Wing Chun (Chinese: 詠春; pinyin: yǒng chūn; Jyutping: wing6 ceon1; literally: "spring chant"), also romanised as Ving Tsun or Wing Tsun, (and sometimes substituted with the characters 永春 "eternal springtime"); is a concept-based Chinese martial art and form of self-defense utilising both striking and grappling while specialising in close-range combat.
The alternative characters 永春 "eternal spring" are also associated with some other southern Chinese martial arts, including Weng Chun Kung Fu and Yong Chun .
The earliest known mentions of Wing Chun date to the period of Red Boat Opera.
The common legend as told by Yip Man involves the young woman Yim Wing-chun during the period after the destruction by the Qing government of the Southern Shaolin and its associated temples.
Having rebuffed the local warlord's marriage offer, Yim Wing-Chun said she'd reconsider the proposal if he could beat her in a fight. She soon crossed paths with a Buddhist nun named Ng Mui, who was one of the Shaolin Sect survivors, and asked the nun to teach her to fight. According to legend Ng Mui taught Yim Wing-Chun a new system of martial art that had been inspired by the nun's observations of a confrontation between a Snake and a Crane. This then-still nameless style enabled Yim Wing-Chun to beat the warlord in a one-on-one fight. Yim Wing-Chun thereafter married Leung Bac-Chou and taught him the style, which was later named after her.

Holder was born in Kilburn, London. He began his football career as an apprentice with Tottenham Hotspur in 1969 and remained with the club for five years. He played only 13 times in the Football League, but played six games in European competition, including a substitute appearance in the second leg of the 1974 UEFA Cup Final. He joined Crystal Palace in February 1975, and played 112 games in all competitions for the club, before spending a summer in the North American Soccer League with the Memphis Rogues. He returned to England and signed for Bournemouth of the Fourth Division in March 1979, before ending his playing career, to go into coaching.

Chinese martial arts, often labeled under the umbrella terms Kung Fu (/ˈkʊŋ ˈfuː/; Chinese: 功夫; pinyin: gong fu) and Wushu (武术), are the several hundreds of fighting styles that have developed over the centuries in China. These fighting styles are often classified according to common traits, identified as "families" (家; jiā), "sects" (派; pài) or "schools" (門; mén) of martial arts. Examples of such traits include Shaolinquan (少林拳) physical exercises involving Five Animals (五形) mimicry, or training methods inspired by Chinese philosophies, religions and legends. Styles that focus on qi manipulation are called internal (内家拳; nèijiāquán), while others that concentrate on improving muscle and cardiovascular fitness are called "external" (外家拳; wàijiāquán). Geographical association, as in northern (北拳; běiquán) and "southern" (南拳; nánquán), is another popular classification method.
Kung fu and wushu are loanwords from Chinese that, in English, are used to refer to Chinese martial arts. However, the Chinese terms kung fu and wushu ( listen (Mandarin) ; Cantonese: móuh-seuht) have distinct meanings. The Chinese equivalent of the term "Chinese martial arts" would be Zhongguo wushu (Chinese: 中國武術; pinyin: zhōngguó wǔshù) (Mandarin).

How is hypnosis different from psychology or CBT? What is the difference between hypnosis, meditation, visualization and relaxation techniques, etc? Does hypnosis have a scientific basis? From Our FREE Mini-Course Series: The Magic Stick (Breaking Unwanted Connections). To children, the world is a magical place where anything can be real. It doesn't matter if things have a basis in scientific fact. The subconscious is like a child. It either accepts an idea or it does not. At movies, you become emotionally engaged, ignoring the fact that you are watching actors on a set. It's called, “Creating A Suspended State Of Disbelief”. When you buy your ticket, you are agreeing to suspend disbelief. The same is true when using hypnosis. Churches, Synagogues, Fraternal Organizations would cease to exist without ritual. Ritual bonds people to an idea. Childlike imaginative quality, combined...Visit https://www.masters-center.com/free-mini-courses/ to see a list of all mini-courses curr...

An exercise, like Chi Sao is for the purpose of developing a specific skill. Exercises and applications are two entirely different things. When you see the words “Applied Chi Sao Concepts” appear on the screen, you will be watching the skill learned from the Chi Sao exercise in practical application. When you’re sparring or in an actual fight, leave the exercise back at the school and use the skill that you’ve developed through the exercise. Philip Burnham may have graduated Harvard, and acquired a PhD in Medieval History, but he still revels in the ordinary as well as the extraordinary in his work. Burnham, an educator at area secondary schools and Colleges for many years, writes as well about Baseball, Boston’s Redline and the search for ice cream as he does about a rarefied piece of art, or the mysteries of the universe. Burnham has published two poetry collections with Somerville’s Ibbetson Street Press: “Sailing From Boston,” “Housekeeping,” as well as a collection from the Cervena Barva Press: “Careful Scattering,” among others. His poetry has appeared in numerous publications, and has been read on “Writer’s Almanac” on National Public radio. I spoke with Burnham on my Somerville Community Access TV show “Poet to Poet: W...

We welcome your feedback: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GMSZMXH This case was filed by Swiss and Uruguayan subsidiaries of the tobacco giant Philip Morris International (jointly referred to as “Philip Morris” or the “Claimants”) in 2010, on the basis of the 1988 bilateral investment treaty (BIT) between Switzerland and Uruguay and the Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of Other States (ICSID Convention). So 2 days after my 13th birthday I decided I'd make a video of one of my strange hobbies... Building a card tower. This is a very dull video but does show me at quite a young state unseen in any of my other videos. Back at this point in time I had no internet! Yep, so wonder I was such a strange kid trying to do magic tricks. This was ripped straight from a mini cd and was not edited in anyway. I attempted to turn it into a magic trick video by getting my dad to start and stop recording at certain times but obviously it didn't work too well as you can see. You will also notice this was filmed in our old apartment which we moved from in 2010.

The principle of Propositions as Types links logic to computation. At first sight it appears to be a simple coincidence---almost a pun---but it turns out to be remarkably robust, inspiring the design of theorem provers and programming languages, and continuing to influence the forefronts of computing. Propositions as Types has many names and many origins, and is a notion with depth, breadth, and mystery. Learn why functional programming is (and is not) the universal programming language.
