Mona Washbourne (27 November 1903 – 15 November 1988) was an English actress of stage, film and television.
Mona Washbourne was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire, and began her entertaining career training as a concert pianist. Her sister Katherine Washbourne was a violinist with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Sir Adrian Boult.
While performing on stage in the early 1920s, she found that she liked acting and became an actress. She married the actor Basil Dignam. Her brother-in-law Mark Dignam was also a stage and film actor. In 1948, after numerous stage musical performances, Washbourne began appearing in films. Her film credits include Billy Liar (1963) and The Collector (1965). She played Mrs. Pearce in 1964's My Fair Lady, the stern and caustic Mrs. Bramson in the remake of Night Must Fall, and the Matron in the 1968 film, If.....
She appeared at both the Royal Court Theatre in London and on Broadway in 1970 in David Storey's Home. She was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play. In 1975 she appeared on the West End stage with James Stewart in a revival of Mary Chase's play Harvey, in the role originally taken by Josephine Hull. Washbourne won the 1981 New York Film Critics' Circle Awards for Best Supporting Actress in Stevie.
Peter Duesler Aurness (March 18, 1926 – March 14, 2010), known professionally as Peter Graves, was an American film and television actor. He was best known for his role as Jim Phelps in the CBS television series Mission: Impossible from 1967 to 1973 (original) and from 1988 to 1990 (revival). His elder brother was actor James Arness (1923–2011). Graves was also known for his portrayal of airplane pilot Captain Clarence Oveur in the 1980 comedy film Airplane! and its 1982 sequel Airplane II: The Sequel.
Peter Graves was born Peter Duesler Aurness on March 18, 1926, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Rolf Cirkler Aurness (1894–1982), a businessman, and his wife Ruth (née Duesler, died 1986), a journalist. Graves' ancestry was Norwegian, German, and English. The family name originally was "Aursnes," but when Rolf's Norwegian father, Peter Aursnes, immigrated to New York City in 1887, he changed the spelling. Peter used the stage name "Graves", a maternal family name, to honor his mother's family, and also so as to not be confused with his older brother, James Arness, the star of the television series Gunsmoke.
Night Must Fall is a play, a psychological thriller, by Emlyn Williams, first performed in 1935. There are two film adaptations, Night Must Fall (1937) and Night Must Fall (1964).
Mrs Bramson, a bitter, fussy, self-pitying elderly woman, resides in a remote part of Essex, with her intelligent yet subdued niece, Olivia. Mrs Bramson spends all her time complaining while sitting in a wheelchair (although it is revealed during the play that she has in fact no disability whatsoever). She is thoroughly disliked by her two servants, Dora, a young, sensitive maid and Mrs Terrence, the cook, as well as Olivia, who Mrs. Bramson also treats as a servant.
One day, Dora reveals she is pregnant. Mrs Bramson considers firing her, but then decides to persuade the father of Dora's unborn child to marry her. The father turns out to be a suave, handsome young man named Danny. He almost immediately charms Mrs Bramson, causing her to forget all about Dora's pregnancy and take Danny on as her private assistant.

A tender drama from 1985 with Jean Simmons looking as lovely as ever - and giving a wonderful performance as a caring widow meeting her aunt for the first time only to find her in a dreadful state being held a virtual prisoner by her controlling, unpleasant and greedy son, played by Bryan Forbes in his first major acting role since "Guns of Navarone" in 1961, and with June Ritchie portraying an equally unpleasant character as his wife, both who hope to gain from her Will. Support roles are played by Mona Washbourne, Pat Heywood, Richard Warner, Richard Hope, Ann-Marie Gwatkin, Christopher Fulford and Jim Carter (long before "Downton Abbey"!). The quality of this video tape transfer is not good, but the drama makes it worth suffering! Best not to watch it full-screen...

"I Could Have Danced All Night" – Performed by Audrey Hepburn (dubbed by Marni Nixon), Mona Washbourne and Chorus, from the musical film "My fair Lady” (1964). The song is sung by the musical's heroine, Eliza Doolittle (Audrey), expressing her exhilaration and excitement after an impromptu dance with her tutor Henry Higgins (Rex Harrison) in the small hours of the morning.
