Francis Albert "Frank" Sinatra (/sᵻˈnɑːtrə/; December 12, 1915 – May 14, 1998) was an American singer, actor, producer, and director, who was one of the most popular and influential musical artists of the 20th century. Sinatra's music has been considered timeless by many. He is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 150 million records worldwide. Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, to Italian immigrants, he began his musical career in the swing era with Harry James and Tommy Dorsey. He found success as a solo artist after being signed by Columbia Records in 1943, becoming the idol of the "bobby soxers". He released his first album, The Voice of Frank Sinatra, in 1946. Sinatra's professional career had stalled by the early 1950s, and he turned to Las Vegas, where he became one of its best known performers as part of the Rat Pack. His career was reborn in 1953 with the success of From Here to Eternity and his subsequent Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He signed with Capitol Records and released several critically lauded albums, including In the Wee Small Hours (1955), Songs for Swingin' Lovers! (1956), Come Fly with Me (1958), Only the Lonely (1958) and Nice 'n' Easy (1960).

Nathaniel Adams Coles (March 17, 1919 – February 15, 1965), known professionally as Nat King Cole, was an American singer who first came to prominence as a leading jazz pianist. He was widely noted for his soft, baritone voice, which he used to perform in big band and jazz genres, becoming a major force in popular music for three decades. Cole was one of the first African Americans to host a national television variety show, The Nat King Cole Show, and has maintained worldwide popularity since his death from lung cancer in February 1965.
Nathaniel Adams Coles was born in Montgomery, Alabama, on March 17, 1919. Cole had three brothers: Eddie (1910–1970), Ike (1927–2001), and Freddy (born 1931), and a half-sister, Joyce Coles. Each of Cole's brothers would later pursue careers in music as well. When Cole was four years old, he and his family moved to Chicago, Illinois, where his father, Edward Coles, became a Baptist minister. Cole learned to play the organ from his mother, Perlina Coles, the church organist. His first performance was of "Yes! We Have No Bananas" at age four. He began formal lessons at 12, eventually learning not only jazz and gospel music, but also Western classical music, performing, as he said, "from Johann Sebastian Bach to Sergei Rachmaninoff".
Coel (Old Welsh: Coil) or Coel Hen ("Coel the Old") is a figure prominent in Welsh literature and legend since the Middle Ages. Early Welsh tradition knew of a Coel Hen (Coel the Old), a leader in Roman or Sub-Roman Britain and the progenitor of several kingly lines in the Hen Ogledd ("the Old North"), the Brittonic-speaking part of northern England and southern Scotland. Later medieval legend told of a Coel, apparently derived from Coel Hen, who was the father of Saint Helena and the grandfather of Roman Emperor Constantine the Great. Other similarly named characters may be confused or conflated with the Welsh Coel. The legendary "King Coel" is sometimes supposed to be the historical basis for the popular nursery rhyme "Old King Cole", but this is unlikely.
Coel's name was rendered "Coil" in Old Welsh. It may be related to the common noun coel, meaning "belief or omen". Coel is often named as "Coel Hen", Hen being an epithet Hen meaning "old" (i.e., "Coel the Old"). The genealogies give him an additional epithet, Godebog (Old Welsh: Guotepauc), meaning "Protector" or "Shelterer". His name is thus sometimes given as "Coel Godebog" or "Coel Hen Godebog". However, some of the Harleian genealogies list Godebog as Coel's father's name.Geoffrey of Monmouth Latinized the name to Coelus. Some modern authors modernize it to "Cole".

Louis Armstrong (August 4, 1901 – July 6, 1971), nicknamed Satchmo or Pops, was an American jazz trumpeter, composer and singer who became one of the pivotal and most influential figures in jazz music. His career spanned from the 1920s to the 1960s, covering many different eras of jazz.
Coming to prominence in the 1920s as an "inventive" trumpet and cornet player, Armstrong was a foundational influence in jazz, shifting the focus of the music from collective improvisation to solo performance. With his instantly recognizable gravelly voice, Armstrong was also an influential singer, demonstrating great dexterity as an improviser, bending the lyrics and melody of a song for expressive purposes. He was also skilled at scat singing.
Renowned for his charismatic stage presence and voice almost as much as for his trumpet-playing, Armstrong's influence extends well beyond jazz music, and by the end of his career in the 1960s, he was widely regarded as a profound influence on popular music in general. Armstrong was one of the first truly popular African-American entertainers to "cross over", whose skin color was secondary to his music in an America that was extremely racially divided. He rarely publicly politicized his race, often to the dismay of fellow African-Americans, but took a well-publicized stand for desegregation during the Little Rock Crisis. His artistry and personality allowed him socially acceptable access to the upper echelons of American society which were highly restricted for black men of his era.
Crooner is an American epithet given to male singers of jazz standards, mostly from the Great American Songbook, either backed by a full orchestra, a big band or by a piano. Originally it was an ironic term denoting an emphatically sentimental, often emotional singing style made possible by the use of microphones. Some performers, such as Russ Columbo, did not accept the term: in an interview Frank Sinatra said that he did not consider himself or Bing Crosby "crooners".
This dominant popular vocal style coincided with the advent of radio broadcasting and electrical recording. Before the advent of the microphone, popular singers like Al Jolson had to project to the rear seats of a theater, as did opera singers, which made for a very loud vocal style. The microphone made possible the more personal style.Al Bowlly, Gene Austin and Art Gillham are often credited as inventors of the crooning style but Rudy Vallée became far more popular, beginning from 1928. He could be heard by anyone with a phonograph or a radio.

