SINOPSIS Los collas, habitantes de la frontera argentino-boliviana, son esclavizados y llevados a los cañaverales de las provincias norteñas a trabajar en la recolección de la caña de azúcar. La historia se centra en los personajes de Damiano y Teodora, dos indígenas enamorados, cuyas vidas están marcadas por la actitud malvada y lasciva de un siniestro individuo apodado "El Negrero". El castigo al que éste somete a Teodoro provoca una rebelión de los trabajadores que será brutalmente reprimida. (FILMAFFINITY)
Estrenada el 9 de abril de 1959, con dirección de Lucas Demare y guión de Sixto Pondal Ríos, la película se basaba en el enfrentamiento de un ingeniero y un obrero por una mujer, en el marco de la explotación de la zafra.
Con sólo 15 años actuaba Graciela Borges, que había debutado un año antes en cine con Hugo del Carril, en Una cita con la vida, y quien desde aquella filmación mantuvo "una relación entrañable con Yupanqui".
"La tuve hasta el final. Tengo cartas maravillosas guardadas que él me escribía desde Francia, o desde donde estuviera. La última la recibí 15 o 20 días antes de su muerte. Era muy gracioso: en las cartas el ponía al frente "a Graciela Borges", atrás decía "vete carta, búscala". Las tengo guardadas como oro. Don Ata me decía princesita, lo que me honraba mucho porque yo lo admiraba enormemente".
Por otra parte recordó aquellos tiempos del rodaje: "En esa película estuve tuberculosa. Me enfermé mucho durante el rodaje, porque comíamos mal y hacía mucho calor, y se me había ido el apetito. Comíamos donde podíamos, en los lugares más increíbles que te puedas imaginar, porque estábamos todo el tiempo tratando de aprender a trabajar la caña, la zafra, con 45 ó 50 grados de calor. Un día me caí en sus brazos cruzando la cremallera, cuando me enfermé. Mi madre estaba, pero el que más me cuidaba siempre fue Atahualpa".
Por otra parte, la protagonista recuerda muchas guitarreadas durante el rodaje, algo que ella disfrutó hasta el final. "Una de las más lindas cosas que me pasaron, antes de que se muriera don Ata, fue cuando le dije una vez que se iba, como siempre se ha ido, a París. Le pregunté "cuándo vas a volver, que yo te extraño", y me dijo "pronto, si, sino ¿quien me la va a cuidar a usted?".
Para Graciela Borges, Atahualpa era "una persona súper sensible, de un humor extraordinario. Una vez estuvimos en una comida maravillosa junto a la Negra Mercedes Sosa y él. Don Ata tocó la guitarra y la Negra cantó. Después, al terminar, contó unos cuentos tan graciosos, que todos nos podíamos más de la risa".

Zafra
Zafra is a town situated in the Province of Badajoz (Extremadura, Spain), and the capital of the comarca of Zafra - Río Bodión. It has a population of 16,677, according to the 2011 census.
Zafra is the hometown of Fray Ruy Lopez, author of one of the first European treatises on chess, and the humanist and arbitrist Pedro de Valencia.
History
Human traces of great antiquity have been found in the area. In the "El Castellar" mountains are located caves with pictograms. Also, a fort dating to the Bronze Age was found in the nearby chapel of Belén.
Roman era
Zafra has been associated with the Roman names Restituta Iulia Imperial,Contributa Iulia Ugultunia, and Segida Restituta Iulia, though this applies equally to some of the other towns in the area. The name Contributa Julia appears on an 1849 map of Roman Hispania (in the south-west of Spain, in the area named Baeturia) alongside the name Regina (presently associated with the ruins of a small Roman town of the same name ), lending some geographical support to the possibility of an association of the name Contributa Iulia or Contributa Julia with Zafra. Other sources, however, support an association of the name Segida Restituta Iulia with Zafra. Yet other, authoritative, sources associate no Roman name with Zafra. In the area round Zafra may be found the remains of as many as 20 Roman villas. These, and associations between the name Restitutia Iulia and a migration from the legendary Segeda, may be linked to the origin of the town.

SINOPSIS Los collas, habitantes de la frontera argentino-boliviana, son esclavizados y llevados a los cañaverales de las provincias norteñas a trabajar en la recolección de la caña de azúcar. La historia se centra en los personajes de Damiano y Teodora, dos indígenas enamorados, cuyas vidas están marcadas por la actitud malvada y lasciva de un siniestro individuo apodado "El Negrero". El castigo al que éste somete a Teodoro provoca una rebelión de los trabajadores que será brutalmente reprimida. (FILMAFFINITY)
Estrenada el 9 de abril de 1959, con dirección de Lucas Demare y guión de Sixto Pondal Ríos, la película se basaba en el enfrentamiento de un ingeniero y un obrero por una mujer, en el marco de la explotación de la zafra.
Con sólo 15 años actuaba Graciela Borges, que había debutado un año antes en cine con Hugo del Carril, en Una cita con la vida, y quien desde aquella filmación mantuvo "una relación entrañable con Yupanqui".
"La tuve hasta el final. Tengo cartas maravillosas guardadas que él me escribía desde Francia, o desde donde estuviera. La última la recibí 15 o 20 días antes de su muerte. Era muy gracioso: en las cartas el ponía al frente "a Graciela Borges", atrás decía "vete carta, búscala". Las tengo guardadas como oro. Don Ata me decía princesita, lo que me honraba mucho porque yo lo admiraba enormemente".
Por otra parte recordó aquellos tiempos del rodaje: "En esa película estuve tuberculosa. Me enfermé mucho durante el rodaje, porque comíamos mal y hacía mucho calor, y se me había ido el apetito. Comíamos donde podíamos, en los lugares más increíbles que te puedas imaginar, porque estábamos todo el tiempo tratando de aprender a trabajar la caña, la zafra, con 45 ó 50 grados de calor. Un día me caí en sus brazos cruzando la cremallera, cuando me enfermé. Mi madre estaba, pero el que más me cuidaba siempre fue Atahualpa".
Por otra parte, la protagonista recuerda muchas guitarreadas durante el rodaje, algo que ella disfrutó hasta el final. "Una de las más lindas cosas que me pasaron, antes de que se muriera don Ata, fue cuando le dije una vez que se iba, como siempre se ha ido, a París. Le pregunté "cuándo vas a volver, que yo te extraño", y me dijo "pronto, si, sino ¿quien me la va a cuidar a usted?".
Para Graciela Borges, Atahualpa era "una persona súper sensible, de un humor extraordinario. Una vez estuvimos en una comida maravillosa junto a la Negra Mercedes Sosa y él. Don Ata tocó la guitarra y la Negra cantó. Después, al terminar, contó unos cuentos tan graciosos, que todos nos podíamos más de la risa".
