Tip and ring are the names of the two conductors or sides of a telephone line. The terms originate in reference to the telephone plugs used for connecting telephone calls in manual switchboards. One side of the line is connected to the metal tip of the plug, and the second is connected to a metal ring behind the tip, separated and insulated from the tip by a non-conducting material. When inserted into a jack, the plug's tip conductor connects first, followed the ring conductor. In many European countries tip and ring are referred to as the A and B wires.
The ring conductor has a direct current potential of −48V to −52V with respect to tip conductor when the line is in the on-hook state. Neither conductor is referenced to ground. Floating both conductors minimizes the pickup of hum from any nearby alternating current power wires.

Next the four Cs are discussed:

ebruary is a popular month for diamonds, with millions of couples becoming engaged on Valentine's Day, alone. If you're thinking of popping the question—and proposing with a diamond bauble—here are some important shopping tips to help you make the smartest purchase.
Ignore the 3-Month Salary Rule
Spending the traditional two to three month's salary is no longer the case, says Salim Shamy of LaViano Jewelers in New Jersey, a popular destination for engagement rings and wedding bands. In fact, in 2010, consumers spent an average of $5,392 on an engagement ring—or roughly, 10 percent of the average U.S. household income. These days, the purchase depends largely on one's financial situation, disposable income and savings. "Don't go beyond your ability," says Shamy. "If you prepare to spend $10,000, just make sure you're getting the best product at $10,000."
Before walking into a jewelry store, have some idea of what you want. Learn what makes a diamond special and what kind of diamond your special someone might prefer.
A diamond's rarity—and therefore its price—is determined by four unique characteristics: the Four C's: carat (the weight), clarity (the degree of flaws or blemishes), color (from colorless to yellow) and cut (the shape). This is the universal grading system used to objectively compare diamonds.
Pay Special Attention to the Cut
A diamond of a smaller carat, but with an exquisite cut, could take on the appearance of a much pricier gem. So much so that Shamy of LaViano Jewelers rates a diamond's cut or shape—ranging from excellent to poor—as the most important purchasing criteria, because it helps to determine its brilliance or "sparkle." The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) agrees, saying that the "allure of a particular diamond depends more on cut than anything else." Some of the key factors in a diamond's cut include its proportions, symmetry and polish.
Choose the Stone First, Setting Second
Gem experts advocate buying a loose diamond first, then deciding on its setting. The diamond, after all, is the most important and expensive aspect of the ring. You want to be able to pick the best stone that fits your budget, and when the diamond is loose, you're better able to evaluate its 4 C's. Preset diamond rings tend to be slightly more expensive, as well.
Request Certification
All diamonds should come with a stone certificate, a document from an independent third-party authority, such as the GIA or the American Gem Society (AGS), which verifies its authenticity and description. Reputable jewelers should provide this without hesitation. If not, take that as the ultimate red flag that the diamond is not all its hyped up to be. The GIA Diamond Grading Report, for example, provides technical information, such as the dimensions, quality and characteristics of a loose diamond. For added piece of mind—and for insurance reasons—you may also want to have the diamond valued by an independent appraisal specialist.

An engagement ring is a ring indicating that the person wearing it is engaged to be married, especially in Western cultures. In Western countries, it is customarily worn on the left hand ring finger, though customs vary across the world.
Before agreeing to marry, a couple may choose to buy and wear pre-engagement rings, also called promise rings. After marrying, the couple may wear both engagement rings and wedding rings, or if they prefer, only the wedding rings. Some brides have their engagement and wedding rings permanently soldered together after marriage.