What he wants now is to return the pendant but a rival gang interfere and force him to take part in a big-time caper. Bad for them, Michael exposes them and hands them over to justice. Michael and Marcia will live happily ever after. Well, all things considered, once a thief...not always a thief!

Beginning his musical career in the swing era as a boy singer with Harry James and Tommy Dorsey, Sinatra found success as a solo artist from the early to mid-1940s after being signed by Columbia Records in 1943. The idol of the "bobby soxers", he released his first album, The Voice of Frank Sinatra, in 1946. His professional career had stalled by the early 1950s, but it was reborn in 1953 after he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in From Here to Eternity. He signed with Capitol Records in 1953 and released several critically lauded albums (such as In the Wee Small Hour...

Mary Hart (Entertainment Tonight) catches Frank Sr. & Frank Jr. for an interview after a concert in which Frank is singing and Frank Jr. is conducting for his dad. It is amazing how much they sound alike. Frank Jr. tried for a singing career but his voice and style were so much like his dad's that I think it was impossible for him to succeed with the same voice and style (it had already been done)! Previous Comments: Shayne Trimm A savage what!? You can't just cut it off right there! My reply: +Shayne Trimm / Well, actually she had finished the Sinatras' interview and was now announcing what they would be featuring the next day - "You won't want to miss tomorrow's Insider Report which shows exclusive footage of a savage...." - (probably some animal or murderer?) I'm not sure if you'r...
Larry talked with the legendary Frank Sinatra in May, 1988 about what it was like to walk out on stage before a performance.
Here, from my collection of personally recorded videos, is the full March 13, 1988 version of Larry King's interview with Ol' Blue Eyes himself, the one and only Frank Sinatra as repeated on December 26, 1997 in honor of Frank's recent 82nd birthday. As Sinatra rarely gave interviews, this one turned out to be his final major one. Enjoy! This Saturday, Dec. 12 marks what would have been the 100th birthday of legendary performer Frank Sinatra. While it has been several decades since the man with the unmistakable blue eyes commanded the stage at iconic venues up and down the Las Vegas Strip, it is undeniable that his presence and impact are still felt. The momentous centennial celebration brought many of those who knew Sinatra best back to Las Vegas, his home away from home, including his youngest daughter, Tina Sinatra, and granddaughter, Amanda Erlinger. The pair spoke on a variety of Sinatra’s brightest Las Vegas performances, his favorite Las Vegas hot spots and how Sinatra would perceive the transformation of the glittering Strip into the Las Vegas of today. “Any trip to Las Vegas with my dad was always great, always ev...
Reed Stark's first solo edit for Sun Ringle displays some serious rim abuse around the streets in Reed's hometowns of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. It can be difficult to convince Reed to ride his bike when he's busy on campus, but when he does the clips are plentiful. This edit has been a long time coming and we hope you enjoy it, and while you're at it check out a recent interview of Reed over on BMX Union here: http://www.bmxunion.com/blog/interview/reed-stark-interview-2/ Credits: Filming/Editing: Kyle Stark Thumbnail photo: Cody York Music: "That's Life" by Frank Sinatra

My tribute to my favourite flying scenes in cinema (85 FILMS). No traditional ways of flying, such as planes, hot air balloons, hang gliders, zeppelins, rockets, blimps, space shuttles and other aircrafts used in real life. I also discarded zero gravity and floating in space. Producer, composer, writer, and media impresario Quincy Jones is an icon to many music fans all over the world. The Chicago, Illinois native has been a trendsetter and innovator of many genres of music for well over six decades. At 86, this year marks another feat in Quincy’s career. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the movie “The Color Purple” which he produced with the legendary Stephen Spielberg as well as scored the music. Alto saxophonist, composer, and educator Jim Snidero's latest Savant Records release 'Interface' further showcases his expansion as a writer as well as soloist. The disc features his quartet that consists of: Paul Bollenback, guitar; McClenty Hunter, drums; and Paul Gill, Bass. Jim's playing style is remincient of sax legends Phil Woods and Lee Konitz. Yet, he stands out mainly for his fresh and fiery compositions. The Washington, DC native was in love with jazz when he entered high school and took it seriously when he attended the University of North Texas. Upon graduation he moved to New York City where he became both a well-accomplished session musician, but also a critically-acclaimed educator. Jim as a musician has been a long and fruitful journey playing and backing with the likes ...

Shining metal
Arc of light
Red eyes
Smell of fear
Deep cut
Red stream
On white skin
In slowmotion
Stop time
Close your lips
Keep the word
Lay down and sleep
With bleeding heart
I'll take you away
Save you from
The claws of time
Die by my hand, die by my hand
Now you are
A crystal rose
Frozen for
Eternity
Down on my knees
Caress your body
Inside my head
In slowmotion
Stop time
Close your lips
Keep the word
Lay down and sleep
With bleeding heart
I'll take you away
Save you from
The claws of time
Die by my hand, die by my hand
