders are citizens of New Zealand, they have the status of Cook Islands nationals, which is not given to other New Zealand citizens.
The Cook Islands' main population centres are on the island of Rarotonga (10,572 in 2011), where there is an international airport. There is a larger population of Cook Islanders in New Zealand, particularly the North Island. In the 2006 census, 58,008 self-identified as being of ethnic Cook Islands Māori descent.

Adult Swim (stylized as [adult swim] or [as]) is an American cable network that shares channel space with Cartoon Network, both of which are owned by Turner Broadcasting System, a division of Time Warner, Inc., every night from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Eastern and Pacific Time in the United States. The network is programmed by Williams Street Studios, a division of Turner Broadcasting System, which also developed two prior television programming blocks seen on Cartoon Network: Toonami (which later became a block on Adult Swim in 2012) and Miguzi. The name comes from a phrase used by public swimming pools to label designated times when children are restricted from using the facilities in favor of adults: "Adult Swim".
Debuting as a programming block on Cartoon Network in 2001, Adult Swim was established as alternative programming during the late night hours when Cartoon Network's primary target audience, children and teenagers between the ages of 7–15, would normally be sleeping. Much of Adult Swim's general content is known for its risqué, unorthodox and often bizarre presentation, while many of the series features are developed in stark contrast with traditional American television programs. The network was granted its own Nielsen ratings report due to differing target demographics, and broadcasts in countries such as Australia and New Zealand. The block features stylistically varied animated and live-action shows including original programming, syndicated series mainly consisting of Fox animated programming, short films, OVAs, and Japanese anime, generally with minimal or no editing for content.

The Hook
The Hook or Hookman is a classic urban legend. The basic premise involves a young couple parking at a lovers' lane. The radio plays while they make out. Suddenly, a news bulletin reports that a serial killer has just escaped from a nearby institution. The killer has a hook for one of his hands. For varying reasons, they decide to leave quickly. In the end, the killer's hook is found hanging from the door handle. Different variations include a scraping sound on the car door. Some versions start the same way, but have the couple spotting the killer, warning others, and then narrowly escaping with the killer holding onto the car's roof. The couple are later killed.
In an alternate version, the couple drive through an unknown part of the country late at night and stop in the middle of the woods, because either the male has to relieve himself, or the car breaks down and the man leaves for help. While waiting for him to return, the female turns on the radio and hears the report of an escaped mental patient. She is then disturbed many times by a thumping on the roof of the car. She eventually exits and sees the escaped patient sitting on the roof, banging the male's severed head on it. Another variation has the female seeing the male's butchered body suspended upside down from a tree with his fingers scraping the roof.

The Cook Islands were named by the Russians in the early 1800’s in honor of the Captain James Cook. On his third world voyage, Cook landed on several islands in the Southern Cook Island Group. In the early 1800s the name "Cook Islands" showed up on a Russian naval chart and it stuck. 5. Think 'Cook Islands' and you think 'beaches,' but one of the best kept secrets in the Cook Islands is the beautiful island of Aitutaki. The turquoise lagoon, white sands and thick palm forests make for an incredible backdrop for your trip. 6. The Cook Islands became a British protectorate in 1888, due largely to community fears that France might occupy the territory as it had Tahiti. On 6 September 1900, the leading islanders presented a petition asking that the islands (including Niue "if possible") should be annexed as British territory. 7. The Cook Islands were first settled in the 6th century by Polynesian people who migrated from Tahiti, an island 1,154 kilometres to the northeast. The journeys undertaken by these stone age people in their fragile craft dwarf the voyages of exploration boasted of by the Portuguese, Spanish, British, Dutch, and French. Over-population on many of the tiny islands of Polynesia led to these oceanic migrations. One of the finest Arbuckle Keaton comedies, The Cook was released 1918 by Comique Films. Lost for decades, the nitrate was discovered in the basement of a Dutch museum. Filmed entirely along the Pike and on the Silver Spray Pier in Long Beach, California. Most of the music in the soundtrack was generated by a Fotoplayer. a special kind of player piano/orchestrion used in movie houses in the World War I era. A faithful attempt was made to give the viewer of this old film a taste of the same music that the audience in 1918 would have heard if you were in one of the 24000 theaters that owned a Fotoplayer. One of the finest Arbuckle Keaton comedies, The Cook was released 1918 by Comique Films. Lost for decades, the nitrate was discovered in the basement of a Dutch museum. Filmed entirely along the Pike and on the Silver Spray Pier in Long Beach, California. Most of the music in the soundtrack was generated by a Fotoplayer. a special kind of player piano/orchestrion used in movie houses in the World War I era. A faithful attempt was made to give the viewer of this old film a taste of the same music that the audience in 1918 would have heard if you were in one of the 24000 theaters that owned a Fotoplayer.
Thanks to Joe Rinaudo for the Fotoplayer Music. New storyboards and period music added.