ebruary is a popular month for diamonds, with millions of couples becoming engaged on Valentine's Day, alone. If you're thinking of popping the question—and proposing with a diamond bauble—here are some important shopping tips to help you make the smartest purchase.
Ignore the 3-Month Salary Rule
Spending the traditional two to three month's salary is no longer the case, says Salim Shamy of LaViano Jewelers in New Jersey, a popular destination for engagement rings and wedding bands. In fact, in 2010, consumers spent an average of $5,392 on an engagement ring—or roughly, 10 percent of the average U.S. household income. These days, the purchase depends largely on one's financial situation, disposable income and savings. "Don't go beyond your ability," says Shamy. "If you prepare to spend $10,000, just make sure you're getting the best product at $10,000."
Before walking into a jewelry store, have some idea of what you want. Learn what makes a diamond special and what kind of diamond your special someone might prefer.
A diamond's rarity—and therefore its price—is determined by four unique characteristics: the Four C's: carat (the weight), clarity (the degree of flaws or blemishes), color (from colorless to yellow) and cut (the shape). This is the universal grading system used to objectively compare diamonds.
Pay Special Attention to the Cut
A diamond of a smaller carat, but with an exquisite cut, could take on the appearance of a much pricier gem. So much so that Shamy of LaViano Jewelers rates a diamond's cut or shape—ranging from excellent to poor—as the most important purchasing criteria, because it helps to determine its brilliance or "sparkle." The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) agrees, saying that the "allure of a particular diamond depends more on cut than anything else." Some of the key factors in a diamond's cut include its proportions, symmetry and polish.
Choose the Stone First, Setting Second
Gem experts advocate buying a loose diamond first, then deciding on its setting. The diamond, after all, is the most important and expensive aspect of the ring. You want to be able to pick the best stone that fits your budget, and when the diamond is loose, you're better able to evaluate its 4 C's. Preset diamond rings tend to be slightly more expensive, as well.
Request Certification
All diamonds should come with a stone certificate, a document from an independent third-party authority, such as the GIA or the American Gem Society (AGS), which verifies its authenticity and description. Reputable jewelers should provide this without hesitation. If not, take that as the ultimate red flag that the diamond is not all its hyped up to be. The GIA Diamond Grading Report, for example, provides technical information, such as the dimensions, quality and characteristics of a loose diamond. Next the four Cs are discussed:
Color - colorless is the best quality with near colorless next to the best (D,E,F,G,H). Slightly tinted, faint yellow, very light yellow, and light yellow round out the not desirable (I - Z).
Clarity - inclusions are spots that are out-of-place and less clear. The less inclusions, the more expensive the diamond. Alpha discusses with a chart (IF, VVS1, VS1, SI1, I1)
Cut - Alpha discusses the versions which dictate what the diamond looks like. The sparkle is more lustrous from the 'ideal' cut diamond: very shallow, shallow, ideal, deep, very deep).
Carat - the carat is the weight of the diamond and correlates to the size of the diamond.
The setting is the band and prongs that the diamond is set-in and can make the diamond look 20% larger. Buy what you can afford. Set your budget and upgrade later. Buying online can afford you a bigger diamond at a lower price.

Diamond Buying Basics
First, determine the diamonds shape. Alpha discusses each with a chart and recommends selecting 'round' because it's always in style & in vogue, and she'll always love it. Other options are emerald cut , princess cut, heart, radiant, oval, marquise, asscher, and pear.
Next the four Cs are discussed:
Color - colorless is the best quality with near colorless next to the best (D,E,F,G,H). Slightly tinted, faint yellow, very light yellow, and light yellow round out the not desirable (I - Z).
Clarity - inclusions are spots that are out-of-place and less clear. The less inclusions, the more expensive the diamond. Alpha discusses with a chart (IF, VVS1, VS1, SI1, I1)
Cut - Alpha discusses the versions which dictate what the diamond looks like. The sparkle is more lustrous from the 'ideal' cut diamond: very shallow, shallow, ideal, deep, very deep).
Carat - the carat is the weight of the diamond and correlates to the size of the diamond.
The setting is the band and prongs that the diamond is set-in and can make the diamond look 20% larger. Buy what you can afford. Set your budget and upgrade later. Buying online can afford you a bigger diamond at a lower price.

Spending the traditional two to three month's salary is no longer the case, says Salim Shamy of LaViano Jewelers in New Jersey, a popular destination for engagement rings and wedding bands. In fact, in 2010, consumers spent an average of $5,392 on an engagement ring—or roughly, 10 percent of the average U.S. household income. These days, the purchase depends largely on one's financial situation, disposable income and savings. "Don't go beyond your ability," says Shamy. "If you prepare to spend $10,000, just make sure you're getting the best product at $10,000."
Before walking into a jewelry store, have some idea of what you want. Learn what makes a diamond special and what kind of diamond your special someone might prefer.
A diamond's rarity—and therefore its price—is determined by four unique characteristics: the Four C's: carat (the weight), clarity (the degree of flaws or blemishes), color (from colorless to yellow) and cut (the shape). This is the universal grading system used to objectively compare diamonds.

