My bike ride up Mt. Washington in Gorham, NH on June 5, 2011. Filmed during the Newton's Revenge hillclimb practice ride.
Some call Mt. Washington the world's toughest bicycle climb -- I have to agree -- 8 miles. 12% average grade -- it simply never lets up.
Unusually perfect weather for this ride -- nearly 100 mile views from the summit. The actual Newton's Revenge race was held on July 9 - the last four miles were shrouded in fog, near freezing temperatures and 60 mph wind gusts...

Motorcycling to the top of Mt. Washington in September, 2012. This portion is the ride up from a scenic lookout point half way up. We were surprised that there is a portion of compacted dirt road but it was quite navigable on bikes. The weather at the base was nice: warm, clear and dry. At the top, the wind was blowing at 60 MPH, the fog was thick and wet and the temp. was really cold. I was amazed that while I was on my bike with my electric coat plugged in, electric gloves and full leathers to keep nice and warm, several hikers were near the top wearing nothing but t-shirts or "wife-beater" shirts - and shorts, of course. Whatever.
