Woodward Maurice "Tex" Ritter (January 12, 1905 – January 2, 1974) was an American country music singer and movie actor popular from the mid-1930s into the 1960s, and the patriarch of the Ritter family in acting (son John and grandsons Jason and Tyler). He is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Ritter was born in Murvaul, Texas, the son of Martha Elizabeth (née Matthews) and James Everett Ritter. He grew up on his family's farm in Panola County and attended grade school in Carthage. He attended South Park High School in Beaumont, Texas. An early pioneer of country music, Ritter soon became interested in show business. In 1928, he sang on KPRC-AM in Houston, a 30-minute program of mostly cowboy songs. That same year, he moved to New York City and landed a job in the men's chorus of the Broadway show, The New Moon (1928). He appeared as cowboy Cord Elam in the Broadway production Green Grow the Lilacs (1931), the basis for the musical Oklahoma!. He also played the part of Sagebrush Charlie in The Round Up (1932) and Mother Lode (1934).

This is from the huge show (title below) which paid tribute to Ralph Emery in 1990, which was a big surprise to him. Included with the many famous performers taking part in this show are the children of five of Ralph Emery's close friends over the years, who pay tribute to Ralph's friendship with their parents. I have also posted four other videos from this segment of the show featuring the children of Merle Haggard (Marty Haggard); Dottie West (daughter Shelly West); George Morgan (Lorrie Morgan); and Marty Robbins (Ronnie Robbins). To see the whole show, type in "ALL-STAR SALUTE TO RALPH EMERY (COMPLETE), 1990" - also, preceding this show I have included a pre-show look (about 14 minutes long) at back stage preparations with a lot of the stars visiting, rehearsing, etc., which was pr...

The plot such as it is...Storm is out to wreck Ace's stage line. When Tex Ritter arrives with Bob Wills to help Ace, Storm brings in a hired killer. They hold a show to raise money, but the crooks steal the entire box office shack. Tex sings, "You Are My Sunshine," and "Good Old Oklahoma." He joins with Bob to sing, "Take Me Back To Tulsa." Bob plays some hot fiddle on, Lone Star Rag," and "Gone Indian." I edited out all the extra material to leave just the music. Some songs are too short, but they often have dialog that forces an edit. I hope you like it. I did what I could to improve the audio.

Jealous heart, oh jealous heart, stop beating
Can't you see the damage you have done?
You have driven her away, forever
Jealous heart, now I'm the lonely one
I was part of everything she planned for
And I know she loved me at the start
Now she hates the sight of all I stand for
All because of you, oh jealous heart
Jealous heart, why did I let you rule me
When I knew the end would bring me pain
Now she's gone, she's gone and found another
Oh, I'll never see my love again
Through the years here memory will haunt me
Even though we're many miles apart
It's so hard to know she'll never want me
'Cause she heard your beating jealous heart
Many times I trusted you to guide me
But your guiding only brought me tears
Why, oh why, must I have you inside me
