FILM DESCRIPTION:
Billy Wilder's Sunset Boulevard ranks among the most scathing satires of Hollywood and the cruel fickleness of movie fandom. The story begins at the end as the body of Joe Gillis (William Holden) is fished out of a Hollywood swimming pool. From The Great Beyond, Joe details the circumstances of his untimely demise (originally, the film contained a lengthy prologue wherein the late Mr. Gillis told his tale to his fellow corpses in the city morgue, but this elicited such laughter during the preview that Wilder changed it). Hotly pursued by repo men, impoverished, indebted "boy wonder" screenwriter Gillis ducks into the garage of an apparently abandoned Sunset Boulevard mansion. Wandering into the spooky place, Joe encounters its owner, imperious silent star Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson). Upon learning Joe's profession, Norma inveigles him into helping her with a comeback script that she's been working on for years. Joe realizes that the script is hopeless, but the money is good and he has nowhere else to go. Soon the cynical and opportunistic Joe becomes Norma's kept man. While they continue collaborating, Norma's loyal and protective chauffeur Max Von Mayerling (played by legendary filmmaker Erich von Stroheim) contemptuously watches from a distance. More melodramatic than funny, the screenplay by Wilder and Charles Brackett began life as a comedy about a has-been silent movie actress and the ambitious screenwriter who leeches off her. (Wilder originally offered the film to Mae West, Mary Pickford and Pola Negri. Montgomery Clift was the first choice for the part of opportunistic screenwriter Joe Gillis, but he refused, citing as "disgusting" the notion of a 25-year-old man being kept by a 50-year-old woman.) Andrew Lloyd Webber's long-running musical version has served as a tour-de-force for contemporary actresses ranging from Glenn Close to Betty Buckley to Diahann Carroll.

Sunset Boulevard is a street in the western part of Los Angeles County, California, that stretches from Figueroa Street in downtown Los Angeles to the Pacific Coast Highway at the Pacific Ocean in the Pacific Palisades. The street is an icon of Hollywood celebrity culture and the phrase "Sunset Boulevard" is an enduring shorthand for the glamor associated with Hollywood.
Approximately 24 miles (39 km) in length, the famous boulevard roughly mimics the arc of the mountains that form the northern boundary of the Los Angeles Basin. From downtown Los Angeles, it heads northwest, to Hollywood, through which it travels due west for several miles before it bends southwest, on course to the Pacific. It passes through or near Echo Park, Silver Lake, Los Feliz, the aforementioned Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Holmby Hills, Bel-Air, Brentwood, and Pacific Palisades. Other than West Hollywood and Beverly Hills, which are independent incorporated cities, the places named above are all districts and neighborhoods in the City of Los Angeles. In the Bel-Air district of Los Angeles, Sunset Boulevard runs along the northern boundary of the UCLA Westwood campus, and it also serves as the postal divider between north and south west of Beverly Hills.

John Scot Barrowman (born March 11, 1967) is a Scottish–American actor, singer, dancer, musical theatre performer, writer and television personality. Born in Glasgow, he grew up in Illinois following his family's emigration to the U.S. Encouraged by his high school teachers, Barrowman studied performing arts at the United States International University in San Diego before landing the role of Billy Crocker in Cole Porter's Anything Goes in London's West End.
Since his debut in professional theatre, Barrowman has played lead roles in various musicals both in the West End and on Broadway, including Miss Saigon, The Phantom of the Opera, Sunset Boulevard and Matador. After appearing in Sam Mendes' production of The Fix, he was nominated for the 1998 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical and, in the early 2000s, returned to the role of Billy Crocker in the revival of Anything Goes. His most recent West End credit was in the 2009 production of La Cage aux Folles.

Hugh Michael Jackman (born 12 October 1968) is an Australian actor and producer who is involved in film, musical theatre, and television.
Jackman has won international recognition for his roles in major films, notably as action/superhero, period and romance characters. He is known for his role as Wolverine in the X-Men film series, as well as for his leads in Kate & Leopold, Van Helsing, The Prestige, Australia, and Real Steel. Jackman is a singer, dancer, and actor in stage musicals, and won a Tony Award for his role in The Boy from Oz.
In November 2008, Open Salon named Jackman one of the sexiest men alive. Later that same month, People magazine named Jackman "Sexiest Man Alive."
A three-time host of the Tony Awards, winning an Emmy Award for one of these appearances, Jackman also hosted the 81st Academy Awards on 22 February 2009.
Jackman was born in Sydney, New South Wales, the youngest of five children of English parents Chris Jackman and Grace Watson, and the second child to be born in Australia (he also has a younger half-sister, from his mother's re-marriage). One of his paternal great-grandfathers was Greek. His parents divorced when he was eight, and he remained with his accountant father and siblings, while his mother moved back to England. As a child, Jackman liked the outdoors, spending a lot of time at the beach and on camping trips and vacations all over Australia. He wanted to see the world: "I used to spend nights looking at atlases. I decided I wanted to be a chef on a plane. Because I'd been on a plane and there was food on board, I presumed there was a chef. I thought that would be an ideal job."

