This is Stephen Crabb, the new Work and Pensions Secretary in place of Iain Duncan Smith, and here's a brief look at his life, career, voting record. He was brought up in a Welsh council house by his single mum who escaped abuse at the hands of his dad when little Stephen was eight. Her journey from benefits dependency to economic independence has shaped his attitude to the welfare system. He is the new, bearded, face of the Tories as their raid in Labour heartlands continues. The MP for Preseli Pembrokeshire became the first bearded Tory Cabinet minister for a century in 2014. 43-year-old Crabb had been Secretary of State for his native Wales where he led with traditional conservative values.
