Famous Bengali,Pakistani Actress Shabnam on Monday has arrived Pakistan from Bangladesh on the invitation of Pakistan Television Network (PTV).
Talking to media at Karachi Airport Shabnam said she was very happy on her visit to Pakistan and she was here on the invitation of PTV.
The legend actress was accompanied by her husband Robin Gosh.
Shabnam was active in the Pakistani film industry, Lollywood in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, and in the Bangladeshi film industry in the 1990s. Born in Dhaka formerly a part of Pakistan called East Pakistan, she was considered a versatile, romantic and most popular actress in both West Pakistan and East Pakistan in her time.

Shabnam (Urdu/Persian: شبنم) from the word meaning dew drops on the flowers) (real name: Jharna Basak) is a Pakistani stage and film actress. Shabnam was active in the Pakistani film industry, Lollywood in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, and in the Bangladeshi film industry in the 1990s. Born in Dhaka, formerly a part of Pakistan called East Pakistan, she was considered a versatile, romantic and most popular actress in both West Pakistan and East Pakistan in her time.
Shabnam is actually her film-name. Her real name is Jharna Basak (Bengali: ঝর্ণা বসাক) born August 17, in the 1944s. Her father is Nani Basak, the well known Scout master and football referee from Dhaka. Shabnam is married to Robin Ghosh, a well known music composer.
She shot to fame with the hit Bengali film "Harano Din" 1961 and attained all Pakistan stardom with the box office Urdu hit "Chanda" 1962. Both the films were produced from Dhaka, East Pakistan.
"Talaash" was an even bigger than all Pakistan hit that followed next year. By mid sixties she became one of the most popular actresses of Pakistan. Professional commitments eventually took her to Karachi, Pakistan where she settled down in 1968. By early 1970s Shabnam established her position in Lollywood (Lahore) to ultimately become the most popular heroine in the history of Pakistan films. She reigned supreme as an actress in Pakistan until the lull in the Pakistan film industry in the late 1980s. She is probably the only film actress in the world to have continuously and successfully played the romantic lead in films for almost three decades, from the early 1960s to the late 1980s.

Plot: After the brutal deaths of Kanta Mirchandani and Sabrina, Bombay's Police Commissioner concludes it to be the work of a serial killer and assigns this case to Inspector Ashok, who lives with his widowed mother, Radha, and is in love with Nisha, a Journalist, and the sister of Advocate Munish. Evidence leads Ashok to suspect that Munish is the killer, and he is all set to arrest him. Then Shabnam, a Courtesan, comes forward and claims that she was attacked by a maniac, but managed to escape and assists the police to prepare a hand-drawn sketch. Hoping to have her positively identify Munish as the killer, Ashok finds the tables turned against him when Shabnam identifies him, not Munish, as her assailant.

Plot: Leading lawyer and public prosecutor, Raghunath Tyagi, lives an upper middle- class life in India with his only son, Akash Manmohan. Raghunath would like his son to take an interest in law or a business, but all Akash is interested in is poems. One day Akash overhears one of his poems being sung by a woman. He is attracted to this woman, whose name is Shabnam, and would like to marry her. The only problem is his dad, who is strongly opposed to his son marrying a woman of questionable character and means - a prostitute. But Akash is adamant, leaves his dad's house and continues his affair with Shabnam. Shabnam wants to break free from the brothel madame, Aminabai, and does so, only to find that Aminabai has sold her to a man named Nawab for Rs.20,000/-. Angered at Aminabai, Shabnam goes to confront her, and as a result Amina is killed, and Shabnam is arrested and charged with first degree murder - the punishment for which, under Section 302 of the Indian Pencal Code is Life Imprisonment or Death. And it is the death sentence that the Public Prosecutor Tyagi would like to see carried out on Shabnam, who he considers a problem for himself and his son.

Plot: Vijay and Rajni have been childhood sweethearts in a small town called Rajgarh. They did separate for a few years when Rajni and her maternal grandma, Leela, went to live in Calcutta. Kundan's mom creates all kinds of misunderstandings between Vijay and Rajni, and Vijay's conduct, especially gambling, lying, and telling tall stories, does not help. Then Vijay is arrested by the police and held in jail. When he is discharged, he swears to turn his life around and be worthy of Rajni, leaves Rajgarh, finds employment in Durgapur as a truck driver. When he returns home he finds that Rajni and Leela have re-located to Calcutta where Rajni is to be married to a man named Ravi Shankar. A heartbroken Vijay goes to Calcutta to locate Rajni, but is unable to locate her. He falls into bad company, takes to alcohol, and then one day one of his new-found friends' abducts a woman - who turns out to be Rajni. When Vijay and Rajni come face to face there is nothing but hatred between them. Rajni walks out of Vijay's life. When they meet again in Dhanbad, Rajni is married to Ravi Shankar, who lives there with his sister, Manju. Watch what happens when Vijay re-enters Rajni's life and the reaction it has on Ravi and Manju.

Shubi is displeased when she finally gets to meet her future husband, Khan Mustafa, as he is a cowardly buffoon. When Zaber finds out that he cannot control the Maharaja and the Wazir, he has the former imprisoned and the latter killed. When he is unable to influence Shubi, he has her kidnapped, and has Shabnam brought to the palace forcibly where he hopes to lure her to become the Shehzadi and marry him.