Choose the Stone First, Setting Second
Gem experts advocate buying a loose diamond first, then deciding on its setting. The diamond, after all, is the most important and expensive aspect of the ring. You want to be able to pick the best stone that fits your budget, and when the diamond is loose, you're better able to evaluate its 4 C's. Preset diamond rings tend to be slightly more expensive, as well.
Request Certification
All diamonds should come with a stone certificate, a document from an independent third-party authority, such as the GIA or the American Gem Society (AGS), which verifies its authenticity and description. Reputable jewelers should provide this without hesitation. If not, take that as the ultimate red flag that the diamond is not all its hyped up to be. The GIA Diamond Grading Report, for example, provides technical information, such as the dimensions, quality and characteristics of a loose diamond. For added piece of mind—and for insurance reasons—you may also want to have the diamond valued by an independent appraisal specialist.

With Los Angeles Lakers fans, NBA legends, former teammates, Hollywood royalty, his wife and his children watching his every move, Kobe entertained us all one more time with a performance that seemed, even as it was unfolding, like the stuff of fiction.
Shaquille O'Neal wasn't kidding. He really did call for 50 during an "Inside the NBA" chat last month. Back then, Kobe said no. On Wednesday, he changed his mind.
He scored 60 points — the highest-scoring game in the NBA this season, topping Anthony Davis' 59; the sixth 60-point game of his career, second-most all-time behind fellow Laker great Wilt Chamberlain; and the most points ever by a player in his final NBA game (joining, of all people, Jordan Crawford and Eddie House!). He did so on 50 field-goal attempts, the most by any player in any one game dating back to the 1983-84 season, to lead the Lakers to a thrilling and unbelievable 101-96 win over the visiting Utah Jazz.
In yet another season full of losing that saw the Lakers finish with a franchise-worst 17-65 record, Kobe found a way to go out a winner ... and to go out a winner in the most precisely, 10-out-of-10 Kobe way humanly possible.
Kobe becomes one of just four players in NBA history to take 50 shots in a game, joining Wilt, Elgin Baylor and Rick Barry. On top of its head are two short, blunt horns, and it has purple eyes. A tube extends from the back of its skull to the top of its spine, bypassing its neck. It has a defined chest and shoulders, which resemble a breastplate. The three digits on each hand and foot have spherical tips. Its tail is thick at the base, but thins before ending in a small bulb.
Mega Mewtwo X is larger and bulkier than its normal state. The horns on its head are longer and extend from V-shaped ridges on its forehead. Additionally, the horns are now pointed and curve upward. It now has two tubes behind its neck, its eyes are light blue, and it has large, purple growths over its shoulders. Its torso is smooth and small compared to its long, bulky limbs, and a Y-shaped line connects the collar and underbelly. Its forearms and thighs each have two raised ridges, and its digits are now longer and thinner. The tail is slightly shorter and stiffer than before and has a curled tip.
In comparison, Mega Mewtwo Y is smaller and lighter, losing its long tail and the tube behind its neck. However, it grows a long, purple appendage with a curled tip from the back of its head that is similar to its previous form's tail. On its head it has two pointed, backward-curving spikes and a half-ring structure connecting to base of each and crossing over the top of its head, with empty space inside. Its eyes are now red and slightly larger. The digits on its hands and feet are now purple and more bulbous, and the middle toe is longer than the others. A bumpy ridge similar to a sternum replaces the breastplate structure on its chest, but this form is still largely smoother than the other two.
Mewtwo was created after years of horrific gene splicing and DNA engineering experiments based on Mew. It is said to have the most savage heart among all Pokémon, lack compassion, and strike fear into its enemy with cold, glowing eyes. Because it was engineered to be the ultimate in battle, it can only think of defeating its foes. In the first movie, Mewtwo exemplified these vicious characteristics and was shown to be capable of levitation, telepathy and mind control. However, it was later shown to be caring, protective, and even altruistic. Another Mewtwo in the anime shared its aversion to contact with others, but was much less belligerent. Mewtwo conserves energy by remaining motionless in order to unleash its full power in battle. It is also capable of materializing psychic waves in the form of its signature move, Psystrike. Though rarely seen in the wild, it is said to be resting in a dark cave somewhere.