FILM DESCRIPTION: Billy Wilder's Sunset Boulevard ranks among the most scathing satires of Hollywood and the cruel fickleness of movie fandom. The story begins at the end as the body of Joe Gillis (William Holden) is fished out of a Hollywood swimming pool. From The Great Beyond, Joe details the circumstances of his untimely demise (originally, the film contained a lengthy prologue wherein the late Mr. Gillis told his tale to his fellow corpses in the city morgue, but this elicited such laughter during the preview that Wilder changed it). Hotly pursued by repo men, impoverished, indebted "boy wonder" screenwriter Gillis ducks into the garage of an apparently abandoned Sunset Boulevard mansion. Wandering into the spooky place, Joe encounters its owner, imperious silent star Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson). Upon learning Joe's profession, Norma inveigles him into helping her with a comeback script that she's been working on for years. Joe realizes that the script is hopeless, but the money is good and he has nowhere else to go. Soon the cynical and opportunistic Joe becomes Norma's kept man. While they continue collaborating, Norma's loyal and protective chauffeur Max Von Mayerling (played by legendary filmmaker Erich von Stroheim) contemptuously watches from a distance. More melodramatic than funny, the screenplay by Wilder and Charles Brackett began life as a comedy about a has-been silent movie actress and the ambitious screenwriter who leeches off her. (Wilder originally offered the film to Mae West, Mary Pickford and Pola Negri. Montgomery Clift was the first choice for the part of opportunistic screenwriter Joe Gillis, but he refused, citing as "disgusting" the notion of a 25-year-old man being kept by a 50-year-old woman.) Andrew Lloyd Webber's long-running musical version has served as a tour-de-force for contemporary actresses ranging from Glenn Close to Betty Buckley to Diahann Carroll. Hotly pursued by repo men, impoverished, indebted "boy wonder" screenwriter Gillis ducks into the garage of an apparently abandoned Sunset Boulevard mansion. Wandering into the spooky place, Joe encounters its owner, imperious silent star Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson). Upon learning Joe's profession, Norma inveigles him into helping her with a comeback script that she's been working on for years. Joe realizes that the script is hopeless, but the money is good and he has nowhere else to go. Soon the cynical and opportunistic Joe becomes Norma's kept man. While they continue collaborating, Norma's loyal and protective chauffeur Max Von Mayerling (played by legendary filmmaker Erich von Stroheim) contemptuously watches from a distance. More melodramatic than funny, the screenplay by Wilder and Charles Brackett began life as a comedy about a has-been silent movie actress and the ambitious screenwriter who leeches off her. Billy Wilder's Sunset Boulevard ranks among the most scathing satires of Hollywood and the cruel fickleness of movie fandom. The story begins at the end as the body of Joe Gillis (William Holden) is fished out of a Hollywood swimming pool. From The Great Beyond, Joe details the circumstances of his untimely demise (originally, the film contained a lengthy prologue wherein the late Mr. Gillis told his tale to his fellow corpses in the city morgue, but this elicited such laughter during the preview that Wilder changed it). Hotly pursued by repo men, impoverished, indebted "boy wonder" screenwriter Gillis ducks into the garage of an apparently abandoned Sunset Boulevard mansion. Wandering into the spooky place, Joe encounters its owner, imperious silent star Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson). Upon learning Joe's profession, Norma inveigles him into helping her with a comeback script that she's been working on for years. Joe realizes that the script is hopeless, but the money is good and he has nowhere else to go. Soon the cynical and opportunistic Joe becomes Norma's kept man. While they continue collaborating, Norma's loyal and protective chauffeur Max Von Mayerling (played by legendary filmmaker Erich von Stroheim) contemptuously watches from a distance. In 1877, one of the earlier real estate owners from back East Horace H. Wilcox, decided to subdivide his more than 20 acres of land (mostly orchards and vineyards) along Sunset Boulevard, including what is today Hollywood and Vine. Who’s Jordy?
Jordy was born and raised in a small town in Belgium. He grew up with the classic values and respect that comes together when living in a small "suburby village" far from the big city. As a child he was terrified by this crazy jungle of buildings, but soon he grew out of his little cocoon and flew around, ready to explore what lie ahead of him. He started acting an modelling and due to his authenticity and open minded spirit, doors opened spontaneously; With this background, living in Los Angeles (LA) - California is a dream come true.

