Florence Nightingale
Florence Nightingale was born into a British noble family in an Italian city called Firenze in 1820
Although no one recognized her dream, Secretary of War, Sidney Herbert whom she met during her journey praised her.
The Crimean War broke out between Russia and the combined fores of some countries in 1854.
The United Kingdom participated in the war as a member of the combined forces.
Secretary Sidney Herbert thought of Nightingale.
Nightingale was appointed as chief nurse for the field hospitals of the British army on the recommendation of Secretary Herbert.
Nightingale selected a few nurses and went to Turkey with them.
After arriving at the Scutari Hospital, Nightingale improved sanitary conditions of the dirty place little by little.
She separated and cared for the patients faithfully with all her heart.
When there weren't sufficient necessities and medical goods, Nightingale spent her money buying necessary stuffs.
Nightingale contracted Crimean Fever on a winter day while dong the rounds of field hospitals.
The long war ended and people decided to build a nursing school for Nightingale.
Although everyone praised and called her "an angel in white," she was always modest.
In 1863, Henry Dunant from Switzerland founded the Red Cross, which was designed to treat all the wounded soldiers regardless of friendly or enemy soldiers.
In an address after receiving the first Nobel Peace Prize, Henry Dunant said he had been influenced by Nightingale to set up organization.
She is a true angel in white whose name remains forever in the memory of all the people.

Florence Nightingale OM, RRC (
/ˈflɒrəns ˈnaɪtɨŋɡeɪl/; 12 May 1820 – 13 August 1910) was a celebrated English nurse, writer and statistician. She came to prominence for her pioneering work in nursing during the Crimean War, where she tended to wounded soldiers. She was dubbed "The Lady with the Lamp" after her habit of making rounds at night. An Anglican, Nightingale believed that God had called her to be a nurse.
Nightingale laid the foundation of professional nursing with the establishment, in 1860, of her nursing school at St Thomas' Hospital in London, the first secular nursing school in the world, now part of King's College London. The Nightingale Pledge taken by new nurses was named in her honour, and the annual International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world on her birthday.
Florence Nightingale was born into a rich, upper-class, well-connected British family at the Villa Colombaia, near the Porta Romana at Bellosguardo in Florence, Italy, and was named after the city of her birth. Florence's older sister Frances Parthenope had similarly been named after her place of birth, Parthenopolis, a Greek settlement now part of the city of Naples.

The Florence Nightingale Museum is located at St Thomas' Hospital, which faces the Palace of Westminster across the River Thames in South Bank, central London, England. It is open to the public seven days a week. It re-opened on May 12 2010 following an extensive £1.4m refurbishment.
The museum tells the real story of the lady with the lamp from her Victorian childhood to her experiences in the Crimean, through to her years as an ardent campaigner for health reform. Florence Nightingale, is recognised as the founder of modern nursing in the United Kingdom. The new museum explains her legacy and also celebrates nursing today.
In 1860, four years after her famous involvement in the Crimean War, Nightingale founded the Nightingale Training School for nurses at St. Thomas' Hospital and the museum is located on this site.

The Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery is a school within King's College London. It is primarily concerned with the education of people to become nurses and midwives. It also carries out nursing research, continuing professional development and postgraduate programmes.
The School has a history which dates back to the first ever school of nursing opened by Florence Nightingale at St. Thomas' Hospital on 9 July 1860. The School forms part of the Waterloo campus on the South Bank of the River Thames and is now one of the largest schools in the university.

(Rare!) Voice of Florence Nightingale (1890)
Another rare, Historical voice recording. Florence Nightingale(1820.5.12 - 1910.8.13), known as "The Lady with the Lamp" and a pioneering nurse, writer, and noted statistician, recorded some words on Edison Parafine Wax Cylinder, on July 30th, 1890. This is a 1933 Dubbing from the original cylinder, made by Edison-Bell Company from England, released as "19th Century Celebrities Series No.1". I don't know if there is someone who has some of this "Celebrities Series". Since the dubbing was made at the wrong speed (the cylinder was played too fast), I played the record on 74rpm, to correct the speed. A real historical recording - this is the oldest recording (considering when the recording was made) I have in my collection. -