The guys are heading to Fish the heart of Sydney the Cooks River once regarded as one of Sydneys most polluted water ways flowing into Botany Bay.
Over the last 20 years this little river and all river have now turn the corner and bounced back and the water quality today is at its best and the sea life has return in abundance.
Boy spend the day motoring up the river cast small lures and soft plastics at bridge pylons, Rock walls and any structure along the river looking for Bream & Flathead, great way to spend the day.

1. The Cook Islands is a self-governing island country in the South Pacific Ocean in free association with New Zealand. The Cook Islands' defence and foreign affairs are the responsibility of New Zealand, but they are exercised in consultation with the Cook Islands. Although Cook Islanders are citizens of New Zealand, they have the status of Cook Islands nationals, which is not given to other New Zealand citizens.
2. The Cook Islands are the world’s second largest producer of black pearls.
3. The chief town, Avarua is located on the north coast of Rarotonga, and it is the capital of the Cook Islands.
4. The Cook Islands were named by the Russians in the early 1800’s in honor of the Captain James Cook. On his third world voyage, Cook landed on several islands in the Southern Cook Island Group. In the early 1800s the name "Cook Islands" showed up on a Russian naval chart and it stuck.
5. Think 'Cook Islands' and you think 'beaches,' but one of the best kept secrets in the Cook Islands is the beautiful island of Aitutaki. The turquoise lagoon, white sands and thick palm forests make for an incredible backdrop for your trip.
6. The Cook Islands became a British protectorate in 1888, due largely to community fears that France might occupy the territory as it had Tahiti. On 6 September 1900, the leading islanders presented a petition asking that the islands (including Niue "if possible") should be annexed as British territory.
7. The Cook Islands were first settled in the 6th century by Polynesian people who migrated from Tahiti, an island 1,154 kilometres to the northeast. The journeys undertaken by these stone age people in their fragile craft dwarf the voyages of exploration boasted of by the Portuguese, Spanish, British, Dutch, and French. Over-population on many of the tiny islands of Polynesia led to these oceanic migrations.

The Cook~Fatty Arbuckle and Buster Keaton~1918 /w1915 Fotoplayer soundtrack
One of the finest Arbuckle Keaton comedies, The Cook was released 1918 by Comique Films. Lost for decades, the nitrate was discovered in the basement of a Dutch museum. Filmed entirely along the Pike and on the Silver Spray Pier in Long Beach, California. Most of the music in the soundtrack was generated by a Fotoplayer. a special kind of player piano/orchestrion used in movie houses in the World War I era. A faithful attempt was made to give the viewer of this old film a taste of the same music that the audience in 1918 would have heard if you were in one of the 24000 theaters that owned a Fotoplayer. Thanks to Joe Rinaudo for the Fotoplayer Music. New storyboards and period music added.

