Carrington, Adams on track with their Olympic clock

Edit Otago Daily Times 25 May 2016
During a visit to the New Zealand Rugby offices in Auckland I noticed a digital clock counting down the days to the Olympics. Every aspiring athlete should have one of these in their bedroom ... At least that is what we saw ... I can't wait ... Unlike the digital clock counting down the seconds and days, time seems to stand still for these athletes as they will every atom of their body, and every synapsis in their brain to give 100% ... ....

Bracket creep, or fiscal drag, brings on tax cuts

Edit Otago Daily Times 23 May 2016

Those people pay a higher proportion of their income in tax. It's called bracket creep or fiscal drag. If their wage rises have outstripped the price rises of the things they buy, they might still feel better off ... He mused on $3 billion ... ColinJames@synapsis.co.nz. ....

How meaningful is the Anzac bond?

Jihadis shout ‘‘Allah Akbar'' (God is Great) when killing. ‘‘To the glory of God'' are the first words on the 1964 dedication plaque on the National War Memorial in Wellington.
