Gauri Khan (born Gauri Chhibber on 8 October 1970) is an Indian film producer, an interior designer and the wife of Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan, with whom she co-founded Red Chillies Entertainment, a film production and distribution company in 2002.
Gauri Khan is a Hindu, born into a Punjabi joint family in New Delhi, India where she grew up in a suburb called Rajinder Nagar. She did her schooling in Loreto Convent for 10 years and graduated from Modern School, New Delhi. She holds a degree in History from Lady Shri Ram College.
She met Shahrukh Khan in 1984 and married him before any of his films were released, in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony on 25 October 1991. They have two children, Aryan (Nov 1997) and Suhana (May 2000).
In 2002, together with Shahrukh Khan, Gauri founded the motion picture production and distribution company, Red Chillies Entertainment where she serves as the main producer. She became producer of Farah Khan's directorial debut, Main Hoon Na which launched her career as a director in Bollywood. The film did well at the box office, becoming the second highest grossing film of the year. Since then she has produced seven films for the company including some of the projects in which her husband is the main actor. She also made a guest appearance in Om Shanti Om (2007).
Shahrukh Khan (pronounced [‘ʃaːɦrəx ˈxaːn]; born 2 November 1965), often credited as Shah Rukh Khan and informally referred to as SRK, is an Indian film actor. Known as "The King of Bollywood", Khan has acted in over 70 Hindi films. He has won fourteen Filmfare Awards from thirty nominations for his work in Indian films and shares the record for the highest number of Best Actor awards with Dilip Kumar, eight wins. In 2005, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri for his contributions towards Indian cinema.
After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in economics, he started his career appearing in theatre and several television serials in the late 1980s and later made his Hindi film debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early in his career he was recognised for his unconventional choice of negative roles in films such as Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). Since then he has played leading roles in a wide variety of film genres, including romantic films, comedies, thrillers, action films, sport films, and historical dramas among others.
