However, it might be a little tricky if you don't read or understand Japanese. There is very little English in this restaurant so here is a video that explains everything, from getting a table to paying the bill.

★ It's fast, cheap and fun!
This is Jihankishokudo 自販機食堂 (Automat Diner) located in Isesaki City, Gunma Prefecture. The owner wanted to make a place where anyone can go to get a meal and have fun! He certainly succeeded.
The food vending machines:
The soba, udon and ramen vending machine
* Chashu-men (with meat) ramen and tenpura udon
330 to 400 yen
The toast sandwich vending machine
* Anko & Cheese or Italian toast sandwich
250 yen
The hot burger vending machine
* Cheeseburger, Curry Burger or Tar Tar Meat Sauce Burger
300 yen
There's also an old Coca-cola bottle vending machine, a cupnoodle machine, a vending machine with store souvenirs and some gachapon machines.
What was most impressive was that the restaurant was super clean.
There's no staff so people clean up after themselves recycling and wiping up where they sat and ate.

I know it's been a while since Cat Island Part 1 came out, and you're all so patiently waiting for Part 2 (soon, I promise!!), so I thought I'd put together a TofuguTV quicky in the meantime... also happens to be about the favorite food of cats...
At ざうお (Zauo), a super-fun restaurant, you catch your own fish (and then tell them how you want it prepared). You're surrounded by aquariums (and possibly sitting on a giant indoor boat) and they give you some bait and fishing poles. From there, you bait the hook and go fishing. The fish are totally dumb and love being caught, which makes it awesome.
This place is a bit gimmicky, sure, but it's also one of the funnest restaurants I've been to. Totally worth checking out, I think!
I also write about Japanese culture, society, language, etc., over at http://tofugu.com (nothing stuffy, only fun). Shoot me an email if I can help with anything!

Japanese cuisine is the food—ingredients, preparation and way of eating—of Japan. The traditional food of Japan is based on rice with miso soup and other dishes, with an emphasis on seasonal ingredients. The side dishes often consist of fish, pickled vegetables, and vegetables cooked in broth. Fish is common in the traditional cuisine. It is often grilled, but it may also be served raw as sashimi or in sushi. Seafood and vegetables are also deep-fried in a light batter as tempura.
Apart from rice, staples include noodles, such as soba and udon. Japan has many simmered dishes such as fish products in broth called oden, or beef in sukiyaki and nikujaga. Foreign food, in particular Chinese food in the form of noodles in soup called ramen and fried dumplings, gyoza, and western food such as curry and hamburger steaks are commonly found in Japan. Historically, the Japanese shunned meat, but with the modernization of Japan in the 1860s, meat-based dishes such as tonkatsu became common.
Japan has an indigenous form of sweets called wagashi, which include ingredients such as red bean paste, as well as its indigenous rice wine sake.
Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi, has now become popular throughout the world.

Omurice is a fluffy egg omelet upside down served on top of fried rice.
I've been watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAawGfEhzf4 since 2010and promised myself that someday when I visit Japan I HAVE to go and try out this particular restaurant named Kichi-kichi ( http://kichi2.net/menu ) located in Kyoto. So yes, it's a dream come true for me!!
The chef itself is very kind & super skilled, and I think he really enjoy being filmed that he put on some show for a show-off, haha.
FOR MORE INFO ON LOCATION ETC, I'VE WRITTEN IT HERE: http://umifadilah.com/eats/2013/3/the-most-awesome-omurice

In this episode Dwight joins a sushi masterclass with Japanese super chef Shinji Kanesaka (of Shinji by Kanesaka in Ginza, Tokyo - Two Michelin Stars) and his Michelin starred protege Chef Toru Osumi (of Shinji by Kanesaka in City of Dreams, Macau - One Michelin Star).
See photos and videos from the San Pellegrino masterclass with a Michelin starred Chinese chef here: http://ow.ly/YhuD8
The class with the two master chefs was arranged for press and a selection of bloggers as a part of an ongoing Fine Dining Lovers Guest Chef Series. This event was held at the Okura Prestige Hotel near the Phloen Chit BTS. The fish used had been flown in from Tokyo's Tsukiji marker for the dinner events at the hotel's Japanese restaurant called Yamazato. They were paired with Chef Kanesaka's own private label of Japanese sake and Acqua Panna water.

Traditional Japanese Instruments:
Shakuhachi (Bamboo flute)
Shakuhachi are usually made from the root end of a bamboo culm and are extremely versatile instruments. Professional players can produce virtually any pitch they wish from the instrument, and play a wide repertoire of original Zen music, ensemble music with koto, biwa, and shamisen, folk music, jazz, and other modern pieces.
Koto
The koto is the national instrument of Japan. Koto are about 180 centimetres (71 in) length, and made from kiri wood (Paulownia tomentosa). They have 13 strings that are strung over 13 movable bridges along the width of the instrument. Players can adjust the string pitches by moving the white bridges in the picture before playing, and use three finger picks (on thumb, index finger, and middle finger) to pluck the strings, otherwise known as plectra.
Shamisen
The shamisen is a plucked stringed instrument. Its construction follows a model similar to that of a guitar or a banjo, with a neck and strings stretched across a resonating body. The neck of the shamisen is fretless and slimmer than that of a guitar or banjo. The body, called the dō (胴), resembles a drum, having a hollow body that is taut front and back with skin, in the manner of a banjo.

Lucky Penny Thoughts: This was a really fun kit to make. It is not meant to taste like real sushi, it is a candy kit, so the flavors are sweet. Very much like a type of gummy candy. I like to set up a little food scene at the end of each of the Kracie video's to have a little extra fun. There is no cooking in the set. Like most of the Kracie kits the taste is OK, but the fun in creativity is off the charts! Have fun when you make these kids and as always take your time for the best results.
Later!

Conveyor belt sushi (Japanese: 回転寿司 Hepburn: kaiten-zushi?), literally "rotation sushi", also called sushi-go-round (くるくる寿司 kuru kuru sushi?), is a form of fast-food sushi common in Japan. In Australia, it is also known as a sushi train.
Kaiten-zushi is a sushi restaurant where the plates with the sushi are placed on a rotating conveyor belt or moat that winds through the restaurant and moves past every table and counter seat. Customers may place special orders, but most simply pick their selections from a steady stream of fresh sushi moving along the conveyor belt. The final bill is based on the number and type of plates of the consumed sushi. Some restaurants use a fancier presentation such as miniature wooden "sushi boats" traveling small canals or miniature locomotive cars.
