Lester William Polsfuss (June 9, 1915 – August 12, 2009), known as Les Paul, was an American jazz, country, and blues guitarist, songwriter, luthier, and inventor. He was one of the pioneers of the solid-body electric guitar, which made the sound of rock and roll possible. Paul taught himself how to play guitar and while he is mainly known for rock music, he had an early career in country music. He is credited with many recording innovations. Although he was not the first to use the technique, his early experiments with overdubbing (also known as sound on sound),delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects and multitrack recording were among the first to attract widespread attention.
His innovative talents extended into his playing style, including licks, trills, chording sequences, fretting techniques and timing, which set him apart from his contemporaries and inspired many guitarists of the present day. He recorded with his wife Mary Ford in the 1950s, and they sold millions of records.

Hey guys! We decided to go with something different this time. The Fender Bassman and Super Reverb on paper are almost the same amplifiers, but if you put them against each other head to head, they sound quite different, especially when you get them up to higher volumes. I wanted to share this with you guys, because there aren't really that many videos of these two amps on YouTube. We tried to cover some different styles, so the amps could show their full potential. We tried to keep the settings the same on all the songs of course. Guitars used: -Fender Road Worn 60's Stratocaster -Fender White Partsocaster with John Mayer signature "big dippers" pickups -Fender 50's Esquire with Seymour Duncan Antiquity 1955 Telecaster Bridge -Fender American Vintage '65 Jazzmaster -Les Paul Standard...
Original Fender Super Reverb amps can go for up to two grand today - - - what's all the fuss? The sound!!! Take a look at and a listen to my ORIGINAL Fender Super Reverb Amp that I've had ever since the 1960's. No re-issues here! This bad boy weighs somewhere between 60 and 80 pounds, and I hauled it all around New York and New Jersey for years...yet it still sounds awesome. Enjoy!
http://www.nstuffmusic.com/p-9169-fender-65superreverb-65-super-reverb.aspx The Fender '65 Super Reverb Combo Amp is a long overdue addition to Fender's Vintage Reissue series. Here's a faithful re-creation of the legendary and highly collectible Blackface Super Reverb from the 1960s. This 45W, all-tube combo with 4 x 10" Jensen speakers, tube reverb, and vibrato has long been considered one of the best amps to "crank up" for unmiked club gigs or on the concert stage. The all-time bluesy, funky rocker! Includes 2-button footswitch. http://www.nstuffmusic.com/p-9182-visual-sound-v2rt66-route-66-v2.aspx The Visual Sound Route 66 multi effects pedal gives you the great tone guitarists have come to love, plus an added noise reduction system that gives you that quiet ride you've always...

This is a Silverface version of the Super Reverb that appears to have only been made a couple years (1974-1975). This version has a Master Volume AND a push-pull boost switch on the Master Volume knob. Also has 5U4 rectifier. Here's a schematic: http://elektrotanya.com/PREVIEWS/63463243/23432455/fender/fender_cbs_45w_mstrvol_pullsw_super-pro-bmstr_rev_sch.pdf_1.png Speakers are the original Fender blue label CTS 10" AlNiCo. Power tubes are original RCA black plates. Preamp tubes are all RCA except the tremolo oscillator, which is a newer tube. Has the original footswitch. The guitar is a 1988 American Standard Telecaster.
The popular hit-making couple string three songs together in one memorable performance: "I Really Don't Want to Know", "There's no Place Like Home", and "Tiger Rag". This comes from their appearance on the public domain TV series, "The Colgate Comedy Hour", originally aired on March 21, 1954. That variety show actually starred Abbott & Costello, and featured various acts between skits. Les Paul & Mary Ford are awesome! And they're both legends! In the long run, Les fared better than Mary in commercial success. It's a real shame they broke up. Les was an innovative guitarist who ultimately had a guitar named after him (the Gibson Les Paul)! Mary was also an excellent guitarist. And she was an OUTSTANDING singer! Les Paul and Mary Ford had a fun onstage presence that combined humor...
88-year-old Les Paul playing live in a New York jazz club in July, 2003. Shot for The New York Times Web site.
A VERY rare live television performance by Les Paul and Mary Ford. Most musical performances on TV in the 1950's were Milli Vanilli-esque lip-synched affairs so this is a real gem. Les and Mary perform "There's No Place Like Home" with some classic add libbing, especially from Les. Mary Ford was a fine guitarist in her own right and that fact is ably demonstrated here. Watch for when Les goes wild and breaks his high E string. Mary is about to punish him when... Well, watch the video. And, dig those gorgeous 1952 Gibson Les Paul guitars, heavily customized by the master himself. Trivia: Les shattered and almost lost his right arm in a 1948 car crash. Les had the doctors set his elbow at an angle so he could still play guitar but he could never again fully extend his right arm.

