Nick Brandt (born 1966) is an English photographer who photographs exclusively in the African continent, one of his goals being to record a last testament to the wild animals and places there before they are destroyed by the hands of man.
Born in 1964 and raised in London, England, Brandt studied Painting, and then Film at Saint Martin's School of Art.
He moved to the United States in 1992 and directed many award-winning music videos for the likes of Michael Jackson ("Childhood", "Earth Song", "Stranger in Moscow", "Cry", "One More Chance"), Moby, Jewel, XTC, Badly Drawn Boy.
It was while directing "Earth Song", a music video for Jackson in Tanzania, in 1995 that Brandt fell in love with the animals and land of East Africa. Over the next few years, frustrated that he could not capture on film his feelings about and love for animals, he realized there was a way to achieve this through photography, in a way that he felt no-one had really done before.

Nick Brandt : in the eye of the beholder
Nick Brandt’s East African trilogy documented the effects of climate change and ceaseless upheaval on a wracked landscape and dwindling wildlife. With Inherit the Dust, his first book since the final volume in the trilogy, he returns to the ravaged landscape and creates panoramic vistas in which life size panels of his animal portraits are placed within scenes of environmental devastation. Reviving the images of long-dead elephants, zebras, and giraffes within the fraught context of ongoing life, Brandt investigates the irrecoverable memories that haunt the plains. Nick is joined in conversation by The New York Times' Andrew Revkin. Nick Brandt is one of the more important photographers working in fine art today. His entire cause and mission is wrapped around stopping the rampant poaching problem in East Africa. Nick photographs animals as portraits. He doesn't use telephoto lenses as he prefers to photograph his subjects as one would people. This is a painstaking practice that involves extreme patience and dedication and this shows clearly in the work he produces. Brandt works in a hybrid film and digital process. He photographs using film on a Pentax 67 camera with modified lens (creating a soft focus, tilt-shift effect). The film is scanned and toned in the computer before the works are rendered as digital prints. Nick Brandt: http://www.nickbrandt.com/ Big Life Foundation: https://biglife.org/ On This Earth: h...

V1
Life can be so complicated at times,
It's a wonder how we ever get through,
But I find a peace in the simple things
They seem to help me stay true,
That's why you can find me, down by the waters edge
Filling all my senses, and clearing my head...
Chorus
Watching the sun dance, off the ripples on the sea,
I feel rhythm of the waves, wash the sand beneath my feet
I listen to the wind blow, and let my mind go free
I drift away into a place of calm serenity,
It helps me know who I am..
So every chance I can...I watch the sun dance...
V2
I find a comfort with the sun on my face,
I can feel my heart reflecting it's light,
There's a healing deep inside that takes place
Giving my spirit new life...
When I'm standing on the shore line, Everything is right
I let my troubled thoughts just float away with the tide...
Chorus
Bridge
When I gaze out in the distance, I imagine I can fly
And I glide on the breeze like a seagull....
To where the ocean meets the sky
And then I open up my eyes... and watch the sun dance....
Chorus
