Yep, yet another Phil Cool sketch extracted from my own ye olde world VHS collection. But in this one he does a Stingray puppet . . . oh, just watch it. Even if you don't get the joke, the visual side is a sight to behold.
Incidentially, while these days Phil Cool is very rarely seen on our screen, he is still doing the rounds doing local concerts.

Phil Cool (born Philip Martin, Chorley, Lancashire) is an English comedian, impressionist and musician.
Cool discovered that he had the ability to pull faces when he was at school. Once he left school he worked briefly as an electrician before turning professional as a comedian and impressionist.[citation needed]
Whereas many of his impressionist peers concentrated on mimicking the voice of the target and changing in and out of a succession of hats, beards, spectacles and coats, Cool placed an emphasis on thrusting his eyebrows, lips and even, seemingly, his ears into the positions required of the part, rather than on costumes.
Cool's debut television appearance was in the short lived comedy show Rock With Laughter, it was round about this time that he made a career-defining performance at Jasper Carrott's Folk Club "The Boggery". Carrott was impressed with Cool's act and decided to take an active hand in furthering his career. In 1983 he appeared as a regular on the O.T.T. spin-off Saturday Stayback and, in 1984, he became one of the voice artists for the satirical show Spitting Image, impersonating Boy George, Holly Johnson and Mick Jagger for the first two series. It was during his time on Spitting Image that a producer for the BBC spotted him, and got him work on Pebble Mill at One.

Rolf Harris, CBE, AM (born 30 March 1930) is an Australian musician, singer-songwriter, composer, painter and television personality.
Born in Perth, Western Australia, Harris was a champion swimmer before studying art. He moved to England in 1952, where he started to appear on television programmes on which he drew the characters. He also began a musical career initially with the piano accordion. He wrote the famous song "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport", and when performing in Canada he introduced his popular routine around his song "Jake the Peg". He often uses unusual instruments in his performances: he plays the didgeridoo, has been credited with the invention of the wobble board, a rhythmic percussion instrument, and was associated with the Stylophone, a small electronic keyboard instrument.
From the 1960s he has become a popular television personality, presenting shows including Rolf's Cartoon Club, Animal Hospital and various programmes about serious art. In late 2005 he painted an official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was the subject of a special episode of Rolf on Art.

Sir James Paul McCartney, MBE, Hon RAM, FRCM (born 18 June 1942) is an English musician, singer-songwriter and composer. Formerly of the Beatles (1960–1970) and Wings (1971–1981), he has been described by Guinness World Records as "The Most Successful Composer and Recording Artist of All Time", with 60 gold discs and sales of over 100 million albums and 100 million singles. With John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, he gained worldwide fame as a member of the Beatles, and with Lennon formed one of the most celebrated songwriting partnerships of the 20th century. After leaving the Beatles, he began a solo career and later formed the band Wings with his first wife, Linda Eastman, and singer-songwriter Denny Laine.
According to the BBC, his Beatles song "Yesterday" has been covered by over 2,200 artists—more than any other song. Wings' 1977 release, "Mull of Kintyre", became one of the best-selling singles ever in the UK, and he is "the most successful songwriter" in UK chart history, according to Guinness. As a songwriter or co-writer, he is included on thirty-one number one titles on the Billboard Hot 100, and as of 2012 he has sold over 15.5 million RIAA certified units in the United States.

Writing for the BBC in 2003, author Mark Lewisohn said: "Cool was an amazing talent...able to contort his features into a caricature semblance of the intended victim. Sometimes so uncanny was this facial transformation that he didn't need traditional sketch material
Cool discovered that he had a skill for pulling faces when he was a 12-year-old at school.[1] Once he left school he worked briefly in a warehouse and as an electrician[2] before turning professional as a comedian and impressionist.
Whereas many of his impressionist peers concentrated on mimicking the voice of the target and changing in and out of a succession of make-up and costumes, Cool instead placed an emphasis on thrusting his eyebrows, lips and even, seemingly, his ears into the positions required of the part.[5]
Cool's debut television appearance was in the short lived comedy show Rock With Laughter, it was round about this time that he made a career-defining performance at Jasper Carrott's Folk Club "The Boggery". Carrott was impressed with Cool's act and decided to take an active hand in furthering his career. In 1983 he appeared as a regular on the O.T.T. spin-off Saturday Stayback and, in 1984, he became one of the voice artists for the satirical show Spitting Image, impersonating Boy George, Holly Johnson and Mick Jagger for the first two series. It was during his time on Spitting Image that a producer for the BBC spotted him, and got him work on Pebble Mill at One.
After the success of these appearances, he was given his own series called Cool It (BBC). The first series of Cool It was repeated within a matter of months. There was a tie-in video release of the best moments of Cool It. Cool's most famous impression was that of entertainer Rolf Harris.[citation needed] The second series aired in 1986 and was also produced by Jasper Carrott. The BBC released another video Cool It Too. Cool recorded an album on Virgin Records called Not Just a Pretty Face, and a book titled Cool's Out. In 1987, he performed at The Secret Policeman's Third Ball. The third and final series was broadcast in 1988.
In 1989 he appeared in the mini-film Night of the Comic Dead alongside Frank Carson, Karl Howman and Howard Lew Lewis as part of A Night of Comic Relief 2. His third video, Cool 'N' Hot, was filmed live at the Royal Leamington Spa Centre in 1989.
In 1991 he moved to ITV and made a series called Cool Head (Central Television). In the same year Central released a video showcasing some of the best moments of Cool Head. Temporary recipe and instructions until I get my sassily reworded versions tomorrow:
4¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
¾ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1½ teaspoons ground ginger
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
1¾ cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
½ cup light or dark molasses
In a medium mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and ginger; whisk together to mix. Set aside.
In a large bowl of an electric mixer, combine butter and sugar; cream together until mixture appears light and fluffy (if you don't have a mixer, you can do this step by hand).
Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl with a rubber spatula so the mixture blends evenly. Add eggs, vanilla, and molasses; beat until thoroughly mixed. Add flour mixture, stir until well mixed.
Form dough into two 6 inch flattened disks and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate until well chilled, at least 2 hours. Tip: The dough may be refrigerated at this point for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 1 month.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees c). Baking sheets may be ungreased, lined with parchment paper, or lined with a non-stick baking mat.
On a lightly floured pastry mat or pastry board, and using a lightly floured rolling pin, roll the dough to a ¼ inch thickness. Cut dough into desired shapes using a cookie cutter that has been dipped in flour (to help prevent dough from sticking to the cutter.)
Bake: Place cutout dough 2 inches apart on baking sheets. Bake 11 minutes or until cookies are set. Remove cookies from baking sheets with a metal spatula and place on a wire cooling rack to cool.

This guy is what all guitar players should aspire to be. To have an incredible proficiency with his instrument with everything from rhythm to lead playing and a complete command for composing songs and writing lyrics. But he never seems to get hung up or lost in the technicalities of it all. It just kind of flows out of his fingers. This is probably due to his years of sitting in front of a tv and playing "conquer the lick" ... followed by many more years of playing in clubs and doing session work in studios. And all of this is wrapped in a shell of ... just a nice guy who brings much laughter to the world.
