Allen Harold "Al" Neuharth (born March 22, 1924, Eureka, South Dakota) is an American businessman, author, and columnist. He is the founder of USA Today, The Freedom Forum, and its Newseum.

Neuharth’s parents were Daniel J. and Christina (who married on January 11, 1916). Daniel died when Allen was two. Allen needed to help his family survive the Great Depression. He worked on his grandfather’s farm.^{[clarification needed]} As a youngster, he also delivered the Minneapolis Tribune but he gave that up for a better paying job in the meat industry, sweeping up in the meat plants and slaughtering animals. Neuharth graduated high school from Alpena High School, Alpena, SD, where he was editor of the school's newspaper, the Alpena Journal. At the age of 19, Neuharth served in the Army during World War II. As a member of the 86th Infantry Division, Neuharth was deployed to France, Germany and the Philippines.

After the war, Neuharth attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, where he edited the school newspaper, The Volante. He maintains an affiliation with the university and has an office in the Contemporary Media and Journalism building, The Al Neuharth Media Center. He offers a scholarship called "The Al Neuharth Free Spirit Scholarship" honoring graduating high school students who exemplify the qualities of a "free spirit" and aim to pursue a career in journalism.

Richard P. "Richie" Havens (born January 21, 1941) is an African American folk singer and guitarist. He is best known for his intense, rhythmic guitar style (often in open tunings), soulful covers of pop and folk songs, and his opening performance at the 1969 Woodstock Festival.

Born in Brooklyn, Havens was the eldest of nine children. At an early age, he began organizing his neighborhood friends into street corner doo-wop groups and was performing with The McCrea Gospel Singers at 16. At age 20, Havens left Brooklyn, seeking artistic stimulation in Greenwich Village. "I saw the Village as a place to escape to, in order to express yourself," he recalls. "I had first gone there during the Beatnik days of the 1950s to perform poetry, then I drew portraits for two years and stayed up all night listening to folk music in the clubs. It took a while before I thought of picking up a guitar."^{[citation needed]}

Havens' reputation as a solo performer soon spread beyond the Village folk circles. After cutting 2 records for Douglas Records, Havens signed on with Bob Dylan's manager Albert Grossman, and landed a record deal with the Verve Forecast label. Verve released Mixed Bag in 1967, which featured tracks like "Handsome Johnny" (co-written by Havens and future Oscar-winning actor Louis Gossett Jr.), "Follow", and a cover of Bob Dylan's "Just Like a Woman". By 1969, he had released five more albums. Something Else Again (1968) became Havens' first album to hit the Billboard chart and also pulled Mixed Bag back onto the charts.

George Allen "Pat" Summerall (born May 10, 1930) is a former American football player and television sportscaster, having worked at CBS, Fox, and ESPN.

Summerall is best known for his work with John Madden on NFL telecasts for CBS and Fox.

At Columbia High School in Lake City, Florida, Summerall played football, tennis, baseball, and basketball.^{[dead link]} Although basketball was his favorite sport, he was recognized as an All-State selection in basketball and football. He was inducted into the FHSAA hall of fame and was later named to the FHSAA's All-Century Team.

Summerall played college football from 1949 to 1951 at the University of Arkansas, where he played defensive end, tight end, and placekicker positions. He graduated from UA in 1953.

Summerall spent ten years as a professional football player in the National Football League, primarily as a placekicker. The Detroit Lions drafted Summerall as a fourth-round draft choice in the 1952 NFL Draft. Summerall played the pre-season with the Lions before breaking his arm, which ended the year for him. After that season, he was traded and went on to play for the Chicago Cardinals from 1953 to 1957 and the New York Giants from 1958 to 1961, during which he was a part of The Greatest Game Ever Played. His best professional year statistically was 1959, when Summerall scored 90 points on 30-for-30 (100%) extra-point kicking and 20-for-29 (69%) field goal kicking.

Frank Bank (born April 12, 1942) is an American actor, particularly known for his role as Clarence 'Lumpy' Rutherford on the situation comedy television series Leave It to Beaver.

Bank is a bond broker in Los Angeles, California. His autobiography, Call Me Lumpy: My Leave It To Beaver Days and Other Wild Hollywood Life, was published in 2002.

David Horsey (born 1951) is a Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist in the United States. His cartoons appeared in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer until December 2011 and in the Los Angeles Times currently and are syndicated to newspapers nationwide.

Horsey was born in Evansville, Indiana and moved to Seattle, Washington at age 3. He began perfecting his craft as a cartoonist in the Cascade, the school newspaper at Ingraham High School. He was a French horn player in the Seattle Youth Symphony. He attended the University of Washington, where, as a freshman, he became the editorial cartoonist of the student newspaper The Daily. He went on to become the first editorial cartoonist to be chosen as editor-in-chief of The Daily. He graduated in 1976 with a degree in communications.

Horsey's first job was as a reporter for the Bellevue Journal-American, but in 1979 he was hired to be the editorial cartoonist of the Post-Intelligencer. In 1986, he earned a master's degree in international relations from the University of Kent in England. In 2004 he received an honorary doctorate degree from Seattle University.