As a Belgian model Jordy started traveling all over the globe and discovered the secrets of cultures and the answsers to questions one refuses to ask. As he pursued his passion Jordy fell into the fascinating world of fashion, where he is free to enhance his personality by "dressing up" and collaborating with extraordinary designers all over the globe. Today Jordy is a rising shining star. He hops from one modelling and publicity job to another. In the meanwhile he prepares for film and theatre auditions, hangs out with his flatmate and friends and looks in amazement at the world around him

Jordy was born in Belgium, Maaseik on May first. Who’s Jordy?
Jordy was born and raised in a small town in Belgium. He grew up with the classic values and respect that comes together when living in a small "suburby village" far from the big city. As a child he was terrified by this crazy jungle of buildings, but soon he grew out of his little cocoon and flew around, ready to explore what lie ahead of him. He started acting an modelling and due to his authenticity and open minded spirit, doors opened spontaneously; With this background, living in Los Angeles (LA) - California is a dream come true.
What does he do?
As a Belgian model Jordy started traveling all over the globe and discovered the secrets of cultures and the answsers to questions one refuses to ask. As he pursued his passion Jordy fell into the fascinating world of fashion, where he is free to enhance his personality by "dressing up" and collaborating with extraordinary designers all over the globe. Today Jordy is a rising shining star. He hops from one modelling and publicity job to another. In the meanwhile he prepares for film and theatre auditions, hangs out with his flatmate and friends and looks in amazement at the world around him

Universal Studios is the largest and most active film and television studio in the world as well as a popular family day out, being one of the most successful amusement parks in the U.S.A. and its many famous film sets are instantly recognizable.
Since its opening in 1955, Disneyland has become a worldwide phenomenon. The world's original and longest surviving theme park provides an enchanting mix of shows, attractions and well known cartoon characters and the journey through Toontown on its bumpy tramway is a stimulating experience for both young and old.
At weekends, those who want to see but, above all, be seen, make for Venice Beach. The sandy beach is relaxing and its many pavements are popular with joggers and roller skaters alike. Even by Los Angeles standards, the performers on Muscle Beach are quite outrageous and while some body-builders lift thousands of kilos, others shamelessly display their supreme egos by strutting like conceited peacocks!
Built in 1908, Santa Monica Pier is reminiscent of the hazy lazy seaside resorts of the 1920s. Extending into the water some 300 metres, the pier's amusement park is constantly bursting with life, with its big wheel, swings and richly- decorated carousel.
Once the most celebrated residential area of the rich and famous, today Sunset Boulevard is a busy main traffic artery. At night, when brash neon signs shine out their colorful animated messages, this famous boulevard still possesses a unique atmosphere.
Los Angeles is the enormous multicultural city on America's West Coast in which film stars, earthquakes and joie de vivre are essential to life itself!

In 1877, one of the earlier real estate owners from back East Horace H. Wilcox, decided to subdivide his more than 20 acres of land (mostly orchards and vineyards) along Sunset Boulevard, including what is today Hollywood and Vine.
In 1890, Belgian diplomat Victor Ponet bought 240 acres of the former Rancho La Brea land grant. His son-in-law, Francis S. Montgomery, inherited this property and created Sunset Plaza.
In 1921, a westward expansion of Sunset began, extending the road from the then-current terminus at Sullivan Canyon through Santa Monica to the coast. This land, a portion of the original 1838 holdings of Fransisco Marquez, stretched across a mesa and became known as the Riviera section. Will Rogers, who had bought much of this land as an investment, later donated it to the State of California creating Will Rogers State Beach. Circa 1931, Sunset was a paved road from Horn Avenue to Havenhurst Avenue.

I hope you enjoy my road trip video as much I did making it. Starting with the Pacific Coast Highway, we visit the stunning El Matador Beach in Malibu California. The opening scenes from Grease were filmed here.
Then we drive through Hollywood, including Sunset Blvd. Next up is the Griffith Observatory, location for many film scenes and a great spot for views of Los Angeles.
You'll see the famous Laurel Canyon, home to many musicians (Joni Mitchell, Jim Morrison, Buffalo Springfield, Frank Zappa, Mick Fleetwood etc). The Canyon Country Store was immortalised in The Door's song Love Street. "I see you live on Love Street, there's this store where the creatures meet". Morrison lived in a home behind the store, and Mama Cass once lived in the store basement.

