The sixteenth series of Comedy Playhouse, the long-running BBC series, aired during 2014, with only three episodes.

Background

The sixteenth series, consisted of three episodes, each of which had a different cast and storyline. It was announced that Miller's Mountain was going to be made into a series, whereas Monks was not. No decision was announced regarding Over to Bill.

Miller's Mountain was renamed Mountain Goats and a six-part series aired on BBC One from 14 August 2015.

The second series of Comedy Playhouse, the long-running BBC series, aired from 1 March 1963 to 12 April 1963. All the episodes were written by Ray Galton and Alan Simpson.

Background

The second series, which was in black-and-white, consisted of six episodes, each of which had a different cast and storyline. None of the episodes made it to its own series. All episodes were aired on Friday; Our Man in Moscow at 8.45pm, And Here, All The Way From... and A Clerical Error at 8.50pm, Impasse at 8pm, Have You Read This Notice at 8.20pm and The Handyman at 7.50pm.

Joe the Plumber

Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher (/ˈwɜːrzəlbɑːkər/; born December 3, 1973), known as Joe the Plumber, is an American conservative activist and commentator. He gained national attention during the 2008 U.S. presidential election when, during a videotaped campaign stop in Ohio by then Democratic nominee, Senator Barack Obama, Wurzelbacher asked Obama about his small business tax policy. Obama's response included the statement, "when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody." Obama's response was seized upon by conservative media, and by Obama's rival, Republican nominee Senator John McCain, as an indication that Obama was interested in the redistribution of wealth and had a socialist view of the economy. Wurzelbacher is a member of the Republican Party.

Since he expressed to then-Senator Obama that he was interested in purchasing a small plumbing business, Wurzelbacher was given the moniker "Joe the Plumber" by the McCain–Palin campaign. The campaign took him to make several appearances in campaign events in Ohio and McCain often referenced "Joe the Plumber" in campaign speeches and in the final presidential debate, as a metaphor for middle-class Americans.

Street Fighter (video game)

Street Fighter (ストリートファイター, Sutorīto Faitā) is a 1987 arcade game developed by Capcom. It is the first competitive fighting game produced by the company and the inaugural game in the Street Fighter series. While it did not achieve the same worldwide popularity as its sequel Street Fighter II when it was first released, the original Street Fighter introduced some of the conventions made standard in later games, such as the six button controls and the use of command based special techniques.

A port for the PC Engine/TurboGrafx CD console was released under the title Fighting Street (ファイティング・ストリート, Faitingu Sutorīto) in 1988. This same version was later re-released for the Wii's Virtual Console in North America on November 2, 2009, and in the PAL region on November 5, 2009.

Gameplay

The player competes in a series of one-on-one matches against a series of computer-controlled opponents or in a single match against another player. Each match consists of three rounds in which the player must defeat an opponent in less than 30 seconds. If a match ends before a fighter is knocked out, then the fighter with the greater amount of energy left will be declared the round's winner. The player must win two rounds in order to defeat the opponent and proceed to the next battle. If the third round ends in a tie, then the computer-controlled opponent will win by default or both players will lose. During the single-player mode, the player can continue after losing and fight against the opponent they lost the match to. Likewise, a second player can interrupt a single-player match and challenge the first player to a new match.

Signature (Joe album)

Signature is the second independent and eighth studio album by R&B singer Joe which was released on July 14, 2009. His previous album Joe Thomas, New Man features cuts from this album. The album features ballads written, produced, and arranged by Joe. The lead single is "Majic", which has peaked at #57 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The album debuted #7 on the Billboard 200, #2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and #1 on the Independent Albums chart. The deluxe edition of the album includes remixes to "We Need to Roll" and "Man in Your Life", the former featuring Mario & Trey Songz and the latter featuring The Game.

Reception

Allmusic's Stephen Thomas Erlewine gave the album four and a half out of five stars and praised the set's artwork, but called it, "nice, but it's something that only hardcore fans will truly find a bargain at a list price of $129.98."
