My recent Surigao del Norte trip for GMA News's "Summer Break" was one of my unforgettable out of town duties as a reporter. Here I did not only visited the tourists spots, but I was able to learn how serious the mining activity in the province.
Sohoton from the word sohot, which means "to enter by lowering one's head" (loose translation). This hidden wonder of Surigao del Norte. We passed by the Puting Bato (White Stone) formation wherein they believed the Dogukan tree was used to stand tall. The said tree believed to be magical as no one can cut it unless that perosn has 'magical powers' like anting-anitng. The leaves of the Dogukan tree was believed to be eaten by fishes.
