Half Baked

Half Baked is a 1998 American stoner comedy film starring Dave Chappelle, Jim Breuer, Harland Williams and Guillermo Díaz. The film was directed by Tamra Davis, co-written by Chappelle and Neal Brennan (Brennan was later writer and co-creator of Chappelle's Comedy Central show Chappelle's Show) and produced by Robert Simonds.

Plot

Thurgood Jenkins (Dave Chappelle) and his friends Brian (Jim Breuer) and Scarface (Guillermo_Díaz_(actor)) are forced into selling marijuana stolen from the lab where Thurgood works as a "master of the custodial arts" (janitor). They do this in order to bail their friend Kenny out of jail for $100,000 after he accidentally kills Buttercup, a diabetic police horse, by feeding it junk food. Their business, named Mr. Nice Guy in honor of their good-natured incarcerated friend, becomes immensely popular, even attracting famous clientele. Thurgood's personal life is ruined once his adamantly anti-drug girlfriend, ironically named Mary Jane Potman, discovers that he is Mr. Nice Guy.

Dave Chappelle

David Khari Webber "Dave" Chappelle(/ʃəˈpɛl/, born August 24, 1973) is an American comedian, screenwriter, producer, and actor. After beginning his film career in 1993 as Ahchoo in Mel Brooks' Robin Hood: Men in Tights, he landed major supporting roles in box office hits including The Nutty Professor, Con Air, and Blue Streak. His first lead role was in the 1998 comedy film Half Baked, directed by Tamra Davis and co-written by Neal Brennan and Chappelle himself.

In 2003, he became more widely known for his sketch comedy television series, Chappelle's Show, co-written with Neal Brennan, which ran until his retirement from the show two years later. By 2006, Chappelle was called "the comic genius of America" by Esquire and, in 2013, "the best" by a Billboard writer. The show continues to run in popular late-night syndication and on television networks around the world. Comedy Central ranks him No. 43 in the "100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time."

He lives with his family in Yellow Springs, Ohio, and continues to perform stand-up.

Jim Breuer

James E. "Jim" Breuer (born June 21, 1967) is an American stand-up comedian, actor and radio host. He is most noted for his time as a cast member on Saturday Night Live and starred in Half Baked.

Early life

Breuer was born and raised in Valley Stream, New York. His father was a veteran of World War II.

Career

Television career

Prior to gaining national notoriety, Breuer was a stand-out talent on the little-known Uptown Comedy Club weekly television show, based in Harlem, New York. Subsequently, Breuer rose to fame as a cast member of Saturday Night Live from 1995 to 1998. On SNL, Breuer's characters included "Goat Boy" (who hosted the fictional MTV program "Hey, Remember the 80s?") and Glen Henderson, the elder brother to Chris Kattan's Todd Henderson/Azrael Abyss character in the "Goth Talk" skits. He has previously guest starred in Home Improvement. That appearance gave way to the short-lived sitcom Buddies. He was originally scheduled to have been the co-star alongside friend and co-worker Dave Chappelle, but was pulled from the role after filming the pilot.

One half

One half is the irreducible fraction resulting from dividing one by two (¹⁄₂), or the fraction resulting from dividing any number by its double.
