Oh, No, a Jury Summons? What am I supposed to do? First you should read the summons thoroughly. The summons will answer most of the questions you might have. You should also notify your employer of your jury service date. You can check your status at jury.mecklenburgcountync.gov Jurors park for free at the 4th street parking deck located at the corner of 5th and McDowell street. You can enter the deck from two ways: the 4th street entrance and the Elizabeth avenue entrance. Signs indicating juror parking will guide your way. You will need to punch a ticket at the gate to enter the deck Be sure to take this ticket with you inside the courthouse. Otherwise we cannot validate your parking. Juror parking is available on levels 3-7. Be sure that you park on these levels, and not levels 1 or 2. When you have found your parking space, walk towards the elevators. Take the elevator down to level 2: plaza On level 2, exit the elevator to your right and proceed through the plaza towards McDowell street. You will see the Mecklenburg county courthouse across the street Once inside the courthouse, you will have to walk through a security checkpoint operated by the Mecklenburg County Sherriff’s Office. You must remove all metals from your person and place them in the bin along with any additional items like purses, bags, or suitcases. If the alarm sounds, you may be subjected to additional searches. Once you have cleared the security checkpoint, you will proceed through the lobby to the public elevators. At the elevator, press the up button and travel to level 5: the Jury Assembly Room. At level 5, turn right as you exit the elevator area. If you get lost there are floor directories located in the same location on each floor. Proceed down the hallway. At the end of the hall, you will see the Jury Assembly Room. Congrats! You have finally reached your destination! Once you enter the Jury Assembly Room, you need to check in with the jury coordinators at the front desk. You will have to present your summons to the jury coordinator who will then check you in and validate your parking It is very important you check in and make sure your presence is accounted for. Once you have checked in, please move to the waiting area and complete a short questionnaire. After everyone has checked in, you will be given a live detailed orientation that will answer any questions that you may have. Please silence any electronics during this orientation. After orientation, you will watch a short informative video about the juror process. Being a Mecklenburg county juror does not have to be an unpleasant experience. We have made great effort to ensure your comfort in the Jury Assembly Room while you wait. There are magazines, a kitchen with vending, a business center where you can work, a quiet room, a cell phone room, a fresh air balcony, and even a game room for your entertainment. Jurors are also treated to movies throughout the day and free popcorn in the afternoon. There is also a locker room for securely storing your items. Do you have kids? No need to worry. We also offer free on-site childcare for jurors in Larry King’s Clubhouse. The jury coordinator will make an announcement when it’s time for lunch. Located on level one, the Courtside Café offers a variety of items at an affordable price.
