Amy Lau is an Interior Designer and co-founder of the Design Miami fair. Lau is a featured designer on Luxe Magazine,New York Spaces,Open House,& HGTV.
Following her degree in Art History, she received a master’s degree in Fine and Decorative Arts from the prestigious Sotheby’s graduate program in New York. Studying with curators, art historians, and industry professionals, she honed her curatorial eye and developed a deep passion for design. Both were put to use at Aero Ltd., where she served as director under founder Thomas O’Brien. She was subsequently appointed design director of New York City’s Lin-Weinberg Gallery, which specializes in international mid-century modernism.
In 2005, she co-founded the prestigious Design Miami fair, which assembles galleries specializing in design from the post-war period to the present. Established to run in conjunction with Art Basel Miami Beach, the Design Miami fair has expanded to become a vital forum for exhibiting, discussing, creating, and collecting design.
Amy Lau’s experiences makes her a requested speaker and panelist for events organized by the likes of Sotheby’s Institute of Art, the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, Metropolitan Home magazine, Dwell magazine, and Bklyn Designs. During SCAD style week, she has appeared on the Savannah and Atlanta campuses of Savannah College of Art and Design. She also serves as co-director of the Design Council for the Museum of Arts and Design.
The Amy Lau Studio product line includes colorful limited-edition Four Seasons enameled home furnishings and lighting, a rug design for Doris Leslie Blau, a limited-edition line for Showtime inspired by the networks television show Dexter, and hexagonal-mosaic tiles produced by Heath Ceramics which are on display in an Amy Lau Design bathroom vignette at the Kohler Design Center, in Wisconsin. The firm’s current initiatives include a collection of contemporary curtains and upholstery textiles to be manufactured by S. Harris – Fabricut, and a wallpaper collection for Maya Romanoff’s 40th Anniversary.
The firm recently expanded to include retail design with an Elie Tahari fashion boutique that was published in Interior Design magazine. Amy Lau and her residential interiors have also been featured in such publications as Elle Decor, the New York Times, New York Spaces, Gotham, and House & Garden.

Design Miami/ is the global forum that brings together the most influential dealers, collectors, designers, curators and critics from around the world in celebration of design culture and commerce. Inspired by the galvanizing effect of Art Basel Miami Beach, the founders of Design Miami/ set out to create a design fair unlike any other that came before. They envisioned a new commercial and cultural forum that would capture the thriving general interest in design and elevate appreciation for limited-edition, experimental and historically significant design work, presented within an energetic, visually striking environment. No other design fair had ever attempted such a feat. Inspired by archival photograph of octagonal Heath tiles, examples of poured glazes and Amy's photograpghs of the Greek Islands. 12 glazes were developed in the spirit of the Mediterranean which captures the tranquility of Oia.
