Oscar Álvarez may refer to:
Oscar Alvarez is a Honduras Nationalist politician who is Minister of Public Security in the government of Porfirio Lobo, a position which he held from January 27, 2002 to November 14, 2005 in the government of Ricardo Maduro.
Álvarez is in charge of all internal security for Honduras. In his first term he played a key role in helping to implement Homeland Security’s CSI (Container Security Initiative), which gave Hondurans the ability to ship containers to any port in the United States without major security restrictions.
Álvarez also worked closely with several United States agencies in the fight against organized crime, narcotics trafficking, terrorism, human smuggling, and gangs. Such agencies include but are not limited to: Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). His attempts to make Honduras safer led to a tough crackdown on gangs that saw many gang members put in jail.
Óscar David Álvarez Orrego (born 29 March 1983) is a Colombian professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour Latinoamérica.
Early in his career, Álvarez was named Colombia's Amateur Golfer of the Year in 2000. As an amateur, he qualified for the 2004 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club but failed to make the cut after shooting rounds of 78 and 80. Following this he qualified for the 2004 U.S. Amateur.
At college level, he played at Brigham Young University and was a two time All-American before graduating in 2006.
After graduating from the university, Álvarez turned professional in 2006 and joined the Tour de las Américas while also playing on the Colombian Tour. From 2007 he also played on the NGA Hooters Tour. In April 2009, Álvarez won his first professional tournament at the Georgia Sports Orthopedic Specialists Classic on the NGA Hooters Tour. During 2009, he also won the Abierto del Club Campestre de Medellín on the Colombian Tour and in July won his first event on the Tour de las Américas at the 51st Abierto Internacional Ciudad de Bucaramanga A fourth win of the 2009 season came at the XI Abierto de Golf del Serrezuela Country Club in November on the Colombian Tour.
