Taelyn Bryce Brooks (born October 6, 1997) better known by his stage name Tae Brooks, is an American recording artist, singer, songwriter and actor. Named by Billboard Magazine as #19 on the Next Big Sound chart, he is known as the voice of Michael Jackson in the animated TV series Black Dynamite. Brooks was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and now resides in Los Angeles.

Background

Tae Brooks was born into a musical family of producers and songwriters and started singing at the age of 10 as a background vocalist on projects in the family garage studio. At a talent audition in 2010 in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, Brooks was recruited by a Los Angeles talent manager which eventually led to the family's relocation. Tae’s brother, Tadjh Brooks (BeatsByiTALY), stepped into the role of lead producer and engineer, and Tae officially started his music career.

Brooks’ YouTube music channel was launched in March 2011 and by April was awarded #57 most subscribed musician channel. His video content has generated millions of views with a mix of vlogs, web series show, original songs and covers of charting songs.

Tae, also spelled Tai, is a rare Korean family name, a single-syllable masculine Korean given name, and an element used in many two-syllable Korean given names. As a family name, it is written with a hanja meaning "great", while in given names, it may have a variety of meanings depending on the hanja used to write it.

Sattawat Sethakorn (ศตวรรษ เศรษฐกร; rtgs: Sattawat Setthakon; born 26 April 1982), also known by his stage name Tae (Thai: เต๊ะ; rtgs: Te) or his Chinese name Tang Chenyu (Chinese: 唐宸禹; pinyin: Táng Chényǔ), is a Thai television and film actor active in the Chinese-language entertainment industry. He began his career in Thailand, moved to Taiwan in the early 2000s, and has since worked on productions in mainland China as well.

At the age of 19, Sethakorn decided to move to Taiwan to develop his career further. He quickly improved his Chinese language abilities, only occasionally needing translation assistance in the course of his work.

Personal life

Sethakorn was born in Kanchanaburi. His maternal grandfather was of Teochew Chinese descent, while his other grandparents were native Thai people. His parents are schoolteachers. He has one sister, younger than him by three years. He attended high school at the Sethaburbampen School, where he graduated after completing all the required coursework in just two years. He got married in a ceremony held in Japan in June 2013.

Brooks is a surname of Germanic/French origin, that is thought to have been derived from the condition of either residing near a stream (or brook). The 'Brooks' mango (also known as 'Brooks Late') is a late-season commercial mango cultivar that originated in south Florida. It is a parent of several varieties from the state.

History

The original tree reportedly grew from a seed of the 'Sandersha' mango that was planted on the property of a Mr. Brooks in Miami, Florida in 1910. The 'Sandersha' parentage of 'Brooks' was later supported by a 2005 pedigree analysis. The tree first fruited in 1916 and propagation began in 1924. After 'Haden', it was the second Florida cultivar to be named. 'Brooks' went on to gain some commercial acceptance and is still grown on some commercial scale in Florida and in Africa. It was also a parent of several Florida mangoes, including 'Kent', 'Sensation', 'Hatcher' and probably 'Keitt'.
