A review of one of the most easily available budget turntable brands. Is it worth the extra savings?
Includes a blind sound quality test and an overview of features.
PLEASE READ: Since making this video many record enthusiasts who know a great deal more than me about players have said this is a very poor player and far better can be bought for the same price if cheaper - even a vintage one. I can say this player is very popular with younger people like myself into the 50s/60s scene but its still probably not a good buy. Apparently it 'carves' into the records on a minute scale, which I don't see why it matters particularly much if its so subtle it cannot be noticed, but prolonged use on collectible records doesn't sound like a wise decision. This video was made simply from a 'joe bloggs' perspective, and it was based only on first impressions. I still have it and it works great for the odd spin but I'm sure technically its not good compared to other turntables.
I get out the Crosley Cruiser Record Player and give some vinyl a spin. Design is outstanding high 8/10, whilst the inbuilt speakers are 6/10 for quality - helped by their inbuilt portability, but decreased by the expectation to need to attach bigger speakers if you want something louder. It does also struggle to play new records as their smoothness causes it to slip and jump often.

This is a review of the Crosley Cruiser turntable. It's a trendy roots turntable which is very easy to handle. The audio quality is not perfect but absolutely adequate for the price you've to pay for this equipment. We enjoy this turntable very much.
Please find it his movie some insight in what you exactly get when you buy this turntable and what quality you can expect.

The Crosley was an automobile manufactured by the Crosley Corporation and later by Crosley Motors Incorporated in the United States from 1939 to 1952.
Industrialist Powel Crosley, Jr., of Cincinnati, Ohio, owner of Crosley Broadcasting Corporation and the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, had ambitious plans to build a subcompact car and with the able assistance of his younger, graduate engineer brother Lewis Crosley, developed assembly plants at Richmond, Indiana, and Marion, Indiana. In May 1939, the first car was shown at the Indianapolis Speedway. It was a two-door convertible that weighed under 1,000-pound (454 kg) and sold for US$250. It did not achieve sales success, but in 1941 more body styles were introduced.
The chassis had an 80-inch (2,032 mm) wheelbase using half-elliptic springs with beam axle in front and quarter-elliptic springs in the rear. The power came from a two-cylinder Waukesha air-cooled engine that had the fan as an integral part of the flywheel. The engine was connected with a three-speed transmission and then directly via a torque tube to the rear axle, thus eliminating the need for joints. However, this arrangement was judged unreliable, and conventional universal joints were fitted beginning in 1941.

Crosley Cruiser Record Player Review
PLEASE READ: Since making this video many record enthusiasts who know a great deal more than me about players have said this is a very poor player and far better can be bought for the same price if cheaper - even a vintage one. I can say this player is very popular with younger people like myself into the 50s/60s scene but its still probably not a good buy. Apparently it 'carves' into the records on a minute scale, which I don't see why it matters particularly much if its so subtle it cannot be noticed, but prolonged use on collectible records doesn't sound like a wise decision. This video was made simply from a 'joe bloggs' perspective, and it was based only on first impressions. I still have it and it works great for the odd spin but I'm sure technically its not good compared to other tu... -

PLEASE READ: Since making this video many record enthusiasts who know a great deal more than me about players have said this is a very poor player and far better can be bought for the same price if cheaper - even a vintage one. I get out the Crosley Cruiser Record Player and give some vinyl a spin. Design is outstanding high 8/10, whilst the inbuilt speakers are 6/10 for quality - helped by their inbuilt portability, but decreased by the expectation to need to attach bigger speakers if you want something louder. It does also struggle to play new records as their smoothness causes it to slip and jump often.
