Renewed interest in the death of Kurt Cobain has prompted Seattle police to review the decades-old case. And they found a few new and interesting details.
Next month marks the 20 year anniversary of Cobain's death, so media outlets from around the world started submitting public records requests for information in the case.
So the detective on the case back in 1994 pulled out the file and found four rolls of never before developed film from inside Cobain's house the day he died.
One of those pictures, released by police Thursday, appears to be Cobain's stash of heroin and collection of needles found within arm's reach near his body. Skin cream, a cigarette butt and a can of root beer can also be seen.
Nothing is significant about the picture other than it has never been released. The remaining pictures, police say, are simply duplicates of pictures already released.
Cobain's death still captivates people around the world, even the conspiracy theorists who believe the grunge music star and front man for Nirvana was murdered.
Detectives have found no new evidence to suggest this was anything but a suicide.
On April 8, it will be 20 years since Cobain was found dead in his home on Lake Washington Boulevard East. Fans from around the world were shocked and dismayed by the news.
Even today, detectives are still amazed at all the attention the case gets.
"A typical homicide or suicide, we wouldn't normally have this kind of evidence today," said Detective Mike Ciesynski, Seattle Police Department. "This would have been long, long gone, and with a high profile case like this, it's good we did it"

I do apologise for the inaccuracies in the storyline. This was made when i was in animation school and i had to change the story up a bit( or a lot) to suit the type of animation i used ,which was the traditional frame by frame method that took me about six months to complete. And it was more about the animation than getting the story right at the time.

BEFORE Kurt Cobain would fall in love with fellow rock star Courtney Love, together the two would welcome a daughter.
BEFORE the Nirvana album Nevermind was released in 1991 which would rise to the top of the charts and spearhead a musical revolution welcoming the arrival of grunge.
BEFORE Kurt developed a full blown addiction to heroin as a remedy to medicate his chronic stomach pain.
BEFORE Kurt Cobain decided to end his own life by putting a pistol in his mouth at his Seattle on April 5th 1994, home at the age of 27.
Growing up Kurt Cobain showcased a talent for music and art at an extremely young age. He was diagnosed with HDHD during his youth and Bi-Polar as an adult. When he was nine his parents divorced and overnight a the cheerful and excited young boy became withdrawn and introverted. He scribbled on his wall “I hate Mom, I hate Dad, Dad hates Mom, Mom hates Dad, it simply makes you want to be sad”
Both parents would find new partners and his father started a new family, attempts were made to get young Kurt into organized sports like wrestling and softball but he wasn’t interested. He began smoking weed at the age of 13 and would pass his time experimenting with drugs, alcohol and would have run ins with the law. The only positive experience from his later youth seems to be the beat up guitar gifted to him by his uncle and his hang out time with local rock band The Melvins. He auditioned for the band and was turned down – that’s when he decided to form his own.

At that point in time, they had mentioned it was the Cobain residence. I had known, obviously, from the rumours and stuff that had gone on in Rome that Kurt was struggling.
When we got there, we went through all the media who had already gathered. I do a standard procedure at every call - I tend to walk around everything before looking at the body. I walked around the outside of the greenhouse, and I spoke to a couple of the detectives. I went through, looked around,walked up, and recognized it was Kurt right away. And then, obviously, I was like, 'Fuck', because I enjoyed his music so much."

Kurt Cobain, the lead singer of the American grunge band Nirvana, was found dead at his home located at 171 Lake Washington Boulevard in Seattle, Washington, United States on April 8, 1994, having died three days prior on April 5. The Seattle Police Department incident report states that Cobain was found with a shotgun across his body, had a visible head wound and there was a suicide note discovered nearby. The King County Medical Examiner noted that there were puncture wounds on the inside of both the right and left elbow. Prior to his death, Cobain had checked out of a drug rehabilitation facility and been reported suicidal by his wife Courtney Love.
Despite the official ruling, several theories have arisen offering alternate explanations for Cobain's death. Tom Grant, a private investigator hired by Cobain's wife Courtney Love to find Cobain after his departure from rehab, put forth his belief that Cobain was murdered. Grant's theory has since been analyzed and questioned by television shows, films and books. Authors and filmmakers have also attempted to explain what might have happened during Cobain's final days, and what might have led him to commit suicide.