AMERICAN MASTERS PBS SPECIAL - Les Paul ~ Chasing Sound Les Paul was the Godfather of the electric guitar. Inventor of multi-track recording, overdubbing, reverb, and echo. Music as we know it would literally not be possible without the recording processes he pioneered. His virtuosic playing, and the mythical Gibson electric guitar that bears his name, inspired the legends of the rock & roll revolution. These award-winning programs are regarded as the definitive and final portraits of this musician, inventor, and American legend. Both capture the late Les Paul in his final ribald and roasting-toasting performances, hilarious interviews, and a privileged behind-the-scenes tour of his museum-like New Jersey home. Strap in for a ride with this larger-than-life 90-year old as he plays his stan...

There's very few people in the audio industry that personify the term 'legend' as well as the late Les Paul. In this candid interview filmed in late 2006, Peter has the opportunity to meet one of his lifelong heros and presents him with a custom Classic II valve microphone and Les talks about his early inspirations. Les Paul will forever be known for his role in the popularity of the electric guitar, the design of the Gibson Les Paul guitar, the multi track recording, the early guitar effects, and his million selling recordings with wife Mary Ford. However, did you know Les also appeared as product endorsee in more NAMM shows than just about any other artist? From the 1950s onward Les stood in the Gibson booth shaking hands and signing autographs while promoting the guitar line. In fact in 2006, after the Gibson Company purchased Baldwin Pianos, Les was at the NAMM show promoting the Les Paul Baldwin Piano. Les passed away in August 2009 at the age of 94. NAMM and the Les Paul Foundation will celebrate his 100th birthday at the 2016 NAMM Show in Anaheim in January.

The CME gang takes on a spectacular collection of Fender Jazzmaster guitars—a rare assortment of models introduced between the years 1962 and 1965. This particular era not only marks a golden age of Fender craftsmanship and music-making—you’ll be hard-pressed to see these seven original instruments in the same place. Ever. Each of the seven models boasts all the bona fide Fender mojo one could hope for in an early ’60s Jazzmaster. Immaculate, genuine vintage colors? Aged gold hardware on select models? And yes, those are matching headstocks you’re seeing. Certainly enough to induce serious gear acquisition syndrome among collectors and Fender offset connoisseurs like our very own Shelby Pollard. The boys take the collection for a joyride in solo and duo formats while Shelby holds back te...

Fender Super Reverb amp exploration. So what is it?
Having a peek at the chassis. There are some troubles, but not fatal.
Applying some power. So far, so good. And a bit of speaker motor exercise.
What troubles the tremolo.
In this video I install a set of Warehouse Guitar Speaker Veteran 10" speakers into my Fender Super Reverb guitar amplifier!
The problem turned out to be unusual and although I was able to stop the crackling noise, it is not completely fixed. There are many simple mods you can do to a Super Reverb and one is to pull the V1 tube if you don't use the Normal channel. In this video, I show you that you can also pull the V5 tube if you have disconnected the tremolo. V2 and V4 are the most important tubes for the tone. You can also put a 12AU7 in the reverb send (V3) to tame the reverb. I have not tried that yet. So, back to the repair. What really needs to be done is to take the circuit boards off and see what is underneath causing problems. These old fiberboard eyelet boards absorb moisture over the years and warp. They also become conductive. Apparently there is something touching something else and the t...