On 4 August 1965 the Cook Islands achieved self-government from New Zealand. As nzhistory.net notes, New Zealand’s formal ties with the Cook Islands began as a result of a petition it had induced some local chiefs to present. In 1901 the Federal Parliament of the Cooks was abolished. The islands were now governed by a Resident Commissioner sent to Rarotonga by the New Zealand government. Trotro is playing hide and seek with Lili. It’s always really difficult to hide when you have ears like Trotro’s and so Lili always wins. But when it comes to playing tag, Trotro is the fastest.
02 - Trotro has a nice satchel
Trotro won’t take his satchel off any more, not even for playing in the garden with Lili and Nana. But this isn’t practical. He can’t do any skipping, his sand castle has got knocked over and he can’t climb up the steps on the slide.
03 - Trotro the little monster
Trotro has decided to be a little monster. He successfully tries out his new talent on his parents….. but then this new little monster suddenly gets frightened by….. a tiny little animal. !
04 - Trotro can read
Trotro is reading a book to Teddy. It’s as if Trotro is actually reading it because even though he does not know how to read the words, he knows the story off by heart. Teddy never ever gets bored when Trotro tells him a story, but when Mummy reads one, Teddy always falls asleep.
05 - Trotro goes shopping
Trotro loves pushing his own trolley around the shop and choosing all the things that are needed in the house. Daddy’s mind is on other things and so he really isn’t paying much attention. But when Daddy and Trotro get to the check out.
06 - Trotro the musician
That’s it !! All decided !! Trotro wants to become a musician. He plays the accordion, blows in a trumpet….. In the kitchen he turns a saucepan into a drum…. Bang bang bang!! He proudly marches around playing in front of Mummy.
07 - Trotro and the rain
As soon as it stops raining, Trotro and Teddy go out for a walk. They jump in all the puddles and slide and splash around everywhere. You can just imagine!! They end up just as wet as if they had gone out in the rain in the first place!
08 - Trotro plays in bed
Trotro does not want to get up this morning. He would rather play, or make a big top for a circus, or imagine he is sailing along on a raft. Mummy calling him has no effect. Only Lili and Nana manage to get him out of bed.
09 - Trotro’s in love
Trotro is in love with Nana but Nana does not want to play with him. She is worried that if she goes out she will ruin her dress. So Trotro goes and plays with Lili. When Nana sees them happily playing in the sand together, she gets quite jealous.
10 - Trotro makes some soup
Trotro is having a tea party with Teddy. To make some soup, he needs some grass, some pebbles and some water. Trotro stirs all the ingredients and asks his parents to taste it. But Mummy’s soup still tastes better.
11 - Trotro tidies his room
Mummy asks Trotro to tidy away the toys that are lying all over the floor in his bedroom. But Trotro decides to undertake a major tidy up operation of everything and starts by taking everything out of his bookcase.
12 - Trotro washes teddy
Trotro has knocked his chocolate over Teddy. To wash him, Mummy puts Teddy in the washing machine. But it’s not so easy to dry Teddy afterwards. But Trotro’s efforts are all worth it in the end – there is nothing as good as sleeping with a nice clean Teddy.
13 - Trotro and the fish
Trotro does not want to eat his fish, and so has to find a way of getting out of this. He has more than a trick or two up his sleeve, much to the admiration of Lili and Nana.
14 - Trotro and the christmas tree
Daddy and Trotro are going to fetch a Christmas tree from the garden. Trotro becomes impatient and when Mummy has gone out to do some shopping, Trotro decides to decorate the tree all on his own in his own style.
15 - Trotro won’t share
Trotro is drawing in his room, and Lili is with him. He doesn’t want her to touch any of his pencils or any of his toys. Every time Trotro finishes with something, he won’t share it with Lili. So Lili come back with her own roller skates, and is really enjoying herself.
16 - Trotro goes sledging
Look at all that snow ! It certainly makes Trotro want to go sledging. But going up and down the hill all the time is really tiring. Luckily, Lili comes to hep him, and now sliding down becomes a lot more fun.
17 - Trotro has a nap
It’s time for a nap. But Trotro doesn’t want to go to sleep and would prefer playing hide and seek with Teddy. Trotro would be better off listening to his Daddy, as spending an afternoon with Lili is going to be a little tiring.
18 - Trotro the cook
Trotro decides to make a blackberry tart with Mummy. Whilst Mummy is making the pastry, Trotro goes and picks blackberries in the garden.
19 - Trotro and his bed
Trotro loves sleeping in Mummy and Daddy’s bed. Every time Daddy takes him back to his own room, Trotro comes straight back into his parent’s room!
20 - Trotro wears a disguise
Trotro decides to dress up as a tiger. Like all good tigers, Trotro goes off to hunt for food, which invariably leads him to the kitchen.

