Before we begin, I would like to thank the
Lord Jesus Christ for my life, and all the gifts which
I've been given in it, including the ability to make this extension. Your name be glorified, my
Savior, even in something as small as this.
Amen.

"And who knows: starting a new journey may not be so hard, or maybe it has already begun. There are many worlds, and they share the same sky - one sky, one destiny."
Dearly beloved, we are gathered this day to witness the second installment of
Amateur Extension Theater 2000's special compilation series, "
Kingdom Hearts: Dearly Compendium". I'm your surprisingly reprising host, Alkahest.
Ah, Kingdom Hearts. A curious yet wonderful blending of characters from Square-Enix RPGs and
Walt Disney, there was every reason to believe it would utterly and completely reek.
Instead, it turned out to be the key that a door to wonderous adventure, fantasy and delight for many fans, myself included. But did it all actually begin with birth by sleep? Hardly.
Rather...
It began with a letter, penned by the noble liege of
Disney Castle,
Mickey Mouse.
Having observed the darkening night sky and recognizing the significance of stars -- each representative of different worlds -- winking out of existence, one by one, he set forth on a journey to seek their salvation. At the same time, childhood friends
Sora, Riku and
Kairi were planning an expedition of their own on
Destiny Islands. But dark forces were on the move as well, seeking those whom they could turn, or completely devour. Now it is that the Keyblade's
Chosen steps forth to realize a wish to banish the darkness, and open the door...
Composed by
Yoko Shimomura, '
Dearly Beloved -Reprise-' can be heard at the end of Kingdom Hearts. As the title suggests, 'tis a reworked variation on the original Dearly Beloved theme; it has a sort of dream-like, music box quality to it, and a few notes even remind me oddly of
Yoko's other musical masterpiece,
Super Mario RPG:
Legend of the Seven Stars. Specifically, a refrain from '
Geno Awakens' and '
Goodbye Geno --
Seeing Dreams Through
The Window Of
The Stars'... wish I could explain it more fully.
It's a lovely reprise either way, though, and in the end, isn't that what matters most?
Ahead lies the final installment of AET2k, viewer! And you don't even have to lose something dear in order to enjoy it.
Cool, right? Just be careful not to get caught up in the chains of memory; they can swiftly bind one's heart quite unexpectedly.
Tomorrow, it's another set of three Dearly Beloved variations from
Kingdom Hearts II and 358/2
Days, with three more from Coded,
Birth By
Sleep, and even
Dream Drop Distance to follow the day after. I hope you'll enjoy this little compilation of mine; do take care, and may
God bless.

At the risk of repeating myself: seriously, what was up with that half-eaten raw fish in Sora's mouth? Poor lil' fishy.
