Mo Hayder

Mo Hayder (born 1962) is a British author of crime and thriller fiction.

She is the author of eight novels. Her debut, Birdman, was published in January 2000 and was an international bestseller. Her second novel, The Treatment, was a Sunday Times bestseller and won the 2002 WH Smith Thumping Good Read award. Her third novel, Tokyo, was published in May 2004 and was another Sunday Times bestseller. Tokyo was published as The Devil of Nanking in the United States in March 2005. Pig Island was her fourth best seller and was published in April 2006. Pig Island was nominated for both a Barry Award for Best British crime novel, and a CWA dagger. Her fifth book, Ritual was the first in The Walking Man series, and was nominated for CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger award. Skin is the second book in The Walking Man series, and was released in early 2009. Gone, the third book in The Walking Man series, was released in February 2011; it won the Edgar Award for Best Novel. Her latest novel is Hanging Hill, published 2011.

Gone (Mono album)

Gone: A Collection of EPs 2000-2007 is a compilation album by Japanese rock band Mono, released in 2007. It is a compilation of several EPs and non-album tracks, ordered chronologically. Limited to 3,000 copies, some of which are on colored vinyl.

Singles

The first single, "See Me Shine", featuring Lyfe Jennings and Jay Rush, was produced and co-written by Excel Beats who was also the original creator of the song which was created in 2005. It was released by Bone on October 20, 2009. The second single from the album was "Rebirth", featuring Thin C, released on February 15, 2010. The song was produced by Pooh Bear and King David. The third single, "Meet Me in the Sky", was released on March 22, 2010. "Gangsta's Glory" was released as a free download on the group's official website on January 28, 2010. The song was produced by Matt Velo. The album version of "See Me Shine" is different from the earlier released single version, in that it does not feature Phaedra and Lyfe Jennings.

Baronet

A baronet (/bærənɪt/ or /bærənɛt/; abbreviated "Bart" or "Bt") or the rare female equivalent, a baronetess (/bærəˈnɛtɛs/; abbreviation "Btss"), is the holder of a baronetcy, a hereditary title awarded by the British Crown. The practice of awarding baronetcies was originally introduced in England in the 14th century and was used by James I of England in 1611 in order to raise funds.

A baronetcy is the only British hereditary honour which is not a peerage, with the exception of the Anglo-Irish Black Knight, White Knight and Green Knight (of which only The Green Knight is still extant). A baronet is addressed as "Sir", the same as a knight (or "Dame" for a baronetess), but ranks above all knighthoods and damehoods in the Order of precedence, except for the Order of the Garter and the Order of the Thistle (and the defunct Order of St Patrick).

Baronets are not formally deemed to be noble, although they are widely regarded as being members of the aristocracy. In Europe their social rank is roughly equivalent to petite noblesse.

Bart the Bear

Bart the Bear (January 19, 1977 - May 10, 2000) was a male Alaskan Kodiak bear actor best known for his numerous appearances in Hollywood films, including The Bear (for which he reportedly received an Oscar nomination),White Fang, Legends of the Fall, and The Edge. He was trained by animal trainers Doug Seus and Lynne Seus of Wasatch Rocky Mountain Wildlife, Inc., in Heber City, Utah.

Early life

Bart was born on January 19, 1977, at the Baltimore Zoo. Bart's mother had previously appeared in films, including Grizzly (1976) and Day of the Animals (1977). When Bart was five weeks old and weighed five pounds, he was adopted by Doug and Lynne Seus, who worked as animal trainers for films. The Seuses trained Bart using a reward and praise system. While still a cub, he appeared in the TV series The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams playing Adams' companion bear, Ben, as a cub.

After reaching adulthood, he subsequently he made his film debut in the film Windwalker (released 1981). He grew to 9' 6" (2.90 m) tall and weighed 1,500 pounds (680 kg) throughout his life as an adult.

Bay Area Rapid Transit

Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) is a rapid transit system serving the San Francisco Bay Area. The heavy-rail public transit and subway system connects San Francisco with cities in the East Bay and suburbs in northern San Mateo County. BART's rapid transit system operates five routes on 104 miles (167 km) of line, with 44 stations in four counties. With an average of 422,490 weekday passengers, 211,288 Saturday passengers, and 158,855 Sunday passengers in September 2014, BART is the fifth-busiest heavy rail rapid transit system in the United States.

BART is operated by the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District, a special-purpose transit district that was formed in 1957 to cover San Francisco, Alameda County, and Contra Costa County. The acronym is almost universally pronounced like the name "Bart" rather than spelled out.

BART combines the aesthetics and carrying capacity of a metro system with the logistics and pricing model of commuter rail. It is an alternative to highway transportation, especially to avoid congestion on the San Francisco Bay Bridge, which connects San Francisco to the East Bay suburbs and the city of Oakland. As of 2015, the BART system is being expanded to San Jose with the consecutive Warm Springs and Silicon Valley BART extensions.

The Alarm (newspaper)

The Alarm was an anarchist newspaper published in the American city of Chicago during the 1880s. The weekly was the most prominent English-language anarchist periodical of its day. The paper was famously edited by Albert Parsons, who was executed in response to the Haymarket affair of 1886.

Publication history

Establishment

The first issue of The Alarm appeared on October 4, 1884 in Chicago, Illinois as the weekly voice of the International Working People's Association (IWPA). At the time of its launch The Alarm was one of eight newspapers in the United States to declare their allegiance to the anarchist IWPA — and the only paper published in English.

Editor of the paper was the Southern-born Albert R. Parsons, formerly the assistant editor of the English-language weekly of the Socialist Labor Party of America, The Socialist. Parsons had first come north from Texas in 1873 to take a job as a printer for the Chicago Inter-Ocean before moving to a more steady job in a similar capacity working for the Chicago Times.
