Apologies for the crappy video editing and lower quality; I'm not an editor by any means and my camera is fairly old. Apologies also for lack of video detail on the entertainment system and what not; I had to be really careful about video length because my memory card is tiny.

FLIGHT:
Flight 201 from
LAX to
ICN. This flight runs once a day, and it left at 12:50 PM.
Leaving at this time actually makes adjusting to
Korea's time very easy; you arrive around 5:30 PM their time, so if you manage to stay awake for the whole flight (which I did), you shouldn't have much trouble adjusting. Coming back is rough though; the flight leaves at about 4 PM their time and arrives at about 9:30 AM LA time. If you can sleep on this though, you might have an easier time. I have a hard time sleeping on planes, so by the time I got back home, I had already been up for 20 hours on 4 hours of sleep so I had a bit of a rough time adjusting back.
AIRCRAFT:
Asiana Airlines' new
A380. From what I hear, they just got these delivered from Airbus and have only been in service for a few weeks. They will be replacing the
747 for this route. The ride was super smooth minus some turbulence on occasion, and the aircraft was noticeably quieter than any other plane
I've been on.
SEATING/ATMOSPHERE: I was on the top left deck on the way there (77A
I believe it was) and the bottom right for the way back (55J I think), although I didn't do any video for the return flight just because of my memory card. They do a 3-4-3 layout on the bottom and a 2-4-2 on the top, so I would recommend the top deck on the sides if you can get it. There was more leg room than I thought there would be which was nice, although occasional stretching was still needed.
Great storage space on the top deck; we had a huge overhead (as usual) as well as a nice bin along the sides. I didn't have the side bins on the way back, but that may be because I was in the very front of the seating compartment; I didn't see if the other seats had them.
Windows could be a bit bigger, but they still provided a decent view. The shutters kept out light extremely well.
They turn out the regular lights after the first meal and leave them off until the last meal (about 2 hours before landing). It definitely feels like night time on board even if it's light outside, so if I could sleep on planes then my guess is, it would be easier to fall asleep.
SERVICE/
FOOD: I do believe these guys are one of the few five star airlines, and they definitely proved it with their service. The flight attendants were all very friendly, and while some of them had a bit of trouble with
English, they did a great job and came around frequently. They responded quickly to the call button as well.
The food was actually quite good considering it's airplane food, and there were two meals as well as a snack on the flights. There were two choices on the larger meals and plenty of drink options.
Everything beverage-related was free, including alcohol.
ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM: I loved this part of the flight; they had an awesome collection of movies to pick from as well as music. There were a few games to choose as well which included
Tetris. I watched three movies on the way there and one on the back.
On the way there, the system did have a hiccup every now and then, but on the way back I didn't notice anything.
OVERALL EXPERIENCE: I would totally fly these guys again, I had an awesome experience with them and would recommend them to anyone looking to make this long haul to
South Korea.
