Just due east of
Rancho Santa Fe you'll find the beautiful new neighborhood of Del Sur. This community has rapidly grown since it's groundbreaking in
2013, they're literally selling houses faster than they can build, similar to what you'll find in
Chula Vista currently. I discovered this area not too long ago when I was working on a project in a nearby community. To my surprise the area was full of new
Republic carts. Signifying that this area had to be relatively new since otto edges weren't introduced to
San Diego until mid 2014. However this area was also a bit confusing.
The community is in the
City of San Diego's domain meaning that technically it isn't a unincorporated community like the neighboring community of 4S ranch (owned by the
Ralph's family) and that residents are zoned to have the government's environmental services program do their form of waste disposal. However, by my own personal observations and with the help of the driver I came to discover that yes, this area is an
ESD area. However the residents have an option for ESD or Republic to do their waste hauling services.
What's the different you may ask? ESD is a government agency, which the residents of San Diego don't pay a physical waste disposal fee for.
Instead that fee pops up as a tax in their property taxes. Whereas Republic is a private corporation that instead of billing being in the form of taxes, there is actually a physical invoice that is billed to the resident every other month. So, when the resident switches over to Republic, that means that their fee for ESD disappears. This would be a great example of why you would see ESD carts and Republic carts intermingled with each other on one street. How one person may have ESD but their neighbor has Republic as their trash hauler.
Pretty interesting
IMO. Also there's restrictions and
HOA rules that give Republic the right to be the secondary provider of this area.
What I loved about this area was that when I was filming, I would come up on a streets that was still in the phase of being built and some houses that were still getting furnishes and final touches added to them. Many of the single-family houses were being listed at a million or above. One house I came upon was approx. 4,000sq.ft. and was listed for 1.5M. Which seems a bit overpriced but like they say in real estate
.... location... location... location.... (future
Real Estate Major here)
As for the truck, I was a little bit disappointing in what I found, only because this truck is so infamous that just seeing it gives me absolutely no excitement, but it's what was running that day. It seriously needs a paint job.
It's probably in the same state it was from just a couple years ago, with the paint chipping and pealing away. But that may change soon with Republic of Chula Vista and San Diego FINALLY re branding all their trucks. YAAAY!!!
Special thanks to the driver for letting me film the unit.
More is to come in the future, enjoy the video and make sure you subscribe. More blue is coming back to this channel, because I'm getting sick of green. (WM)
