In a dramatic shift that signals an eventual end to the practice of keeping captive orcas for public exhibition, SeaWorld announced it would cease all of its orca breeding programs for the company’s nearly 30 whales. This action will make the current group the last generation of SeaWorld’s orcas. The Humane Society of the United States, which worked with SeaWorld on these new policies, praised its reforms as a major step forward toward a humane economy in which corporations respond and adapt to public concerns over animal welfare.

This video is dedicated to Dawn Brancheau an experienced female trainer who, on February 24, 2010, drowned at SeaWorld Orlando by the orca "Tilikum". Following this event, trainers no longer go into the water with the orcas at SeaWorld parks shows. Tilikum was the subject of the controversial film Blackfish. #Blackfish.

Sea World is a marine mammal park, oceanarium, and theme park located on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It includes rides, animal exhibits and other attractions, and promotes conservation through education and through the rescue and rehabilitation of sick, injured or orphaned wildlife. The park is commercially linked to Warner Bros. Movie World and Wet'n'Wild Water World as part of the Warner Village Theme Parks division of Village Roadshow.
Sea World was founded by Keith Williams in 1958. It was originally known as the Surfers Paradise Ski Gardens, which presented “water ski shows that combined comedy, aqua ballet and action”. In 1971, the Surfers Paradise Ski Gardens moved to land on the Spit. Major dredging works were required to build the new ski lake. A year later, the Surfers Paradise Ski Gardens became known as Sea World with the introduction of dolphins, marine displays, a replica of the Endeavour, a swimming pool, licensed restaurant and gift shop. Extra additions over the next decade included the purchasing of competitor marine park, Marineland, and the transfer of animals and exhibits to Sea World as well as the addition of more shops and food outlets.

Breaking: SeaWorld to End Breeding of Orcas
In a dramatic shift that signals an eventual end to the practice of keeping captive orcas for public exhibition, SeaWorld announced it would cease all of its orca breeding programs for the company’s nearly 30 whales. This action will make the current group the last generation of SeaWorld’s orcas. The Humane Society of the United States, which worked with SeaWorld on these new policies, praised its reforms as a major step forward toward a humane economy in which corporations respond and adapt to public concerns over animal welfare. -

The Humane Society of the United States, which worked with SeaWorld on these new policies, praised its reforms as a major step forward toward a humane economy in which corporations respond and adapt to public concerns over animal welfare.

John Hargrove and Dr. Ingrid Visser know killer whales better than anyone --- they've both been swimming with them for decades. They're also both outspoken advocates for orca welfare and conservation. We went to SeaWorld with them, saw some harrowing things, and caused a bit of a scene.
This video is part of an ongoing documentary project called SUPERPOD. It's about an endangered wild population of salmon-eating killer whales, and how their decline is a warning that the Pacific Northwest ecosystem is on the brink of collapse.

Orlando is a breakthrough theatrical spectacular that showcases graceful dolphins and false killer whales, a rainbow of exotic birds and an entire cast of world-class divers and aerialists draped in elaborate costumes. The vivid imagination of a young girl sets the stage for an emotional adventure to experience the power of the sea and the elegance of flight.
I recorded this family video on November 4, 2010 at the Orlando, Florida SeaWorld with a Canon HV30. Tilikum is the subject of the documentary film Blackfish. SeaWorld in San Diego is fighting AB 2140, the "California Captive Orca Welfare and Safety Act," would end performance-based entertainment for all 10 orcas in the state.

It was his favorite show there because the Shamu splash water on you and we ended up get soaking wet! His favorite play area was the Water Works Sesame Street Bay of Play (Kid's Water Play Area). Ryan also loves the gift shop because there was so many toys for kids! We saw wooden trains and Rescue Tanker. We ended up buying a SeaWorld Rescue Off-Roader with Sound that we will unbox review play in future video! This water Park is a great place for kids to visit! There were also so many Shamu stuff animals that we just had to take a picture!
Sea World was a family fun trip for sure!

But Orkid's story isn't unique. SeaWorld enslaves many animals in small tanks at marine parks around the country, where they're forced to perform tricks for food. It's a business built on the suffering of intelligent, social animals who are denied everything that is natural and important to them. As a result, animals imprisoned by SeaWorld often die prematurely from captivity-related causes, including ones related to stress.
In the wild, orcas are intelligent predators who work cooperatively in search of food. They share intricate relationships in a matrilineal society. In some populations, orcas rarely leave their mother's pod, but at SeaWorld, they are often separated. Free orcas are among the fastest animals in the sea, and they swim as far as 100 miles every day. But at SeaWorld, orcas swim in endless circles or float listlessly in small, barren concrete tanks.

Riders drop from about 17 storeys up, and after plunging almost 90 degrees down a slope, they are then propelled up a five storey camelback hill using Schlitterbahn's Master Blaster system before racing down the other side and hitting a straight before eventually cruising to a halt.
