INDIAN ARMY
THE HELICOPTER CAN BE USED IN MANY MISSIONS
DUE TO ITS
MASSIVE PAYLOAD CAPACITY:
IT CAN BE USED IN THE FOLLOWING MISSIONS:
QUICKLY CARRY TROOPS TO REQUIRED POSITION IN
BATTLEFIELD,
TRANSPORT HEAVY MACHINERY, ARTILLERY
GUNS AND EVEN
LIGHT ARMOURED VEHICLES TO HIGH ALTITUDE
APART FROM
CORE MILITARY OPERATIONS THE VERSATILE HELICOPTER CAN BE USED FOR RELIEF OPERATIONS DURING NATURAL CALAMITIES
DESIGNED FOR STABILITY:
THE CH-47F CHINOOK HAS A TRIPLE
HOOK SYSTEM, PROVIDING STABILITY TO
LARGE EXTERNAL LOADS OR EVEN MULTIPLE LOADS AT
ONCE.
THE COUNTER-ROTATING ROTORS ELIMINATE THE NEED FOR AN ANTI-TORQUE VERTICAL ROTOR, ALLOWING ALL
POWER TO BE USED FOR LIFT AND THRUST.
CHINOOK BEING A TWIN ROTOR HELICOPTER,HAS BETTER STABILITY THAN SINGLE ROTOR WHEN WEIGHT IS ADDED OR REMOVED; FOR EXAMPLE WHEN TROOPS DROP FROM, OR
BEGIN CLIMBING UP
ROPES TO THE AIRCRAFT,, OR WHEN OTHER CARGO IS DROPPED ABRUPTLY.
IF ONE ENGINE FAILS, THE OTHER CAN
DRIVE BOTH ROTORS.
IMPACT :
CHINOOKS WILL BE A
FORCE MULTIPLIER FOR THE INDIAN ARMED FORCES. IN CAN BE USED TO RAPIDLY MOBILIZE TROOPS &
ARMS, EVEN IN INHOSPITABLE AREAS OF THE NORTH AND THE NORTH-EAST. THIS ENHANCES
RAPID RESPONSE CAPABILITIES OF INDIAN ARMED FORCES AND IS INLINE WITH INDIA’S
MOVE TOWARDS A BUILDING A MORE
AGILE DEFENSE FORCE.
THE HEAVY LIFT CAPABILITY OF THE HELICOPTER WILL ALSO BE LEVERAGED TO ENABLE INFRASTRUCTURE BUILDUP IN INDIAN
SIDE OF
PAKISTAN AND
CHINA BORDER. THE INFRASTRUCTURE
UPGRADE WILL GO A LONG WAY IN IMPROVING INDIA’S STRATEGIC POSITION ALONG THE BORDER REGION.
