New Brunswick trio Screaming Females are back with a blistering new record—Rose Mountain—you can check out the premiere for "Hopeless" here. They strike the perfect sweet spot between punkish angst and melodic pop nous. Legendary filmmaker and music documentarian Lance Bangs followed the band on tour and here's part one for your viewing pleasure. Singer Marissa Paternoster admits sleep is her ultimate drug (we hear you), but their live shows are anything but a snooze. In the van, at home, in a basement, in bed, Bangs shadows the band wherever they happen to be to paint an intimate picture of Screaming Females, including Paternoster opening up about her struggle with Fibromyalgia. Just watch. Check out "Hopeless" here - http://bit.ly/Screaming-Females-Hopeless Up Next: Chromeo - The Maki...

ScrappleTV sits down with Lance Bangs to talk about his new Documentary on Slint [Breadcrumb Trail (2014)] Epochal post-rock pioneers Slint are the subjects of a new documentary, Breadcrumb Trail, by Lance Bangs. In 1991, the Louisville-based band made the now-classic Spiderland for Touch and Go and, just before its release, promptly disbanded. In the years since, the album has remained enormously influential, making its mark on math rock, post-hardcore and various other sub-genres with out-of-date critical sobriquets.Lance was generous to give us a interview while in town at PhilaMOCA presenting the film. http://www.lancebangs.com Follow us on Facebook http://Facebook.com/scrappletv Follow us on Twitter http://twitter.com/ScrappleTV Stop by the Website for More News and Infotainme...

Raymond Pettibon's distinctive and darkly humorous India Ink drawings combine image and text to comment on a wide range of subjects that run the gamut of American culture. Pointed and poignant, Pettibon's work also takes the form of animations, books, zines, and album art, which overflow in his Venice Beach studio. Working across media Marcel Dzama brings a fanciful world to life in his work. Dzama draws upon the imagery of royal courts, parades, European nationalism, secret bureaucratic meetings, and silent films to create works that are as sinister as they are whimsical. In these intricately depicted works, human and animal characters come together to enact anachronistic scenes, conjuring in the viewer nostalgia for an unfamiliar history. In this video, Dzama shares his ongoing projects with Shawkat -- including a chess set and drawings on player piano paper -- as well as the inspiration for some of his characters, his challenges in the studio, and what he listens to in the studio. Decked out with a game room, a radio station, and a remote control tire swing, David Choe's Los Angeles warehouse studio is a testimony to the "bonus level" that he has reached in the art world. As a wildly popular and widely recognized international artist, Choe is also known for his reality TV show, the art he made while detained in a Japanese prison, and the mural he painted for Facebook, valued at over $200 million in Facebook shares. Inside his studio, the painter, muralist, and graffiti writer talks frankly with Alia about the new freedoms and challenges he's facing at this new stage in his practice. Artist and designer Geoff McFetridge's paintings, posters, and installations distill the imagery of everyday objects and bodily gestures into a symbology that is obvious in presentation, yet subtle and nuanced in meaning. "In my work images and language are equals. The images are often simple, and the work appears to be seeking to communicate clearly, but really I am using clarity to confuse and manipulate... I am happiest when my work changes how people see things, that within the work there is opportunity to have a paradigm shift." Such a shift occurs in the relationship between his work's immediacy of form and color, and the deeper meanings and associations that lie within the imagery itself. In this two-part video, Geoff McFetridge shares several projects with Alia, including his pai...
