Some of the high voltage cables supplying Sydney's south are more than 40 years old. We're replacing them with 132,000 Volt cables along a 22km cable route. It will connect subtransmission substations at Beaconsfield and Canterbury with the Kogarah zone substation.

An arc flash is a rapid release of energy which uses the air as the conductor. To help protect our crews we have changed parts of our workwear. You’ll now see some of our staff wearing arc-rated, flame-retardant protective clothing including high-visibility orange shirts and orange and navy overalls.
