Intro
Hi guys it’s Ken from 4WheelOnline with this week’s
News Refresh. This week, we’ve got teasers from 3 car makers on big reveals that they’re planning.
The first of which is Jeep, who is getting ready for their 50th annual
Easter Jeep
Safari later this month. Jeep will be revealing seven crazy Jeep concepts in Moab, Utah from March 19 to 27.
To help get our saliva glands working they’ve released 2 teasers of Jeeps that we can expect to see at the big event.
The first of which is the
Jeep Wrangler Trailcat. That’s right! Trailcat.
Does this mean Jeep is making a
Hellcat version of the
Wrangler? We hope so. I know I want to take
707 horsepower off road.
Their second teaser, was one for the retro fans. Their teaser image of the Jeep
Crew Chief concept shows off rugged and retro good looks.
We can’t wait to see what else Jeep has in store for us on
March 19th, but Jeep isn’t the only one gearing up for a big unveil.
Tesla Motors is getting ready to reveal their long-awaited
Model 3 on
March 31st. That’s their
200+ mile driving range EV that they say will be available for around $35 grand before taxes and EV incentives.
Except, a hacker claims to have found something else Tesla might be revealing. He posted a decrypted code on twitter which forum members revealed to be a P100D badge.
If you don’t follow Tesla’s nomenclature that means a 100 kilowatt hour battery pack that will no doubt further bolster the
Model S’ already insane performance specs!
Elon Musk seemed to even confirm the leak by tweeting back at the hacker “
Good hacking is a gift.” So, I guess
Elon’s cool with that hacker leaking a corporate secret.
Not to be constrained to a single month is BMW who is taking the whole year to celebrate their
100th Anniversary as an automaker. They’ll be unveiling 4 concept cars over the year for each of their distinctive brands. That’s BMW,
Rolls Royce,
Mini and their motorcycle division.
The first to be unveiled is the
Vision Next 100. As its name suggests it's a glimpse at BMWs wild vision of their next 100 years. It showcases a marriage of autonomous and human controlled driving that BMW calls Ease and
Boost mode respectively. In Boost mode the car augments reality to help the driver see hidden obstacles, optimal racing lines, steering points and speeds. In Ease mode the car completely drives itself.
If that isn’t weird enough for you the body of the car stretches and contorts as the wheels turns and the scales glow red to warn the driver of upcoming hazards.
We can’t wait to see what BMW does for their next 3 concepts.
So, which one of these upcoming reveals are you the most interested in hearing about?
