Telcom Secy Rakesh Garg shunted out to Minority Affairs

J S Deepak has been appointed as the new Secretary, Department of Telecommunications. Deepak is at present Secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology.

In a bureaucratic reshuffle, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet cleared the appointment of 10 IAS officers as secretaries in various central ministries and departments.

J S Deepak will now take over as Secretary, Department of Telecommunications, under the Communications and Information Technology Ministry. Deepak will replace Rakesh Garg who has been appointed Secretary, Minority Affairs ministry.

Dr Aruna Sharma has been appointed as the new Secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology under the Communications and Information Technology ministry. She will replace Deepak.

Shobhana K Pattanayak has been named the Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare under the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare ministry. She’ll replace Siraj Hussain, who will be superannuating.

Avinash K Srivastava, currently posted as Special Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, has been named the Secretary, Food Processing Industries ministry.

Dr Krishan Kumar Jalan, currently posted as Central Provident Fund Commissioner, Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation under the Labour and Employment ministry, will be the Secretary of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Ministry.

Dr Vinod Agrawal, currently posted as Secretary, National Commission for Scheduled Castes, will be Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities under the Social Justice and Empowerment ministry.

Dr Shyam S Agarwal, currently serving as Secretary, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, has been named Secretary, Tribal Affairs Ministry.

Agarwal will replace Arun Jhawho, who has been appointed as the new Secretary of National Commission for Scheduled Castes.