Next is a quick visit to the old offices of Hanna-Barbera, who created a huge amount of successful cartoons. Scooby Doo, Wacky Races, Top Cat, The Banana Splits just to name a few. Some great childhood memories!
Then a visit to the E.T. house in Tujunga. This home was integral to the movie, and hasn't changed a great deal. It does look a little smaller in person though compared to on screen.
Finally the trip ends on a visit to Universal Studios Citywalk. There's plenty of entertainment here and entry is free.

Manila Yacht Club Sunset Cruise 2015 Roxas Boulevard Manila Bay. The Manila Yacht Club is the first and most exclusive Yacht Club in the Philippines created through the efforts and the passion for sailing of five devoted yachtsmen: James C. Rockwell, Joseph A. Thomas, Aubrey P. Ames, Stewart E. Tait and A.S. Heyward, the first by-laws of the Club were signed on January 20, 1927. The Club was established to encourage and develop boating throughout the country, as well as to put enthusiasts in touch and develop fair play, camaraderie and good sportsmanship among its members.
With its rich history of 88 years, there is no doubt that the Club also went through a lot of rough sailing in the past. The pleasure of sailing was stopped in December 1941 when WWII erupted. The Americans confiscated the boats docked at the MYC basin for fear that the Japanese soldiers might use them to launch an attack on Corregidor. The boats were sunk and others were set on fire. Sailing then came to a complete close down from 1941-1945 when the Americans arrived to liberate Manila. The US Army occupied the Club and in March 1947, MYC was able to secure the property where it stands today. Women also started to become members of the Club during that time.
In the 1950's, the primary consideration of the Club for one to be able to join is that the person should really have the passion and love for sailing. Back then, the Board of Directors would go on a secret voting to decide whether or not to accept one as a member.
The Club began to join some international sailing competitions in the 1960's. The Philippines was the first Asian country to participate in the Olympics yachting events. Also during that time, eighty percent of club membership was composed of Americans and other expatriates.
In the 70's, expat membership declined and they began to leave the country due to the dictatorship of the Martial Law years. Membership picked up again during the mid-80's until the early 90's. But sailing went down in 1995 because of the Asian Economic Crisis.
Since the Philippines is considered to be prone to typhoons and devastating storms, the boat owners had problems in maintenance and safety of their yachts. The solution came about in 1998 when the height of the seawall was increased to protect the boats anchored at the basin of the Manila Yacht Club. The following year, another major project materialized with the launching of the floating berths which serves as a place of protection for the boats in the basin. From then on, maintenance and accessibility became easier.
In 1998, the Club became a proprietary corporation when members became shareholders. A member can sell his share or pass it on to his heirs.
The Manila Yacht Club is affiliated with the Philippine Sailing Association and aims to race competitively in local and international sailing events.

Shopping in Los Angeles
Los Angeles is a shopper's paradise with a great mix of upscale air conditioned malls and boutique style shopping. Designer brands rule.
Key areas:
The most famous shopping street in Los Angeles is Rodeo Drive off Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills. Those without hefty bank balances can still go window-shopping at jewellery stores like Harry Winston and Tiffany's or the flagship stores of all the designer names, from Gucci to Tommy Hilfiger.
Melrose Avenue, between Highland Avenue and Doheny Drive, is lined with 20th century antique shops and trendy fashion boutiques. La Brea Avenue, off Melrose Avenue, has more hip boutiques and vintage clothing stores. The Silver Lake area, on the border of Los Feliz and Hollywood (Vermont Avenue and Sunset Boulevard), is dubbed the 'Soho of LA'. It has stalls and boutiques selling stylish vintage and retro clothing.
La Brea and La Cienega, south of Sunset, offer a range of interior design and antique stores, many on a grand scale -- you'll find everything from a rug to a chandelier here.

Los Angeles has a plethora of smaller farmer's markets, good for organic picnic fare to enjoy at the beach or portable souvenirs like jams, candies and cookies.
In the Downtown Fashion District, explore Santee Alley, a kind of open air fashion and accessories market place, and the Textile Area between 8th Street and Olympic Boulevard is great if you're handy with a sewing machine and fancy being your own designer. An Irish passenger is believed to be among the hostages on the EgyptAir Airbus A320 which landed in Cyprus after being hijacked while flying from Alexandria to Cairo. EgyptAir officials have said that all passengers have been released except for crew members and four foreigners. Share Go To ...
