“A Texas high school coach allegedly told black players that he would hang them by their toes from a tree if they didn’t behave, among other racially charged comments revealed in newly released documents.
Todd Campbell, an assistant football coach at Centennial High School in Frisco, resigned in January after approximately 50 parents and other community members met with principal Randy Spain voicing their concerns that Campbell made racist comments to his black and Latino students. Documents obtained by The Dallas Morning News on Tuesday detail the allegations.
“You need to be quiet,” Campbell allegedly told a group of students, according to the documents. “You see that rope over there, you see that tree back there? I’m going to hang you in that tree. I’m going to hang you by your toes.”

Going-to future is a term used to describe an English sentence structure referring to the future, making use of the verb phrase to be going to. The verb "go" can also be used to indicate the future in some other languages.
The going to future originated by the extension of the spatial sense of the verb 'go' to a temporal sense (a common change - the same phenomenon can be seen in the preposition before). The original construction involved physical movement with an intention, such as I am going [outside] to harvest the crop. The location later became unnecessary, and the expression was reinterpreted to represent a near future.
The colloquial form gonna is a relaxed pronunciation of going to. For example, "This is gonna be awesome!". Other variants in different forms of English are gon and a, thus, a phrase like "You're going to like it" could also be said as "You're gonna like it", "You gonna like it", "You 'gon like it" or even "You 'a like it"[citation needed]. This now forms a clear separation of the locative and temporal senses of the expression: while "I am gonna swim" is syntactically similar, a sentence like "I am gonna the beach" is not.

The term black people is used in some socially-based systems of racial classification for humans of a dark-skinned phenotype, relative to other racial groups represented in a particular social context. Growing up in a trailer park in Cincinnati, Ohio, Gary Owen said that his earliest childhood interaction with an African American adult was with a man named Sonny, who drove the local Ice cream truck. “A Texas high school coach allegedly told black players that he would hang them by their toes from a tree if they didn’t behave, among other racially charged comments revealed in newly released documents.
Todd Campbell, an assistant football coach at Centennial High School in Frisco, resigned in January after approximately 50 parents and other community members met with principal Randy Spain voicing their concerns that Campbell made racist comments to his black and Latino students. Documents obtained by The Dallas Morning News on Tuesday detail the allegations.
“You need to be quiet,” Campbell allegedly told a group of students, according to the documents. “You see that rope over there, you see that tree back there? I’m going to hang you in that tree. I’m going to hang you by your toes.”

Growing up in a trailer park in Cincinnati, Ohio, Gary Owen said that his earliest childhood interaction with an African American adult was with a man named Sonny, who drove the local Ice cream truck. Almost excluded from diversity with only a handful of Black friends growing up, he says his African American friends stationed with him in San Diego advised him to go to Black comedy clubs where he started doing "comedy for black people."
Surprisingly, when hearing most celebrity success stories, it usually entails a long process of trials and tribulations, however, Owen said it only took him 6-months to "get on" after a two year hiatus. Not long after appearing—and a successful winning streak—on Comic View, he got a 1-hour comedy special, and was later asked to host the show, in which he received major backlash for.

WFOR-TV reports, relatives of a 17-year-old are angry a teenager was shot and killed by a homeowner who police say was protecting her property. The sister of the teen who died identified him as Trevon Johnson. She said he was a college student. “I don’t care if she have her gun license or any of that. That is way beyond the law - way beyond,” said Johnson’s cousin Nautika Harris to WFOR last week. Relatives said they don’t believe Johnson stole anything from the home but detectives would not confirm that. “You have to look at it from every child’s point of view that was raised in the hood,” said Harris. “You have to understand… how he going to get his money to have clothes to go to school? You have to look at it from his point-of-view.”
“He was not supposed to die like this. He had a future ahead of him. Trevon had goals… he was a funny guy, very big on education, loved learning.” -- “What’s wrong with her,” asked Johnson’s sister Nisha Johnson when discussing the homeowner. “She did not have to shoot him.” -- “It’s no reason she should have waited until I think he walked out the yard to try to shoot him,” said Harris. “If she called the police already why would she shoot him?” Police say Johnson burglarized a home just blocks away from where he lives. A 54-year-old woman told police her surveillance system alerted her to the break-in. She said she rushed home and found the teen climbing out of a window. Miami-Dade police said there was a confrontation and a shot was fired. Johnson was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Officials say the homeowner is cooperating with detectives and was taken to a police station for questioning. The case has been handed over to state attorney’s office so far; no charges have been filed against her.

This is by far the most requested song that I get! The combination of the 2 guitars and mandolin is quite complex and really beautiful, but It makes it hard to play anything that comes close to the recording! It's also really hard to separate the guitar parts and the mandolin in the mix so the song is a real challenge to figure out! I did the demo with 2 guitars and kind of mixed in the guitar parts with some of the mandolin lines here and there. An acoustic guitar lesson on how to play "Going to California" by Led Zeppelin. This is by far the most requested song that I get!
The combination of the 2 guitars and mandolin is quite complex and really beautiful, but It makes it hard to play anything that comes close to the recording! It's also really hard to separate the guitar parts and the mandolin in the mix so the song is a real challenge to figure out!
I did the demo with 2 guitars and kind of mixed in the guitar parts with some of the mandolin lines here and there. I'm not saying that I got every single lick, but I think I got enough so it sounds close. If you learn all the variations in this lesson you can then mix and match them however you want.
This has always been one of my absolute favorite songs and I had a really great time working it out, recording the demo and planning the lesson. I hope you enjoy it, I hope the lesson helps and good luck learning the tune! cheers
The guitar I'm playing here is a Taylor 214ce koa deluxe. I really like this guitar, it intonates amazingly well and it's tone is very balanced. It's also very easy to play.
The strings are Elixir phosphor bronze 12-53 with nanoweb coating. These strings are a little bit more expensive, but for me they easily last 4-5 times longer than non coated strings.
Folks may be surprised at how much time and effort goes into creating these videos. If you're getting something out of the lessons and can afford to contribute to the cause, I've setup a Paypal link. The distinctions between words such as 'infer' and 'imply', and 'uninterested' and 'disinterested' are disappearing. Americanisms such as 'gotten', 'different than' and 'can I get..?' abound. Every office resounds with horrible new jargon such as 'going forward', 'deliverables', 'touch base' and 'heads up'. Infinitives are split, participles dangle. Language is based on established practice and rules. When the rules are continually (and that isn't continuously) broken, the language suffers and those who care suffer too.
That's the line taken by the so-called sticklers in this debate, but they are mistaken according to laissez faire linguists. English wasn't set in stone by 19th-century grammarians -- the kind who decreed it's wrong to split an infinitive in English just because you can't in Latin. Language changes but that doesn't mean it's in decline. Traditionalists may argue that digital technology has a pernicious effect on language, but in fact children who text a lot have higher rates of literacy. And it's hard to deny that Facebook, Twitter and email have enriched the expressiveness of our language: ten years ago who could have written "OMG he's RTd my selfie!!"