Florence Nightingale was born into a British noble family in an Italian city called Firenze in 1820
Although no one recognized her dream, Secretary of War, Sidney Herbert whom she met during her journey praised her.
The Crimean War broke out between Russia and the combined fores of some countries in 1854.
The United Kingdom participated in the war as a member of the combined forces.
Secretary Sidney Herbert thought of Nightingale.
Nightingale was appointed as chief nurse for the field hospitals of the British army on the recommendation of Secretary Herbert.
Nightingale selected a few nurses and went to Turkey with them.
After arriving at the Scutari Hospital, Nightingale improved sanitary conditions of the dirty place little by little.
She separated and cared for the patients faithfully with all her heart.
When there weren't sufficient necessities and medical goods, Nightingale spent her money buying necessary stuffs.
Nightingale contracted Crimean Fever on a winter day while dong the rounds of field hospitals.
The long war ended and people decided to build a nursing school for Nightingale.
Although everyone praised and called her "an angel in white," she was always modest.
In 1863, Henry Dunant from Switzerland founded the Red Cross, which was designed to treat all the wounded soldiers regardless of friendly or enemy soldiers.
In an address after receiving the first Nobel Peace Prize, Henry Dunant said he had been influenced by Nightingale to set up organization.
She is a true angel in white whose name remains forever in the memory of all the people.

Another rare, Historical voice recording. Florence Nightingale(1820.5.12 - 1910.8.13), known as "The Lady with the Lamp" and a pioneering nurse, writer, and noted statistician, recorded some words on Edison Parafine Wax Cylinder, on July 30th, 1890.
This is a 1933 Dubbing from the original cylinder, made by Edison-Bell Company from England, released as "19th Century Celebrities Series No.1". I don't know if there is someone who has some of this "Celebrities Series".
Since the dubbing was made at the wrong speed (the cylinder was played too fast), I played the record on 74rpm, to correct the speed.
A real historical recording - this is the oldest recording (considering when the recording was made) I have in my collection.

Everyone is familiar with Aesop's Fables. Aesop has been credited with inventing the fable. Indeed, the name Aesop has become synonymous with fables. However, animal fables existed long before Aesop. Herodotus seemed to think everyone knew Aesop and his fables so well that he did not need to give any details of Aesop or his work.
Telling your child a story at bedtime is a tradition many parents have followed for centuries. Telling your child bedtime stories that teach comes with many benefits to both parent and child. Many medical research studies have shown that regularly reading your child bedtime stories can actually enhance their speech and language development. It is said that reading bedtime stories that teach can even help the child's brain to absorb the parents voice, as well as the language the parent is speaking.
Fable is a literary genre: a succinct fictional story, in prose or verse, that features animals, mythical creatures, plants, inanimate objects, or forces of nature that are anthropomorphized. A fable differs from a parable in that the latter excludes animals, plants, inanimate objects, and forces of nature as actors that assume speech or other powers of humankind.
I spent many delicious hours as a child reading fairy tale. When offered fairy tale, they would shy away, fearing the dark and disturbing images that had the potential to frighten and traumatize their young ones. Their argument would go like this: "Fairy tale are scary and present the world dishonestly. Deeper meaning resides in the fairy tale told to me in my childhood than in the truth that is taught by life.
Some of the best stories for kids are the classics. These stories have been around for generations, and are still best sellers and favorites in many families. Many great stories for kids are available today in the bookstores as well as online.
Short Moral Stories seem hard to come by these day or maybe just that there are so many shows and stories available with no moral content.
A bedtime story is a traditional form of storytelling, where a story is told to a child at bedtime to prepare the child for sleep. It's really better if you have soft, comfortable jammies for them. Next, you might want to read your child a bedtime story.
These could be kids story or your own corrected and recorded journals.
The varying corpus denoted Aesopica or Aesop's Fables includes most of the best-known western fables, which are attributed to the legendary Aesop, supposed to have been a slave in ancient Greece around 550 BC. Bedtime Stories