Kurt Donald Cobain (February 20, 1967 – April 5, 1994) was an American singer-songwriter, musician and artist, best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the grunge band Nirvana. Cobain formed Nirvana with Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington in 1985 and established it as part of the Seattle music scene, having its debut album Bleach released on the independent record label Sub Pop in 1989.
After signing with major label DGC Records, the band found breakthrough success with "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from its second album Nevermind (1991). Following the success of Nevermind, Nirvana was labeled "the flagship band" of Generation X, and Cobain hailed as "the spokesman of a generation". Cobain, however, was often uncomfortable and frustrated, believing his message and artistic vision to have been misinterpreted by the public, with his personal issues often subject to media attention. He challenged Nirvana's audience with its final studio album In Utero (1993).
During the last years of his life, Cobain struggled with heroin addiction, illness and depression. He also had difficulty coping with his fame and public image, and the professional and lifelong personal pressures surrounding himself and his wife, musician Courtney Love. On April 8, 1994, Cobain was found dead at his home in Seattle, the victim of what was officially ruled a suicide by a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head. The circumstances of his death at age 27 have become a topic of public fascination and debate. David Eric "Dave" Grohl (born January 14, 1969) is an American rock musician, multi-instrumentalist, and singer-songwriter, who is the lead vocalist, guitarist, primary songwriter and founder of the Foo Fighters, prior to which he was the drummer in the grunge band Nirvana. Renewed interest in the death of Kurt Cobain has prompted Seattle police to review the decades-old case. And they found a few new and interesting details. Next month marks the 20 year anniversary of Cobain's death, so media outlets from around the world started submitting public records requests for information in the case. So the detective on the case back in 1994 pulled out the file and found four rolls of never before developed film from inside Cobain's house the day he died. One of those pictures, released by police Thursday, appears to be Cobain's stash of heroin and collection of needles found within arm's reach near his body. Next month marks the 20 year anniversary of Cobain's death, so media outlets from around the world started submitting public records requests for information in the case.
So the detective on the case back in 1994 pulled out the file and found four rolls of never before developed film from inside Cobain's house the day he died.
One of those pictures, released by police Thursday, appears to be Cobain's stash of heroin and collection of needles found within arm's reach near his body. Skin cream, a cigarette butt and a can of root beer can also be seen.
Nothing is significant about the picture other than it has never been released. The remaining pictures, police say, are simply duplicates of pictures already released.
Cobain's death still captivates people around the world, even the conspiracy theorists who believe the grunge music star and front man for Nirvana was murdered.
Detectives have found no new evidence to suggest this was anything but a suicide.

Even today, detectives are still amazed at all the attention the case gets.

This was made when i was in animation school and i had to change the story up a bit( or a lot) to suit the type of animation i used ,which was the traditional frame by frame method that took me about six months to complete. Growing up Kurt Cobain showcased a talent for music and art at an extremely young age. He was diagnosed with HDHD during his youth and Bi-Polar as an adult. When he was nine his parents divorced and overnight a the cheerful and excited young boy became withdrawn and introverted. He scribbled on his wall “I hate Mom, I hate Dad, Dad hates Mom, Mom hates Dad, it simply makes you want to be sad”
Both parents would find new partners and his father started a new family, attempts were made to get young Kurt into organized sports like wrestling and softball but he wasn’t interested. He began smoking weed at the age of 13 and would pass his time experimenting with drugs, alcohol and would have run ins with the law. The only positive experience from his later youth seems to be the beat up guitar gifted to him by his uncle and his hang out time with local rock band The Melvins. He auditioned for the band and was turned down – that’s when he decided to form his own.

I walked around the outside of the greenhouse, and I spoke to a couple of the detectives. I went through, looked around,walked up, and recognized it was Kurt right away. And then, obviously, I was like, 'Fuck', because I enjoyed his music so much."

To Boddah
Speaking from the tongue of an experienced simpleton who obviously would rather be an emasculated, infantile complain-ee. This note should be pretty easy to understand.
All the warnings from the punk rock 101 courses over the years, since my first introduction to the, shall we say, ethics involved with independence and the embracement of your community has proven to be very true. I haven't felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music along with reading and writing for too many years now. I feel guity beyond words about these things.
For example when we're back stage and the lights go out and the manic roar of the crowds begins., it doesn't affect me the way in which it did for Freddie Mercury, who seemed to love, relish in the the love and adoration from the crowd which is something I totally admire and envy. The fact is, I can't fool you, any one of you. It simply isn't fair to you or me. The worst crime I can think of would be to rip people off by faking it and pretending as if I'm having 100% fun. Sometimes I feel as if I should have a punch-in time clock before I walk out on stage. I've tried everything within my power to appreciate it (and I do,God, believe me I do, but it's not enough). I appreciate the fact that I and we have affected and entertained a lot of people. It must be one of those narcissists who only appreciate things when they're gone. I'm too sensitive. I need to be slightly numb in order to regain the enthusiasms I once had as a child.
On our last 3 tours, I've had a much better appreciation for all the people I've known personally, and as fans of our music, but I still can't get over the frustration, the guilt and empathy I have for everyone. There's good in all of us and I think I simply love people too much, so much that it makes me feel too fucking sad. The sad little, sensitive, unappreciative, Pisces, Jesus man. Why don't you just enjoy it? I don't know!
I have a goddess of a wife who sweats ambition and empathy and a daughter who reminds me too much of what i used to be, full of love and joy, kissing every person she meets because everyone is good and will do her no harm. And that terrifies me to the point to where I can barely function. I can't stand the thought of Frances becoming the miserable, self-destructive, death rocker that I've become.
I have it good, very good, and I'm grateful, but since the age of seven, I've become hateful towards all humans in general. Only because it seems so easy for people to get along that have empathy. Empathy! Only because I love and feel sorry for people too much I guess.
Thank you all from the pit of my burning, nauseous stomach for your letters and concern during the past years. I'm too much of an erratic, moody baby! I don't have the passion anymore, and so remember, it's better to burn out than to fade away.

I was inclined to dismiss the idea, as these types of notions inevitably follow the death of a beloved icon; and as far as I knew, the name Kurt Cobain had been synonymous with depression and suicide for as long as I could remember ... heart and psyche of Kurt Cobain, that while moving and brilliantly assembled, does not address his death at all....