Trotro is playing hide and seek with Lili. It’s always really difficult to hide when you have ears like Trotro’s and so Lili always wins. But when it comes to playing tag, Trotro is the fastest.
02 - Trotro has a nice satchel
Trotro won’t take his satchel off any more, not even for playing in the garden with Lili and Nana. But this isn’t practical. He can’t do any skipping, his sand castle has got knocked over and he can’t climb up the steps on the slide.
03 - Trotro the little monster
Trotro has decided to be a little monster. He successfully tries out his new talent on his parents….. but then this new little monster suddenly gets frightened by….. a tiny little animal. !
04 - Trotro can read
Trotro is reading a book to Teddy. It’s as if Trotro is actually reading it because even though he does not know how to read the words, he knows the story off by heart. Teddy never ever gets bored when Trotro tells him a story, but when Mummy reads one, Teddy always falls asleep.
05 - Trotro goes shopping
Trotro loves pushing his own trolley around the shop and choosing all the things that are needed in the house. Daddy’s mind is on other things and so he really isn’t paying much attention. But when Daddy and Trotro get to the check out.
06 - Trotro the musician
That’s it !! All decided !! Trotro wants to become a musician. He plays the accordion, blows in a trumpet….. In the kitchen he turns a saucepan into a drum…. Bang bang bang!! He proudly marches around playing in front of Mummy.
07 - Trotro and the rain
As soon as it stops raining, Trotro and Teddy go out for a walk. They jump in all the puddles and slide and splash around everywhere. You can just imagine!! They end up just as wet as if they had gone out in the rain in the first place!
08 - Trotro plays in bed
Trotro does not want to get up this morning. He would rather play, or make a big top for a circus, or imagine he is sailing along on a raft. Mummy calling him has no effect. Only Lili and Nana manage to get him out of bed.
09 - Trotro’s in love
Trotro is in love with Nana but Nana does not want to play with him. She is worried that if she goes out she will ruin her dress. So Trotro goes and plays with Lili. When Nana sees them happily playing in the sand together, she gets quite jealous.
10 - Trotro makes some soup
Trotro is having a tea party with Teddy. To make some soup, he needs some grass, some pebbles and some water. Trotro stirs all the ingredients and asks his parents to taste it. But Mummy’s soup still tastes better.
11 - Trotro tidies his room
Mummy asks Trotro to tidy away the toys that are lying all over the floor in his bedroom. But Trotro decides to undertake a major tidy up operation of everything and starts by taking everything out of his bookcase.
12 - Trotro washes teddy
Trotro has knocked his chocolate over Teddy. To wash him, Mummy puts Teddy in the washing machine. But it’s not so easy to dry Teddy afterwards. But Trotro’s efforts are all worth it in the end – there is nothing as good as sleeping with a nice clean Teddy.
13 - Trotro and the fish
Trotro does not want to eat his fish, and so has to find a way of getting out of this. He has more than a trick or two up his sleeve, much to the admiration of Lili and Nana.
14 - Trotro and the christmas tree
Daddy and Trotro are going to fetch a Christmas tree from the garden. Trotro becomes impatient and when Mummy has gone out to do some shopping, Trotro decides to decorate the tree all on his own in his own style.
15 - Trotro won’t share
Trotro is drawing in his room, and Lili is with him. He doesn’t want her to touch any of his pencils or any of his toys. Every time Trotro finishes with something, he won’t share it with Lili. So Lili come back with her own roller skates, and is really enjoying herself.
16 - Trotro goes sledging
Look at all that snow ! It certainly makes Trotro want to go sledging. But going up and down the hill all the time is really tiring. Luckily, Lili comes to hep him, and now sliding down becomes a lot more fun.
17 - Trotro has a nap
It’s time for a nap. But Trotro doesn’t want to go to sleep and would prefer playing hide and seek with Teddy. Trotro would be better off listening to his Daddy, as spending an afternoon with Lili is going to be a little tiring.
18 - Trotro the cook
Trotro decides to make a blackberry tart with Mummy. Whilst Mummy is making the pastry, Trotro goes and picks blackberries in the garden.
19 - Trotro and his bed
Trotro loves sleeping in Mummy and Daddy’s bed. Every time Daddy takes him back to his own room, Trotro comes straight back into his parent’s room!
20 - Trotro wears a disguise
Trotro decides to dress up as a tiger. Like all good tigers, Trotro goes off to hunt for food, which invariably leads him to the kitchen.

On 4 August 1965 the Cook Islands achieved self-government from New Zealand. As nzhistory.net notes, New Zealand’s formal ties with the Cook Islands began as a result of a petition it had induced some local chiefs to present. In 1901 the Federal Parliament of the Cooks was abolished. The islands were now governed by a Resident Commissioner sent to Rarotonga by the New Zealand government. This ended after the Legislative Assembly declared its intention to achieve internal self-government in 1962, leading to the New Zealand’s Cook Islands Constitution Act 1964.
The films shown here, Cook Islands Looks Ahead, was produced by the National Film Unit and shows a survey of Cook Islands preparations in 1965 for internal self-government. Developments in industry, education and health services are shown too. There is also footage of the opening of the first Assembly under a new Constitution and the following celebrations.
The National Film Unit was established to publicise New Zealand's participation and achievements during the Second World War. After 1945 the Film Unit expanded from producing weekly newsreels to making documentaries and films to the order of Government Departments. During its existence the Film Unit produced films for national organisations as well as many films on its own initiative. The private film industry in New Zealand relied heavily on the National Film Unit's extensive film processing facilities.
